Sad State of Affairs FFSA

Post by southern »

Maybe it's not true that ppl just whinge and whine on this forum...

In the last month or so some interesting thing have happened.
Premier clubs apparently got together and complained heavily with FFSA.
There have been meetings and debates and FFSA knows that ppl in women's football aren't happy.
The question now is "do they care" and "what will they do about it"?
Some clubs are also trying to take things further with official appeals etc. and to make these feelings public.
This article is from one of the Premier clubs and I think they are spot on.
It sums up the 'sad state of affairs' without attacking/insulting anyone but asking some questions.
Worth reading.

10 years ago the sport know as Womens Football was thriving. Womens football was the fastest growing sport in this country. 10 years ago South Australia just failed to take home their second consecutive Women's National Soccer League title. 10 years ago we had several SA players representing Australia in the Matilda's team. 10 years ago our Junior State teams were not only competitive at State championship but they also won a State title. 10 Years ago we had a strong and thrieving Premier League competition. I think it is safe to say that South Australia has a long and proud womens football history but in my opinion things are not looking as bright for the future.

This year it seems like this long proud history is all in the past and is being over shadowed by some silly decisions and the implemenation of some questionable rules. Decision are made with the intention to make improvements for the sport. But I don't think these rules or changes are having the desired affect as intended.

There are many individuals that have been in the womens game for well over the past tens years that woud agree with the following statements about womens football and continue to ask the same questions.

1. Since the South Australian Womens Soccer Association came under the Football Federation of South Australia questionable decision continue to be made which are totally perplexing to the average football follower. The removal then the reinstating of the Reserves League is just one example of poor decision making.

2. Why would a federation introduce a rule which prevents the best and brightest women footballers from participating in the premier state comeptition in SA? The W League rule does not strengthen the weaker teams. If you listen to the soccer rumour mill, the premier league may go to 6 teams sooner than we think or like.

3. How can the federation change a cup competition withouth consulting with its stake holders the clubs but base it on feedback and complaints received?

4. The Lady Reds continue to struggle at National League Level where will the improvement come from?

5. Where will we find our next South Australian Matilda's from?

5. How do we identify and develop good female coaches who can develop and mentor our junior players?

6. Inconsistent rulings made during the season continue to astound us.

Poor measures of KPIs – FFSA main KPI is to measure the number of mentions in the paper and if that is on the rise then they are successful !!!!! Doesn’t seem to matter to them if numbers playing are down at senior and junior levels

Lack of accountability of decision makers at FFSA – previously SAWSA board members were voted in by the clubs now the new standing committee is not accountable to the clubs and appointed by a faceless group of board members

Some defamatory comments there.

Maybe the bringing the game into disrepute could see the person in trouble
