Boo Hoo....I don't see how a player should get a red for a legitimate play....
The day you deserve a Red for an accidental contact is the day I give it away.
Overhead kicks are dangerous play anyway you look at it.
I disagree, at the head kicks are far more dangerous

It wouldn't result in a penalty but a free kick to the defending team if deemed dangerous play.

Probably hasn't happened, cos contact was made with the ball and not the head.

An 80m over head kicked goal would be impressive though.

It was an attacking bicycle on goal, and I just didn't see the defender coming from the side to header the ball. He knocked it off the toes of my boot and the foot came plum on his nose. There was no intention for it to be malicious, a deflection placed the ball behind me and my marker was never going to get to it, so I instinctively reacted. Once again, I apologise. I also apologised to the ref, who understood and interpreted the scenario correctly.

Adelaide Uni 2 Adelaide Villa 2 (Res 1-3)

Uni in control in the opening 20 Mins and deservedly went 1 up and also hit the post. Villa settled and equalised to go 1-1 at HT. Second half Villa mostly in control in an even contest with a goal a piece mid way through. Villa had a couple cleared off the line but all in all a draw a fair result to be honest.....Uni will be very hard to beat especially at home.
Congratulations to Tony Scalzi for his first game in charge after Rick stepped down to a playing role due to work commitments. Thanks to Ciucc for his outstanding efforts and results over the past 2 years.

This is exactly why overhead kicks should be penalized as dangerous play. Nobody can see what's behind them. If it's that high use your head.

No one has answered my question......I am sure there has been a defender in the history of the game that has got their head in there. No grounds for a penalty in my opinion......Fcuk were getting soft.....Acccidents happen and people get hurt in contact sports,
it's just the way it is. :?

It's been answered, if the contact was on the ball then it would only be a free kick if the ref deemed it to be dangerous play. So you wouldn't get a red for it.

If I could jump that high I would! I only went for the bicycle because my momentum carried me away from the ball...it was just like Pele's in "Victory"!

Look, I scored one before, attempted numerous others, first time I went for one and hurt anyone (and I only ever attempt it if I think no-one is going to get hurt). On the flip side, I've been volleyed in the face going for a diving header before, but I didn't ask for volleys to be banned. I've been punched by a keeper attempting a clearance, but I didn't ask for punched clearances to be banned. I see many tackles end people's careers that go unpunished, but for an attempt on goal to cause this much discussion is ludicrous.

I understand everyone's opinion, appreciate and agree to an extent, but if you didn't see then it's a little hard to comment on this specific incident. It's a feature of the game that no-one wants to see disappear. What would everyone say if all of Peter Crouch's overhead goals were ruled out because of dangerous play?

No it hasn't............For the simple ones.

Tell me when a shot on goal from a bicycle kick has been disallowed and been awarded a penalty/free kick?

So you can jump that high with your feet but not your head? :?

As for the diving header, well if you put your feet at boot level then you have to expect boots to be there.

It sounds nothing like Pele's in Escape to Victory, he made contact with the ball, he had no defeders in the vicinity and most importantly HE SCORED!

A's

Southern Breakers 5 Adelaide Cougars 6

Wierdest game I have ever been involved in  . We led 3-0 at half time. Scored in the second half to make it 4-0 ( I actually got on the scorers sheet- scored from a kick out) . Then Breakers came back to make it 4-3, then we scored another 2 to make it 6-3.. then when we thought it was all settled, they pegged back another 2! Too late in the end for the Breakers though, who must be commended for their fighting spirit and their will to keep running their guts out, no matter the result. Their pitch is like playing on carpet and their hospitality, fantastic... the only club I know of to bring a tray of food into the visiting teams changerooms after a game. In what might be a season for us where we will be battling with the cellar dwellers to stay up, these were 3 precious points we earnt today.

B's

Southern Breakers 4 Adelaide Cougars 3 (I think)
