Congrats to Sang on his coaching debut.....Did Steve and Fab both play?
Thanks Brent!
Yeh were missing Steve and couple of others, guys dug deep when briefly challenged in second half against a much younger side, credit to Noarlunga boys on a very clean game playd in good spirits, the real stuff starts next week!
Well done to you blokes on an awsome result, say hello to the boys.

did Gebauer score??

P.Gardens vs E.Vale
C's 0-0
B's 3-1
A's 0-0

C's - was a good game, a few good chances for both sides but some "C-grade" finishing kept it scoreless. Would like to thank the Gardens ref for the Cs. Good bloke and refd the game without bias... More club refs like him would be great!

B's - Well Vale never really looked in the game. Gardens much brighter and much better from first whistle to last. Apart from young Michael Francis coming off the bench to slot a consolation goal not allot of bright points for Vale to talk about.

A's - VERY physical game, some Gardens players out to break Hoppos legs from the get-go. might have hurt them in the long run because Hoppo was probably our best player. All the attention seemed to fire the bloke up and he sure proved he was the bigger man by keeping his head (relatively well) The ref left his cards at home today. Extremely poor more than once! Both teams shouldve had 2 or 3 guys on yellows, if not 1 or 2 reds handed out by the end. 0-0 was a fair result IMO[/quote]
sorry dont usually bite on the forum but u my friend r a dead set w a n k e r! and obviously dont know the relationship that hoppo has with all of us lads at gardens! hes a mate of mine and any chance i got i got stuck into the little prick :D but to say we tried to break his legs!!!!!!! come on!!!!!! hoppo came in and had a beer with all of us at the end and laid as many TOUGH challanges as he got given. were all mates at the end of the day and not one DIRTY challange was made on hoppo all day! all the best to the vale. a great game to paly in!

Good to catch up with old Downs team mate and coach Marty Craig and my son enjoyed the free huge chunk of meat from the pig on the spit. The old boys cooking the pig, listening to music and enjoying a glass or two (did they realize there was a game on ?) certainly were having a good time.
Nice to meet other forum user “Clubman”
Best of luck to Macedonia for 2010.

You guys are kidding right? 35 yards and 40 yards? He was not too far from the 18yd box, therefore probably 25yards max......

BUT it's not the first time farm have exaggerated

I'm actually dyslexic and meant 53 yards!

(come to think of it, I did tell a mate on the phone after the game about 25 yards, so not sure where the 35 came from. Oh just checked the time of the post, that explains it  )

Cheers to Vikings, good hospitality, shame a few more didn't stick around to enjoy it! Great pitch you guys have got, albeit a small one

Yeh Vikings vs Farm.

Don't think we played very well in the 1st half, even still Lachie missed 3 good chances. Well keeper made three very good saves anyway.

2nd half Farm dominated until last 5 minutes, credit to Vikings for throwing a few forward and snagging the equalizer at the death.

Was a disappointing end for us ... that's for sure.

Small ground Vikings have, not an easy pitch to play on, surface was nice though

A good result for East today against a solid Grove outfit. Grove had a player sent off for a stupid foul on Miller in the box, clear on goal and gave him a love tap from behind (just the way Miller likes it!!!). East pretty much controlled most of the tempo of the game, although Grove did have a too much of the ball once they got their player sent off.

Still the "Eastside Massive" was a hit with the fans as was the presentations after the game, shame the Grove boys didnt quite stay long enough. Not happy that Miller got BOG though? He must have had a relative chosing from the Grove supporters.....

Cant wait for the soreness to be gone, and next week to come already!!!
Plenty came in for a drink though. We probably need to do the presentation a little bit earlier. R Driscoe would have won the six pack if he was there- What position did he play?

I Beleive he was number 99, the bald/shaved headed guy at the back. Was pretty solid throughout the game i thought.

all Grove A graders are told to go into opposition club for a beer or 2 after games. Hopefully the rest of the league do the same thing i know from last year east and gully boys stuck around after game but not to many others. Anyway good game by East played us off the park in the first 15. We managed to pull a goal back and started to string some passes together in the second half then a dubious passback decision gave east a 3-1 lead none the less east deserved the win.

It's a tough one for us, as we are sponsored by a Pub for away games, where we all head after - our reserves will however drink plenty during the first team game

Nice work of you guys calling for the card checks before the game, my first in 16 years of playing amateurs! Gave us a good chuckle looking at some of the pics, East 17's was definitely the highlight though!

Every club has commitment to sponsors or has awards back at there club! I would like to think that even if clubs are pushed for time that they would go back in the club for at least 1 drink. It’s only 15-20 min of your time!

Adelaide Vikings V Ingle Farm

A's 2-2
Vikings came out hard in the first half and were looking quite good. Their pitch is very narrow, very long and nice and flat. They play it very well and took the lead with a beautiful cross which one of their players got a boot on. After that first 20 mins, we slowly started working our way back into the game. In the second half, we put the foot down more and created a lot more chances but failed to enough of them. 1st goal was from a free kick into the box which we got on the end of and the second goal was a Lachlan Campbell bomb from about 30 yards. In the last 5 mins, Vikings threw some players forward and they scored from a goal mouth scramble. Overall not a bad game and I think Vikings will go ok this year if they perform like that every week. Probably need a couple more players but a good result for them in Round 1. We were shattered. Feels like 2 points dropped as we really set up and played well in that second half. Makes for a big couple of games in the next two weeks.

B's 0-1
Good win for us in a scrappy game. Very different looking reserves team for us but some really good builds of play and some good defending helped. Nicely taken goal by Outlaw.

C's 1-0
Vikings C's are very good for a C team. Knock the ball around well going forward and better than any C team I've seen. Defence is certainly their weakness. We weren't without our chances and could of got a point out of the game but to be fair, Vikings were the better team. It was our first C team game after 4 other clubs all pulled the pin on us.

Cheers to Vikings for the day. Nice group of guys and they should have a solid season. Looking forward to the return game at Walkley Park.

Ease up tiger!! Im very aware that a lot of the boys from Gardens are still mates with Hoppo, you could tell by the way MOST of them were giving him a smile after attempting some of those hard challenges... "Breaking his legs" was just a figure of speech pointing out the fact he was a target for some treatment! There was however one bloke who did seem pretty intent on making shin high contact on every challenge, and at one stage right in the middle of the park had a fair old kick about knee high as well and there was NO WAY he was remotely attempting to go for the ball. I agree with you that there were plenty of "tough" challenges but there were a few (like the above mentioned attempt) that were a bit over the top. Was a great game to watch though!!

Heard That the Cs arent actually a "Vikings" team... Its another club that's attached to Vikings to play as their Cs... A bit like USC last season. Is this true?

Vikings C grade side were wearing Vikings colours with a Vikings logo and called themselves Vikings several times as well as the ref wearing a pair of Vikings shorts, however it is possible they aren't Vikings at all

One beer only takes ten to fifteen minutes. I'm sure you won't lose your sponsorship because you get there a few minutes later.
