2 hours from glenunga to flinders uni, did they walk? There isn't a team in the division that would have to drive for 2 hours for a game.
Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:
Colossus: One House
Costa: One Lunch
Oh and add in
Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

Re: Results Saturday 15th May
Depends on the ref, a bad ref can completely ruin a game. There's a couple of teams from last year that I said I wouldn't play against this season because of their refs.Bodø Glimt wrote:If it were me I'd rather play too.

The answer is 42. So now what's the question?

Greenock to Strathalbyn would be a fair hike too.

exactly 2 hours. Didn't realise you would have to come into the city and back out though.Urgh! A Music War wrote:Greenock to Strathalbyn would be a fair hike too.

A: Vipers FC 2 Stirling 0
B: Vipers FC 5 Stirling 2
C: Vipers FC 5 Stirling 1
Scorers
(A) Matsouliadis, Kresovic
(B) Tsekinis (3), Ganiaris (1), Koncewicz (1)
(C) Geladaris (3), Matteo (1), Romeo (1)
Well done Vipers! What a day for the club - three wins, first win for the A's, and the comeback of Jaric - well done!
Stirling were in the game the entire time. It wasn't until the wedding photos on the other side of the pitch were being taken (a Vipers wedding!) that Vipers took the lead, and then they managed to seal it with a penalty midway through the second. Stirling looked a bit late to react to being two goals down in my opinion, they had the thrust but not the conviction.
Let this be the first of many Vipers![/quote]
Great day for the Vipers good to see Jaric back tongue working as fast as ever questioning everything winning every contest

Re: Results Saturday 15th May
Was having some drinks last night with a couple of colleagues from my new employment (started yesterday) and both from England, one from Wales actually. This topic came up and they both mentioned the word derived from England. In fact the one from Wales (where they play the other football rugby) said it came about because of the two codes of football in England, rugby and soccer. The word soccer derived somehow from the word "Association", but by then I was on the third pint, so can't remember much more. Someone else can confirm, Hawksey?Bodø Glimt wrote:I have to say I knew it was coined in England (actually I can't argue with any of your post but I still hate that word).Rhino wrote:I laugh every time I see you two get worked up over people using the word soccer. Surely, being the knowledgable souls you are, you both know where the word comes from; it's not an Americanism or an Australianism and I can remember kids and adults and school teachers using the word as a nickname or pet name for the game when I grew up in England, and noticed some casuals also use the term when I returned for a few years.
Each to their own I suppose, but it's interesting to note you both play for clubs that call themselves soccer clubs, how do you sleep at night? (and while the term doesn't bother me, I play for the first club in the amateur league to call themselves a football club. oh the irony. )
Re: Results Saturday 15th May
It's a play on the word association. With rugby becoming rugger amongst a lot of toffs, so association became asoccer and then onto soccer. One of the first people to use the name in popular media was the England captain of the time, whose name escapes me at this time.Power04 wrote:The word soccer derived somehow from the word "Association", but by then I was on the third pint, so can't remember much more. Re: Results Saturday 15th May
Was only quoting what some of the Greenock players said - they did mention that there is a lot of road works at their end of the journey, something about a new freeway ? where the speed limit varies from 40kmh - 60kmh, i dont know if the websites take that into consideration. Whatever time it takes, still a long way for any team to travel, and not play was all i was getting at.Hawkesy wrote:the RAA website puts the journey from greenock to flinders uni as 90 minutes.

They're duplicating the Sturt Hwy, hence the restrictions. The General wrote:Was only quoting what some of the Greenock players said - they did mention that there is a lot of road works at their end of the journey, something about a new freeway ? where the speed limit varies from 40kmh - 60kmh, i dont know if the websites take that into consideration. Driving from Greenock to Noarlunga would be more time consuming than driving to Strath or Murray Bridge IMO as there are less traffic lights etc. Plus you can go the 'back' way to these places.
