i reckon inter can win if they turn this into a scrappy game and don't allow barca to boss the game like they did with arsenal. i reckon if inter can do that, they can get away with a 2-1 win tomorrow but containing barca at the nou camp next leg will be almost impossible

I think Iniesta is out with a hamstring tear.

I go for Inter win by 1 goal, and, surprise surprise, draw at Nou Camp. Inter vs Bayern in the final.
And no, I didn't just wake up and dreamed it all

Good result for Inter. Put it down to the Special One

It's the first time Pep Guardiola has ever lost by a two-goal margin in his 114th game.

I've never really taken a close look at Mourinho's lineup, he has an all South American defense, that play Italian style.. Surely no other team plays with that combination do they?

Milito/Sneijder are the signings of the season by far, brilliant purchases by Mourinho.

Ibra did nothing at all this morning.

You can add Lucio to that list of brilliant purchases although this morning wasn't one of his better games he was still more than serviceable.

Pretty happy with how the whole team have been put together.

Julio Cesar, Maicon, Zanetti taken as unknowns.

Cambiasso, Samuel & Sneijder rejected from Real.

Eto'o & Motta rejected from Barca. Milito rejected by la liga and had to do his time at Genoa to get a calling.

Lucio rejected by Van Gaal picked up at fire sale price tag.

Pandev we brought to Italy as a kid, gave him to Lazio as compensation for Stankovic who was coming on a free, and then managed to get Pandev back on a free.

and Mario a youth product, who is still a youth product.

Really only Chivu was an actual purchase at market rates, even though we managed to sign him ahead of Barca & Real who were offering more.

It took Moratti several years to work it out but with patience and careful planning you can get things done. Prior to Ronaldo leaving it was all big money signings to get the quick fix happening.

Thought Pique did more for them up front but to be fair to Ibra, he did only just come back from a minor injury. Thought the look on his face just before the second half summed him up perfectly, he didn't have that arrogant smile beaming which he has when playing with confidence and walked into a group meeting with Messi, Xavi and co and looked every part of an unwelcome tourist. :P I still can't believe they gave up Eto'o plus tens of millions for him.

Two moments that sum them up today for me was Eto'o creating the third (after already providing the first) then Ibra comes off soon later you see Eto'o sprinting back into defence while he was playing the central striker role. Hard to fault a player when you know he's doing everything he can for the side.

Really in today's day and age we should have the option to mute the commentry and have the audio emphasised on the crowd. "Expect comments" before during and after the match are just as bad.

Long way to go in the tie, but we've given Barca something to think about in the return. I'm expecting a siege similar to the last 20 minutes of this leg but confident we should be able to unpick them with some quick counters.

One more thing too.

Busquets shouldn't have played this morning.

Pep has replaced two hard working players ( yaya, and Eto'o) with two lazy players and i wonder if that's why they've lost alot of their edge this year.

I thought the difference between the teams was that Barca got tired, very quickly. They were able to keep possession for 10 minute stretches, but a few times there were a lack of players offering - it's not often you can say that for them, and you could see the difference.

Ibrahimovic looked like he was off the pace, definitely.

Sneijder still the purchase of the season for any of the major clubs.

To be fair to Ibra (not that I necessarily want to make any excuses for Barca!) he's only played a few minutes of football since the Arsenal tie so it wasn't fair to expect him to light the world up like at the Emirates; however his manager put him out there so he was poor when you consider he was declared fit for such a big game.

Mourinho played this one perfectly again. He succumbed to the fact Barca would have the (huge) bulk of possession and structured his side to combat that, and it wasn't in a boring fashion which was pleasing. Inter's attacking credentials are good enough to play under a counter-attacking system and the way Pandev, Eto'o and Sniejder broke from an often clustered midfield/defensive area and supplied both each other and Milito proved this.

On the defensive, Maicon was lost for the goal - Maxwell walked it down the line - but made it up with his surge for the second goal, hopefully his tooth is replaced and he's fine.

Zanetti is incredible. How many footballers stay at their absolute best in the world's best competition at 36? His performance today - in particular a couple of his interventions on Messi - was terrific. It was certainly one of Messi's quieter nights in Europe (thankfully)... a similar performance is definitely needed in Spain, we need to keep them from creating a huge number of chances like they do week in week out, which was achieved tonight.

To be the best you have to beat the best (unless you have a ridiculously lucky draw i.e Jose and Porto 2004) and Inter have done it... one foot in the UCL Final door, now no time to rest up, 90 minutes to go!

Loved the little sign of respect from Messi with the peck on the cheek and the smiling exchange with Zanetti... gotta love Leo too

++ on Zanetti. Had extra work too, because it didn't look like Pandev or Sneijder were doing much defending on the left there.
Yeah. Mourinho read Messi and Guardiola right - every time he cut inside, he had to try to cut past 2 players, and Lucio was coming out to intercept too. Messi, when under 35-40 out from goal and especially when drifting in from the right, was closed down by two players, and they aimed to cut off both of his preferred runs - directly to the byline and across the goal on an angle.

brilliant by Inter, all over the park. Mourinho is probably the only one who could've got that done, and he did.

decent effort to beat barca 3-1, but anything can happen in the 2nd leg. Especially if Messi turns it on at home.

Inter's best purchase in the last 20 years is Mourinho.
