As far as I can tell the senior committee is very much separate, the SAWSA and E&D side is run together....

Gardens used to have seperate Committees with juniors & seniors but now all under one Committee that looks after soccer (sen/jun), cricket & social and things certainly run alot smoother and all work together in fact some people get involved in all activities.

With respect to the E&D under 18 comp we certainly encourage boys to train with seniors especially preseason and there is discussion with senior coaches on players that can move up to seniors in future. But the disappointing thing is that E&D and SAASL have effectively done nothing except put out a press release in June 2008 (see E&D website) about how they will work together with E&D being SAASL junior comp. As always slowly but surely.

Maybe SAASL should be looking at creating the U/20's league rather than E&D. It would clubs from other zones to participate as well as I'm sure the transition between junior and senior sides isn't a problem only occurring in the north. It would be a great way to keep some of those kids in the game, while gently easing them into a senior level where they can get exposure to their clubs senior setup. One of the best ways to build a successful club is from the ground up. If clubs can hold onto and promote their talented juniors they can maintain success for years.

Lefty I believe there are discussions afoot to combine our clubs together, some work has been done on a single constitution etc, the sooner the better as far as I am concerned , we too have a cricket club with whom we share our ground and the lack of co-ordination and co-operation is a hindrence to both sides.

We are heading in the right direction with new club rooms sprouting up and hopefully some beter lighting along the way.

By pure chance today I had an email chat with one of the Senior Guys today and opened a line of communication for the first time, they wanted us to swap pitch allocations so they reached out for that, I now know who to talk to at least.

Well this weeks results saw a return to normality, my PHE lads struggled against the Farmers and went down 6-2 , it would have been better for us if we had our keeper and central midfielder in the tream, but week in week out the Farmers have had the edge over us so I say good luck to them, the game was played in a good spirit and we had none of the discipline issues which saw 5 yellows and a couple of reds dished out last time we played them at their ground. Well played to the Farmers, too good on the day. TTG W had another solid win over Vista and must surrely have sewn up the league title for the year, they are a well oiled machine and build their performances around the best defensive unit in the competition. In the other game PG seemed to slip back to their old ways ater several weeks of close results they went down 6-0 to TTG R ... only a few games to go now and I think the ladder is almost certain to stay the way it is...

Another week closer to the end of the season and I think I can safely say the positions on the ladder have been decided, whilst maths tells me they can change form tells me they won't...

My PHE team had a comfortable 5-0 victory over PG , sadly one of the PG lads dislocated his shoulder and was taken away in an ambulance , no malice in the incident just one of those things. There was a bit of heat in the game in the first half and several yellow cards were handed out but it settled down in the second half and both teams got on with playing football. PG just need to find a way to put the ball in the net because overall they are not that bad a team.

TTG W easily beat their club rivals TTG R 5 - 0 and it seems Ingle Farm yet again found a way to win 3-2 over Modbury Vista , we have tried valiantly to gain 2nd spot but as we never managed to beat the Farmers they deservedly have it sewn up ...

So TTG W champions elect with the Farmers runners up and PHE in 3rd with a gap to Vista then Rangers and the unlucky Gardens in 6th place.

Two rounds to go and this weekend sees the Cup Semi finals with the draw to be published soon I assume...

I have probably only had my full squad available for 3 games this year with injuries, no shows & suspensions. Had bare 11 last week might be lucky to start with 9 next week with 1 player suspended on yellows and another with a broken collar bone from last weekend. My striker was very unlucky not to score last week so maybe its luck that we need Povman.

Well with one week to go some significant results this weekend.

Parafield Gardens notched up their first win, Lefty it seems the luck you craved finally was delivered a stunning first win for the year over the second placed Ingle Farm, when combined with the victory to TTG W over a hapless PHE side 7-2 the title was decided once and for all. Meanwhile fourth placed MV struggled to a 2-2 draw with the fifth placed TTG R

The season has had it's highs and lows and will culiminate in the cup final between the top two teams at Hindmarsh on the 27th September

Congratulations to TTG W , they have built a side around some mature young lads who boast the right combination of skill and strength to sew up the title.

For me perosnally next week will see the end of the road , for now, after 5 years of fun and a lot of good times I am hanging up my coaches hat and concentrating on my career which is taking me outside the country on a very regular basis.

Whilst the entire PHE squad from this year is eligible to play again in U18 next year I think the team as a unit has run it's race and hopefully some of the lads find senior teams to play in.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Cup Final is TTG W v Ingle Farm , good luck to both teams, TTG W have had the edge all season but a cup final is sometimes a different kettle of fish.

Both teams could possibly go into the cup final having lost to the bottom team  in the last 2 rounds. Well my boys have finally found the confidence, desire and teamwork all together in 1 game winning 1-0 last week against Farm. Bring on the TTG Wanderers :D

Povman hats off to you my friend enjoyed playing against you and I can see youve put alot of time & effort into those boys and Im sure there will be a few playing seniors or PG U18 next year  . Well done and all the best to you in your endeavours.

Last round results,

PHE Lost at home to Modbury Vista, we were understrength as usual and had one player from each team sent off very early , so an open game with nothing riding on the result, 3-0 not the ideal way to close a chapter on my coaching life but so be it ...

A very close call ofr top of the ladder TTG W , who got home 3-2 over an ever improving Parafield Gardens...

And Ingle Farm tuned up for next weeks cup final with a 2-0 win over TTG R

Gardens were 3 nil down at half time after conceding 2 soft goals which weve done all season and to the boys credit they created plenty of chances in the second half we actually scored an equaliser only to be ruled off side :x . Gully had there chances as well but I think they were more concerned about next weeks cup final.

I'd like to start the season again from now but someone else to take over next year as I'm going to concentrate on coaching 1 team not 2 or 3. Good luck to the boys next season some moving on to seniors (where they will get their reality check) and all the others staying & hopefully with a couple of new players and a better coach  they will continue their improvement from this year.

Thanks to all the other coaches & players in the U18 comp & all the best next season. Also if any of the Colts players from other clubs are interested in playing in our 7aside comp please visit our website www.pgssc.com for details.

Lefty, I heard you sweet talked our keeper into joining your reserves, he is a good keeper, a bit fragile on the ground as he is so tall, and he needs to be encouraged to use his voice and command the defence, it will be a big step up for him but I think he has got what it takes to make it at a reasonable level.

I think it was our hamburgers that convinced him in the end all the refs like them  maybe your striker should try one

Just thought that I would reopen this topic for 2010 as the opening games were played for the season last sunday.

Looks to be the same old clubs in the Colts again this season, unfortunately the promise of 'new blood' from the E&D/SAASL affiliation did not eventuate and we are left with 9 teams from the E&D. It would have been nice to have some youth teams from existing amatuer clubs - maybe next year.

I was at the TTG Utd v Modbury Vista game which was a game of two halves with a fairly strong wind affecting the game. Final score was 8-5 to TTG. I would say these two teams will be at the pointy end of the table come the end of the year, especially considering MV beat TTG in a pre-season friendly 3-1 and both teams had players missing due to school holidays.

Any reports from the other games held last weekend?

Ingle Farm beat Parafield gdns 3-0, with Ingle Farm having their whole midfield away on holidays and only 1 U/15 on the bench
Ingle farm looked very good in patches and Parafield Gdns will definately Improve the more games they play together.
The game was played in good spirit and the Ref was superb ( rare praise for the referees ).

Will be a very interesting season, good luck all.

Big game at TTG this week against Ingle Farm as 2nd take on 3rd. These teams have been rivals for a number of seasons and always produce a close game. The early results this year suggest that both will be near the top again. Good luck to both teams and may the best one win.

TTG 0-8 Ingle Farm

A dissapointing result for TTG who were totally outclassed on the day by the Farmers. TTG keeper played quite well and pulled off some supurb saves. The Gullies will need to go back to the drawing board if they want to be competitive this year. Well done to Ingle Farm who are by far the best team in the comp this year.

As a former coach in this division it is amazing how the makeup of teams can change from week to week, with lads of this age there are many distractions so predicting outcomes is difficult. That said with 4 teams separated by 3 points at the top it is good to see it so competitive, the Ingle Farm lads were strong last year the teams in 2nd and 3rd have a game in hand but if either one of them is due to play Para Hills East then it is likely they will skip to the top. If they are due to play each other that game would have a huge bearing on the table...

The result on the weekend with Ingle Farm going down to Angle Vale has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons. Ingle Farm and TTG U have to play PHE and OTH and each other. With these teams having a game in hand on the leader, I think the winner will come from either of these two. Having said that It is very hard to predict, when each week the teams change so much.

Good luck to all.

I hseitate to give any predicions, but if all goes to form we will see 4 of the top 5 in the semi finals. TTG Rovers will push the Farmers all the way and the Gardens play with a lot of heart. Wouldn't surprise me if these two pull off the traditional cup upsets.

Has anyone heard whether the Cup Final is at Hindmarsh?
