It's 5.The Random Poster wrote:Five or four? Keepers at both ends can wear the same color as each other. Although I didn't grow up here, when I was a child clubs in the children's leagues were not allowed to wear black or green, which were reserved for officials and goalkeepers.Hawkesy wrote:Quite simple really, make the refs one specific colour shirt - the traditional black and it's problem solved. Even if all refs and keepers carried 3 shirts then it still may not be possible for all the strips to not clash as per the laws of the games. Remember, there has to be people wearing 5 different coloured shirts on a football pitch.
Refs wear black and from there on, everyone knows not to wear black. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
Law 4
Colours
• The two teams must wear colours that distinguish them from each other
and also the referee and the assistant referees
• Each goalkeeper must wear colours that distinguish him from the other
players, the referee and the assistant referees

Can be 4.
Depends how you interprete the law. I think GK's wearing the same shirt shouldn't be a prob, as they shouldn't or at least rarely are near each other.

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
Common sense says you would allow 4, even thought I thought it was in Law 18 rather than the interpretations. That said Law 4 leaves nothing to interpretation, if the GK is a player then they should wear different shirts. Even the interpretations say they should have different shirts on.Power04 wrote:Yes he is a player, but what has that got to do with the answer of there can be 4 colours?

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
If a goalkeeper was wearing the same colour as the opposition goalkeeper and went up for a corner it would be very difficult to distinguish which one was permitted to handle the ball in a congested goalmouth.....should wear different colour for that possibility !Hawkesy wrote:Common sense says you would allow 4, even thought I thought it was in Law 18 rather than the interpretations. and that's exactly why it's there in black and white in the LOTG. But Law 18 means you would allow the game to continue rather than ruin 22 blokes days. That said common sense would also say the ref could do it in a bib as well, but they get severely punished if they do so.
So many refs seem to struggle with laws and common sense. I mean apparently some refs think the reserves games only last 40 minutes EW.

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
I agree with you that it would be better to have them in differen't colours, absolutely. But if a referee deemed he was happy to play a game with both GK's wearing the same shirt, then you would have to proceed, as it is within the interpretations of the laws of the game.Hawkesy wrote: Common sense says you would allow 4, even thought I thought it was in Law 18 rather than the interpretations. Good to see I have taught a veternan like yourself something new about the laws of the game.

As I said, I would have allowed the different shirts but would have used common sense to do it not the interpretations. So we can agree that it should be 5 different colour but if keeper cannot swap then you would allow 4.

I'm not carrying five keepers' shirts on my scooter ever week just in case the keeper at the other end has the same color.swannsong wrote:If a goalkeeper was wearing the same colour as the opposition goalkeeper and went up for a corner it would be very difficult to distinguish which one was permitted to handle the ball in a congested goalmouth.....should wear different colour for that possibility !

1) You told "Random Poster" its 5.
2) I tried to politely say it could be 4.
3) You made a wise crack about my officiating.
4) I corrected you
5) Now your trying to steer this towards we both agree it should be 5? WTF has that got to do with anything :?

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
It happens rarely but the game still should be 45 minutes. You should adjust the half times to make sure the game ends at 2:50 though. Both halves should be the same length but should be as long as possible and not just a default of 40.Ahmet Papadopoulous wrote:I have only been to one game where the reserves game referee has played 45 minutes each way.Hawkesy wrote:So many refs seem to struggle with laws and common sense. The "2009 Management Handbook" from the amateur league, first page, says:
1. KICK OFF TIMES
Thirds/Veterans: 11.30am - 40 minutes each way (10 minute interval)
Reserves: 1.10pm - 45 minutes each way (10 minute interval)
Seniors: 3.00pm - 45 minutes each way (10 minute interval)
Haven't seen the 2010 Management Hanbook yet.

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
5 shirts but if you really need to then apply Law 18, which is the (unwritten) law of COMMON SENSE.
Reserve games should two equal periods of 45 minutes. End of story. So many people think otherwise including current officials. I'm willing to bet most have not read the LOTG or the SAASL competition rules and if they have, not for a very long time.
Anything else you guys want to know?
