Chelsea should have had a penalty in the first half after that rugby challenge from Neville.
Manchester United goal shouldn't have stood.

I don't see how United were robbed. The best team won.

very poor from the linesman

only a few minutes later you scored your dodgy goal. The better team won.
agree, marcheda's goal was basically straight after so it was back to a one goal deficit, united may have been pushing but didn't really create anything of note, chelsea still would of won i believe.
yeh but with ten mins to go at 1 nil ur a better chance to draw the game then u r if ur 2 nil down

The better team won. Kudos to ancelotti for.playing deco and Joe Cole again. We look a damn sight for creative with them. Malouda has hit his straps and lamps did a lot of good defensive work. Well done chelsea!!

Conveniently ignoring the fact by that time you should have been down to 9 men with both Scholes and Neville back in the dressing room for two yellows each

Controversial Chelsea leapfrogs Manchester Utd in Premier League

Robert Millward From: AP April 04, 2010 9:30AM

CHELSEA replaced Manchester United at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford sealed by a offside goal.

Also overnight, an injury-time winner by Nicklas Bendtner put Arsenal back in title contention with a 1-0 triumph over Wolves.

Joe Cole's audacious flick gave Chelsea the lead in the 20th minute. Substitute Didier Drogba made it 2-0 in the 79th, although the Ivory Coast striker looked well offside when he collected Salomon Kalou's pass.

Federico Macheda replied two minutes later but Chelsea hung on to complete a league double over United this season and move two points ahead at the top of the standings.

"It was an important victory because we won at the home of a strong team," Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti said. "Unfortunately, nothing is decided yet and we have to stay focused."

Man United manager Alex Ferguson admitted Chelsea was now the title favorite.

"Chelsea are favorites now, there's no question," Ferguson said. "Five games left and they are two points ahead, four goals difference better than us. They are in the driving seat."

Chelsea has 74 points, United 72 and third-place Arsenal has 71 after a late winner over lowly Wolves at Emirates Stadium.

Wolves, unbeaten in four previous games, looked set for a point even though defender Karl Henry was sent off in the 66th minute for an ugly foul on Tomas Rosicky.

But substitute Bendtner header the winner from Bacary Sagna's cross to keep his team within three points of Chelsea and one of United.

"It's kept us well in the title race," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, whose team travels to Barcelona in a Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday. "For us, it was important for us to forget Barcelona for 24 hours and focus on today's game and that was not easy.

"At the end of the day, we left it late, as many other times, but overall we deserved to win the game."

Manchester City scored three goals in the first seven minutes and led 5-0 at halftime on the way to a 6-1 victory at next-to-last Burnley to replace Tottenham in fourth place.

Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice and other goals came from Craig Bellamy, Carlos Tevez, Patrick Vieira and Vincent Kompany before Steven Fletcher replied for Burnley.

In the race for the fourth Champions League spot, City now leads Tottenham by one point with Liverpool and Aston Villa both five points behind.

Tottenham went down 3-1 at Sunderland with former Spurs striker Darren Bent scoring twice and missing two penalties, and Aston Villa won 1-0 at Bolton. Liverpool is not in action until it visits Birmingham on Sunday.

Down at the foot of the standings, Portsmouth was held 0-0 at home by Blackburn and is all but relegated. But Hull tumbled 2-0 at Stoke, with Ricardo Fuller and Liam Lawrence scoring for the home side.

In Sunday's other games, 17th-place West Ham visits Everton and Fulham hosts Wigan.

Top of the League Championship, Newcastle came from behind to win 3-2 at last-place Peterborough to move even closer to promotion to the top flight.

With third-place Nottingham Forest losing further ground after a 1-1 draw at Bristol City, Newcastle needs only a point from Monday's game at home to Sheffield United to recapture a place in the Premier League.

Machedas apparent handball was as much as maloudas with the penalty shout. Neither were handball. At 1 nil with ten mins left we coulda jagged 1, but instead it's hard to jag 2 at 2 nil down. Hw ppl say nevs was a penalty r crazy, anelka clearly lookin for the pen, body on body get up. Ballack has to be the biggest hack in the epl. Loved the John Terry chants though lol ahh viva John Terry lol

Clear penalty. Took none of the ball, simply knocked the player to the ground. Anyone who says otherwise is pulling themselves. Neville and Scholes were both lucky not to be sent off.

A smidge too early to quote, "no trophy for united this season!". But unfortunately, Chelski are now favourites.

I reckon MUFCBoy been on here longer than you AND supporting Man Utd the whole time, so a bandwagoner he is not.

But by the above post, you seem to be following City more. Perhaps you might be a Chelsea bandwagoner looking for an escape. Perhaps hedging your bets?

'Ol blue nose will this week be calling for video review of offside decisions and handball goals (not). Though I wonder if that assistant ref (who couldn't see where Drogba was when the ball was played) will get a gig next week...

these decisions even themselves over time
you cant me tell me, that manusa at home have had some dubious decisions go there way ?
same can be said for us chelsea fans ....

Drogba goal was offside, yep , agreed.
Anelka should of got a penalty
Macheda did use his arms/hand to guide the ball through.
Berbatovs claim for a penalty was weak, got the ball
Songs claim for a penalty was stronger, some refs would of given that.
Malouda did not use his hands to guide the ball down in the manusa box

Argument over.

ok if anelka won the penalty it's still 50/50 that he or someone else woulda scored, yet the drogba incident was clearly offside n u did score from it
