Campbelltown have postponed Vs Metro in the prems due to only having 9 available players?

Adelaide Hills did similar vs Para Hills in div 1.

Clearly this is unacceptable, isnt this why clubs have reserves and junior teams???

Actually Hills asked us if we could postpone the game due to a car accident involving 3 of their players. We obviously said yes.

Game can be played with nine players... it should have gone ahead as scheduled.

First it was Para Hills "we are not good enough". Now Campbelltown. The fastest growing game in Australia ? We are going backwards in SA. What is the answer ?

My understanding was that none of the girls were seriously hurt, so there team mates should of still been able to go out there and play.

Again my point more is that teams should be pushing their second senior players up, or juniors to fill the holes created for their first choice team.

Every year is the same old thing. FFSA lets the sport being a JOKE. I'm pretty sure that the rules are that you can only postpone games for things like having players to state/national duties etc. If C'town was allowed to do this, now every team can postpone for any reason, as long as you tell FFSA that you only have 9 players!!! Shouldn't they FORFEIT THE GAME if they haven't enough players!?? 3-0 to Metro and that's all.

I think bad egg is almost right - but as they have more than one senior team then the lowest div should forfeit and the higher div should be played. I've not checked if this rule is still in lace, but I'm sure it used to be.
I hope there is something more to this to justify the decision, or else it sets a very dodgy precedent.

I really dont understand how the prem game can be postponed and younger players not given the chance to prove themself in the premier league, it would make it more competitive for the club to be producing the best team out at their club... give the young ones to show the coaches what they can do at a higher level, coz you never know what u could establish... as it has already been said, the lower div or grade should be the team to forfeit and not have a prems game postponed, totally inappropraite i believe. it makes it unfair on the other prem teams as now they got to fit in the campbelltown game during the week which interfere with the training schedules, i know campbelltown will have the same thing but thats their own fault for not giving the younger ones a chance...
just my opinion...

Totally agree! It's a real shame that a Prem game can be postponed for no real reasons!!! And as far as I know a team can play with 9 players anyway...it happened before and clubs didn't postpone! I think Campbelltown just tried their luck asking for a postponement...what I don't get is why FFSA said yes!

if it was adel city, metro, or any other top team, they would make em forfiet, which means they lose the 3 points no matter what, but in this case campbelltown get the chance to get the 3 points which is a real joke IMO

What would happen if a mens team like Adel City/ Metro/ Camptown ect tried to postponed a game due to lack of numbers? They would be laughed at.

We promote ressies to fill empty places in the seniors, simple.

If there was a car accident on the way to the game and players got injured then I think it maybe a different case and I personally wouldnt feel comfortable in playing but there arent to many other reasons to call of a game.

I checked the FFSA GIRLS AND WOMEN’S COMPETITION RULES AND PROCEDURES on the ffsa website and here it is:

38. Inability to Field a Team
38.1 If a club is unable to field a team because of illness or other reasons beyond its
control, the club may request a postponement of the match. The request must be
submitted to FFSA in writing detailing the reasons.
38.2 If FFSA approves the postponement of the match, the match shall be played in
accordance with the rules governing Postponement of Matches.
38.3 If a club is unable to field a team for a competition fixture and a request for a
postponement is not submit, the team will forfeit the game and be fined in accordance
with the FFSA Fine Schedule.
38.4 If a club fields more than one team in the open age divisions and is unable to field
a team for a competition fixture, the club must forfeit their lowest open age division
team and field a team in the higher division.

The big question now is:

DO CAMPBELLTOWN HAVE MORE THAN ONE SENIOR TEAMS? YES (RESERVES)
WAS THE RESSIES GAME A FORFEIT AND WAS A TEAM FIELDED FOR THE HIGHER DIVISION? NO! (They played and Metro won 3-0)

WHY??? I really think that there should be more clarity for this stuff, because other clubs will then feel disadvantaged. What happens now when a team has to play another strong opponent and they can simply say to FFSA 'hey we don't have a team this week, we have to postpone!'

I mean, how can ffsa now not allow other teams to postpone a game for the same reason??? All clubs need to do is to say that they have 6 or 7 Prems unavailable and how can ffsa say to them 'no, you have to play even if we let C'town postpone?'

Sorry, but this only add to other shiraz like the cup draw and I think a lot of ppl willl soon lose interest. I know many girls think that it's a complete joke...The players can be as good as you want, but if the sport is run the way it's run there's no much hope in the future IMO. If I was one of those who aspire to make the nationals I'd be looking at moving to another state. PPL always complain about SASI, but I think its these things that bring things down. At least at SASI it's about playing...this is just about ruining it for everyone.

i reckon metros would be happier with the postponement as opposed to forfeit 3 - 0 so they can beat them 7 or 8 -0 for the goal difference.

I don't think this should make any difference. I see your point here, but there should be a federation that enforces its own rules IMO. I didn't know that the reserves played, but this is even more unacceptable. They should have forfeited the reserves and played the Prems...so if Metro won 7 or 8-0 it would have been all regular.

Maybe we don't know the real reason for this postponement...so maybe FFSA did the right thing? :? I doubt it.

Another example of poor management.....A few years back a team from Marion way used the postponement (with federation blessing it woudl seem) of games to their advantage (and breached regulations on the time within games are required to be played by)

The allowing of games because of a lack of players is admirable but not fair. This sitaution will only get worse with fewer players left to fill senior spots.

I do not concur with comments that younger players will be given teh opportunity to play in the higher grade.....

Again...Something needs to be done to manage this game effectively OTHERWISE it will deteriorate further.

Can it deteriorate any further? There's no point having any rules it seems because they aren't worth the paper they are written on...

I remember watching a game last year ? ( or year before ) at Flinders Uni grounds, and the opposition only had 7 players turn up,and still played. Found out, they came all the way from Para Hills East, knowing they werent going to have a full side. Spoke to the coach afterwards and he said he asked his players, before they travelled down there, do they still want to drive there and play, and the reply was a very passionate "Absolutely".
For the record,Flinders won the game 2-0 ( one of those looked offside ).
The PHE coach also said that the referee had fired his team up before the game,by trying to tell them you have to have more then 7 players to start the game ??????????

You do. You need at least fourteen - seven on each side.

Hey AP,read the quote again, you will see it was directed to that particular team needing more then 7 players to start the game. I think the comment was made as a reference to the lack of compassion some people have ( in this case the ref ) fancy saying that to them after about an hours ? drive.
