Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
Adelaide Uni has worn black since the 1800's.
The refs refuse to adopt any other colour than what they currently have - black and yellow. Why they won't adopt pink or lime green is beyond me.
Clubs having to change tradition because one man won't change his top...ridiculous. A cost of $500-$1500 vs. $30.
I think you will find clubs with history will be cut some slack.
At the Vipers we've already (regretfully in my opinion) changed our colours for the coming season. We were all black the last two seasons.

Black should be banned for all teams as refs should wear black.Lucas Leiva wrote:Adelaide Uni has worn black since the 1800's.

I think you will find maybe 30% of the world's teams use it as an away strip.
Good to see Hawkesy on the refs side for once. Although be careful with an answer like that mate - banning black could have its connotations...

Would you want to wear pink?
Green was traditionally left for keepers.

No - I just want to wear BLACK like we always have! Refs wore purple for years in the 90s (see Socceroos vs Iran for evidence).Zėke wrote:Lucas Leiva wrote:Why they won't adopt pink or lime green is beyond me.

The Blacks in the amateur league are the original soccer club from the uni, the whites, reds etc only came about recently in comparison.Bacon8 wrote:Not Uni Whites.BillyBob wrote:Uni has worn black always as far as I know, sports clubs at the uni have always been nicknamed "The Blacks"
And yeah the Wanderer's used to be Uni Blues in the CSL.
Yeah the Div 1 team had a black and white striped shirt at different stages. But the original shirt was a Black strip with a white V (V for varisty or something), We'll be wearing something similar to that this year.

SO therefore every club's opinion in the amateur league should be overlooked because the refs have been around alot longer?Zėke wrote:Referees have been wearing black a lot longer.Franco UnAmerican wrote:What's that got to do with anything :?Your club has only been around for four years.
Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?

His team is not the only club that wears black...I still don't understand your comments relevance beside making a smart arse comment to keep your post count going.Zėke wrote:Referees have been wearing black a lot longer.Franco UnAmerican wrote:What's that got to do with anything :?Your club has only been around for four years.
Rugby League refs wear Pink so not to clash, can't see why soccer can't accommodate the clubs as well.

Re: SAASL Website & 2010 Fixtures...?
Firstly we play football. Secondly there is already a referee shortage in the SAASL ranks. Forcing them to wear pink will see fewer referees.

You play football I play soccer, this isn't the third reich...
Secondly if they are so insecure in their sexuality that they are scared to wear a colour like pink then god help them.
Get over it, it's just a colour and it contrast well with the majority of sides....Grow up FFS.

Spoke at length with BB about Saturday Division 4 today. Flinders had previously instigated some email discussion and potential solutions have been suggested.

What is so hard about referees carrying 3 different colour tops? - and goalkeepers too.
The reasons are blatantly obvious.

Quite simple really, make the refs one specific colour shirt - the traditional black and it's problem solved. Even if all refs and keepers carried 3 shirts then it still may not be possible for all the strips to not clash as per the laws of the games. Remember, there has to be people wearing 5 different coloured shirts on a football pitch.
Refs wear black and from there on, everyone knows not to wear black. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Five or four? Keepers at both ends can wear the same color as each other. Although I didn't grow up here, when I was a child clubs in the children's leagues were not allowed to wear black or green, which were reserved for officials and goalkeepers.Hawkesy wrote:Quite simple really, make the refs one specific colour shirt - the traditional black and it's problem solved. refs should go skins then there's no clash or they could wear clown suits and then everyone will just no that the ref is the clown.
