Let's not get ahead of ourselves though buddy. Vista, Grove and Knights are all formidable opponents and everyone else in div 2 are capable of stealing points if we let our guard down.

Can't keep giving these good sides head starts... I also bet when Tommy Radford work up sun morning he never thought he was going to be allowed so much time and space. Hopefully a confidence boosting win this week in the cup and the boys fire up for a tough trip to the farm!andyb wrote:Vale vs. Downs
A's 2-3. Both teams scoring penalties. The Downs winner was their penalty with maybe 10mins to play (and looked like a clear cut penalty to me) Vale fought back from 2 nil down to get it back to 2 all. Good spirit shown by the boys, same as against Florina last week, just gotta stop conceding early!
B's 1-0. Believe its the first time the ressies have beaten the Downs in a while... Wasnt a bad game to watch, a bit of that old Vale-Downs nark as you'd expect without the match reaching any great heights. Good finish, left foot volley - on the run - about 12 yards out, to decide the game.
C's 1-6. Downs probably had 3 shots in the first half and were 4 nil up at half time(we scored an own goal in the first 5 mins)
We created enough chances to have 2 or 3 goals but again couldnt finish. Downs, to their credit, had maybe 9 or 10 chances all game and scored 6... Thats the way football goes unfortunately.
All in all was a good spectacle down at the Vale today. Plenty of goals, PLENTY of banter and the odd beverage got sunk too![]()

I saw most of the second half, and the very few times Raptors did go forward they looked dangerous -most of the time ball went into the East half, raptors did not move out of their half so the ball went straight back again.I think they should have taken more risks and try to play the game in easties half more, hey Raptors, take a few more risks.Far King wrote:As I said you guys sat everyone behind the ball making it difficult for us and we didn't make the most of the opportunities that we did have. At 1-0 for so long things were a bit nervy with the chance that you guys could nick a goal but really you never threatened much, I don't know if our keeper actually made a save the entire game. You only played one up front and he was completely isolated for most of the game as your midfield didn't really look to push forward much at all.maxin in the shade wrote:I heard that 2-3 goals were scored in the last 10-15 minutes which would mean that it was fairly even up until then. Also heard Bosna beat Knights 4-3, very interesting result!
Raptors a bit disappointing in the A's, just sat everyone behind the ball the whole game and didn't really try to play at all.
Anyone care to give some more details on how they saw the game?
By the sounds of it,it was a game of two halves played in only one half.

Ingle Farm V Fulham
A coolish day out yesterday and only one result went our way.
A's 7-1
Good performance from the boys. Didn't get to see much but we took a little while to get going and once we got the second goal late in the first half, Fulham seemed to drop off a little. Our midfield really started to get on top and that's when the game opened up more and more. We created some good chances and considering we had to make two changes to last weeks team, it was an excellent effort. Paul Jones hatrick to boot
B's 0-2
Didn't see any of this game but from all reports, we were a bit off the mark. I'll leave it to our B players to make comment as I didn't see any of the game at all.
C's 1-2
Not a bad effort from our guys who only had the bare 11. Fulham have 3 very good C team players who have played at a good Federation standard before and they caused us a few problems. In the first half we didn't create much but as the match moved on, we dragged ourselves into the game scoring from a free kick and hitting the post on two occasions. Fulham looked far more threatening going forward than we did but our defence did enough. Their two goals came from a mix up between the defender and keeper and a spectular own goal from us.
O35's V Modbury Vista Lost 6-2
W's lost to Uni SA 4 nil.
Cheers to Fulham for the day. Not a big club but cheers to the players who did hang around for a drink. Good luch to Lawrie for the rest of the year.

Fulham's reserves were fitter quicker stronger and wanted it more, our B's were terrible and not even a shadow on the team that won the league last year with almost all senior players not stepping up to the mark. Which leaves us with alot of work to do starting with the cup round this week, back to the training track ths week and will return next week. Cracker of a second goal by the way congrats to the fella for his wonder strike.Jay Walking wrote:Ingle Farm V Fulham

Re: Results Sunday May 2nd 2010
simple question....
have you ever taken a free kick (or involved in/watched a game) anywhere else on the park before the ref blew the whistle and the opposition hadnt retreated 10 yards?????
does anyone remember a game played in the last 6 months involving the england national team or an english club team??????
the rule is designed to favour the attacking team not the defending team. i specifically told the ref i dont want 10 yards thus enabling me to take it at any time, not after he defending team has organised a wall!!!!!!!
you go learn the rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not sooking...i shook the refs hand after the game....but at 1-1 the final result coulve been different!!!!!!

:? sort of sounds like you are a little. But tickets has this right I believe. I had nothing to do with this game but can tell you that once the ref tells you to step away from the ball, the free kick cannot be taken until the wall is in place and the whistle has been blown. But, I will stand to be correctedMegaBonus wrote:simple question....

LAW 13 – FREE KICKS
Distance
If a player decides to take a free kick quickly and an opponent who
is less than 9.15 m from the ball intercepts it, the referee must allow
play to continue.
If a player decides to take a free kick quickly and an opponent who
is near the ball deliberately prevents him taking the kick, the referee
must caution the player for delaying the restart of play.
and
LAW 5 – THE REFEREE 21
The Authority of the Referee
• allows play to continue when the team against which an offence has been
committed will benefi t from such an advantage and penalises the original
and
The whistle is NOT needed to:
• stop play for:
– a goal kick, corner kick or throw-in
– a goal
• restart play from:– a free kick, goal kick, corner kick, throw-in
offence if the anticipated advantage does not ensue at that time

Not necessarily. All it means is that he's asked him to move away. By rights referees should book him unsportsmanlike conduct.tickets4cheese wrote:if a player from the defending team stands on the ball and is told to get back ten yards by the ref then then that means the ref has started marking out the wall

The issue is whether a wall (not one player) had to be moved.
Judging by ticketsfor cheese's post it was only one player on the ball and probably didn't need a whistle, unless the referee halted play to book the player. The whistle is needed to:
• start play (1st, 2nd half), after a goal
• stop play:
– for a free kick or penalty kick
– if the match is suspended or abandoned
– when a period of play has ended due to the expiration of time
• restart play at:
– free kicks when the wall is ordered back the appropriate distance

thats my point......i didnt ask for the 10yds to be enforced......
if i had asked for the 10 yds, the ref wouldve got the wall back and i would have to have waited for the whistle.

Maybe i'm getting old, but when a guy in the reserves scores a good goal, you should just say well done bit like on Sunday when we got a soft penalty for our first goal - I apologised to Bosna, having said that we should have had one 10 minutes later but wasn't given so all square I guess

fair enough the laws of the game would support ur argument but surely if the ref tells the defenders that play won't be restarted until he blows his whistle then he has to stand by that call.MegaBonus wrote:LAW 13 – FREE KICKS
