Will the Socceroos get embarrassed at the World Cup?

Post by Russia2O18 »

NZ arent playing that well...the Socceroos have just been worse

this isnt the beautiful game

if Grella keeps losing it he wont stay on the field long in South Africa

some big scores could be racked up against the Socceroos I think

Whether you can take the first half as how they will play is debatable, however if that is the best we have then could very well be a short tournament.

Just quietly Leo Bertos got hammered...shocking challenges by both Grella and Cahill.
First the rotating...then the Dennis Wiseing...now the punking of me on my show. That is it Big boss...No More!

australia will be fine. noone from both sides really wanted to push to hard, the bertos and brown incidents made the others a bit more aware of what could happen. and the challeges werent even that bad on bertos, a lil rushed but in no means malicious. people shouldnt read into this game, it was merely a friendly. plus a few players were being experimented with.

tell me what the biggest loss Verbeek has suffered as NT coach
we may play like shit, but Pim has us set up to be in the game as long as possible... I think the biggest loss we've had was 3-1 againts South Korea, and then the other 3 losses were all by one goal

we've havent played too many decent teams other than South Korea.

only the Netherlands in friendlies and Japan away where we were 10 behind the ball most of the match. the Japan that came here were a B team.

there'll be better teams at the WC..much better in our group and we've struggled to string passes together against the minnows of Asia

goals decide matches, not passes
you mention the Netherlands... we beat them you know?

grella would have been sent off for that challenge, jumped in 2 footed studs showing, off you go, cahill would have stayed on but just, both dreadful challenges as aus was frustrated as nz was playing better and we couln't keep the ball, we looked better in the 2nd half with a 442

it's all good and well sitting back and soaking up pressure against these scrubber teams in Asia....

Quality teams like Germany and Serbia will kill us off early if we defend like we did tonight. We are no capable of scoring goals, it's becoming a problem.

I dont care what anyone says, If Craig Moore starts at the world cup, we're f**ked....

my god Craig Moore should be cut from the squad today but for some reason Pim likes him but in saying that surely he is keeping him in the squad for the fatherly reasons

I thought Milligan had a shocker... lucky we have Wilkshire to come back..

I'd rather Rhys Williams in there too!!

milligan was pretty solid. the guy can pass and defend, aswell as get up for a header when theres a corner. shouldnt be playin RB tho when he is a CB. but pim was experimenting so he should kno miligan isnt the best choice there.

I know last night was only a friendly without some of the senior players but we were only playing NZ - still think there has been no good replacement for Viduka and if Moore plays we will concede many goals.

Malicious - maybe/maybe not, reckless - yes. He could have caused serious damage, whether intentional or not.

If Aus. plays anyhting like what they did last night, they wont get a point at the world cup and wont even score a goal...... disgraceful and i blame pim for it.

against a team who we should be belting on home turf.....

This f**ked sytem of Pim's (or Dutch Vidmar as I was calling him last night after a few beers) is just rubbish... We'll struggle to score let alone get out of this group.

All credit to the Kiwi's, sure their defence might be a touch on the average side but at least they had a f**king go last night....

and bloody hell, if Craig Moore is international quality the I might start training with a QLD State League side and see if I can get a gig in South Africa... seriously, what on earth does Pim see in this bloke?

As I see it at the minute, we're doomed in South Africa.....

the last game will be a dead rubber against serbia, i wont be heading out the the various live spots in the city if thats the case, i will just stay home and watch it.
we will get a draw against ghana, germany and serbia will belt us, we are just not good enough, our squad is crap!
the USA have a dream group with england. slovenia and algeria are crap, why couldnt we get in that group and the usa get in ours, luck of the draw. our group is a stinker!

I agree with a lot of you that FAR too much is being read into the other night. No Kewell, no Emo, no Wilkshire, no Chippers, Bresc and Culina had their first runs in ages, plus the result of this game meant more to NZ than it did to Aus. And remember that they looked ordinary in all three of the lead-up matches in 06 (Skoko wonder goal gave them 1-0 win over a dis-interested Greek side here for a holiday, less than 35% possession against Holland - how they drew I'll never know, and 3-1 against Liechtenstein who are worse than NZ and Aus only took the lead with 10 minutes to go).

I won't write them off, even though this group is tougher than four years ago. The weakest team from our perspective is Ghana and they are stronger than 06 Japan. And Serbia are also a tad stronger than 06 Croatia. To progress this time, they need their best 11, or very close to it, in all three matches because the depth is not great. Also, they need Germany to beat Serbia and Ghana and have to hope for a draw in the match between those two . With those results going our way, the boys just might get through.

You can look at it that way, but just be thankful we didn't get drawn in North Korea's place against Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal. It easily could have happened to as all the Asian teams were in the same pot.

pity we were in the same group as most of the dolly teams to be honest... I guess that's what we get for being a dolly team
