Mate, with all due respect, you wouldn't have a clue. In eight years of league and Cup games at Para, how many times have I brought players down? You wouldn't even be close.

Well put CyrilNice One Cyril wrote:To those who bang on about youth development and castigate other teams for bringing players back to their proper age group, I would say this.
I agree that Junior football should be about developing players NOT about winning so surely your argument doesn't hold water. You can't on the one hand say the result doesn't matter (because your team is all about development) and then moan when you don't get the result you want because other clubs, quite legally, play players in their own age groups (for whatever reason they want).
As a player, you improve most when you play with, and against, better players so, by bringing down better players the opposition are actually doing you a favour and aiding your development.
I do however, feel sorry for the kids that are replaced but that is an internal issue for the club and nobody else.

Rabbit, I wasn't trying to suggest anything.
Mate you are dead right I wouldn't have a clue and to be honest I don't really care if coaches play players up or down, the argument has been done to death.

What about the Big lad Jason dropped from 19s to play for your 15s team in the Man United Cup back in March

Re: JUNIORS MOVING UP
Nobody said NEVER, only inferences made by the ignorant.
What I said was "in 8 years of league and cup games at Para, how many times have I brought players down?
And you Soap Box wouldn't be close either

Re: JUNIORS MOVING UP
From what I heard the Lad was brought in due to unavailability.......and the Coach also had another 19's player (who had played 14's the season before and is a State player) wanting to play but chose not to deny someone else a spot. Fair play as far as I'm concerned.Soap Box wrote:NEVER?rabbit wrote:No dramas, you just seemed pretty sure that even rabbit couldn't say NEVER...............

Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

I think we did on two occasions. HOWEVER, they always played from the bench and only sparingly - we never had a massive player pool

You and I would, by and large, bring players up. And only if we were short, NEVER to 'supposedly' win.

Re: JUNIORS MOVING UP
I have coached juniors for 11 years and NEVER brought a player down.
As far as the opposition bringing players down, if they are the correct age it doesn't concern or worry me...
in fact I prefer the teams I coach to play against the strongest opposition possible.

Re: JUNIORS MOVING UP
Beg to differ Squizzy - know of numerous occassions where you brought 3 players down to ensure you're team was more competitive - p*ssed the parents off as these players had already played and players from the normal team warmed their butts on the pine for most of the game. Selected memory.

I'll say it again (selected reading?) and explain. By and large, I have always brought players up an age group. If I had used players from higher age group (age eligble), it was for numbers and we couldn't grab from lower age groups; which is a call the Club makes - not me. And it would certainly not to be more competitive.
Also, they would have been rotated exactly the same as our team's players. With the exception of defenders, who I rarely sub in any game (our team, players playing up or down) but I would have simply used someone who is usually a defender, somewhere else.
And as for p*ssed off parents - please?! Sh1tstirring perhaps? Mistaken identity?
Whatever...

I reckon most coaches who are struggling for wins in the comp had an opportunity to strengthen their sides they would all do it. Never say never.

checked me records and we 'borrowed' your 'keeper for two games and before others engage the worm gears yes he was the correct age.
