Re: 28 Man Sqaud Named
Not taking McDonald seems insane to me. Where is the plan "B"? What happens if we need to beat Serbia by 3 - 0 in the final game to get through to the 2nd round? We still do in with the 1 striker?
Purely for tactical options Scott should have been taken. Very disappointed that Pim would not have the courage to take a player which could motivate him to possibly switch tactics in a match and re-structure the side.
McD>>>>>>>>>>> Rukavytsa, Oar, Vidosic, Lowry, Valeri, Moore, etc etc etc
To much talent to be left behind

is not news that macca cant perform for australia. how many games is it now? its too big a risk to 'hope' he performs in the world cup.

Do you - and while I'm at it, does Pim - actually watch McDonald play in this formation, or do you just look at the scorecard at the end of the match to see if he's scored a goal or not? Aside from Kewell, McDonald works harder than, has a far better first touch than, and links with the three men behind him (including Cahill, you know the guy who scores all our goals in big matches) better than anyone else in this role. FULL STOP. If Kewell is unfit (and I highly doubt he can get through three intense matches in a short turn around, as he couldn't four years ago), McDonald is EASILY the next best choice. We all agree that Viduka was great in this system under Hiddink, but how many goals did he score?FPV #18 wrote:is not news that macca cant perform for australia. how many games is it now? its too big a risk to 'hope' he performs in the world cup.
And on the earlier talk regarding Kennedy, who cares how tall Mertesacker is? The fact is he is world class and even if he was 5'10, Kennedy doesn't have a hope of getting a free header against him. And without his head, Kennedy is rubbish. He may be good value against Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman etc, but to take him to a WC in a group with Germany, Ghana and Serbia ahead of McDonald is absolutely ludicrous.

mertersackers hight is just one thing that makes him a great centre back, just saying kennedy is picked for his hight, germany have already nullified that and then someComeBackDukes! wrote:Do you - and while I'm at it, does Pim - actually watch McDonald play in this formation, or do you just look at the scorecard at the end of the match to see if he's scored a goal or not? Interesting to hear Chipperfield has been playing up front for Basel. Scored 13 goals this season. He could be used as a smokey upfront late in games.
