Title Day in Holland: Steve McClaren's Twente vs Ajax

Post by ruud »

Tonight is the last round of the season in Holland.

Steve McLaren can make history by making FC Twente champions for the first time ever.

Or Ajax will steal the title away from them after being 10 points behind at one stage. Ajax has made a huge come back in the 2nd half of the season, winning every single game (including smashing PSV 4-1 and Twente 3-0). Martin Jol was appointed Ajax's coach at the start of this season.

1. FC Twente 83
2. Ajax 82

3. PSV 77
4. AZ 61
5. Feyenoord 60

Both teams play away this last round: Twente away to NAC, Ajax away to NEC.

Can't wait for tonight!

interesting goal difference for ajax especially considering they have a shorter season.

I-ll keep an eye on the scores while flicking between serie a and chelsea liverpool game.

Tough time of year for football fans in australia. Spend all night following football and have to back it up at work.

Shame Bayern closed it out last night. Also gives them a two week break.

The honour division must be a right pony affair if McLaren can do so well. He couldn't win a raffle in England.

Maybe they can invent another trophy for you.

Last I knew you played each match for the three points. Not convinced about the merit of goal difference.

agreed, at the end of the day, points get you the title

i feel a bit hard done by, having a goal difference of about +85

have to give credit when credits due, mclaren has done well at twente

hopefully we can qualify for the champions league, then ill be over it

Happy for them, nice to see clubs can still win their first title in today's football, considering they've been pipped at the post in the past, I still remember the guy who got his tat premature (assuming it was a legit tat) it's a good thing.

Inter helped Ajax out this season by borrowing Arnautovic from twente and leaving him in the stands. I don't think he played 90 minutes all up this season for us. Didn't look that bad in his small cameo's that I've seen.

From everything I have read McLaren is a very good coach...heck if he was rubbish why was he the first team coach at United in the early 90's when Man U started winning everything. Being the manager well ask any Boro fan and they will tell you he was rubbish and he certainly didn't set the world alight as England manager.

I guess this shows maybe he does know his stuff...and can manage too.
First the rotating...then the Dennis Wiseing...now the punking of me on my show. That is it Big boss...No More!

NEC should have had a red card at this stage too. The hand ball definitely stopped a goal scoring oppotunity.

KK is one letter short of being KKK
who do the KKK hate? Everyone but whities
who do the Nazis hate? Everyone but non-Jew whities
where are the Nazis from? Germany

can't argue with logic
