a few teams last year had the young players make up the numbers, could see it being less than ten maybe

GULLY BOYZ wrote:Ok heres what was discussed, and will be put forward to the committee,
1) All OVER 35s that will play in the over 35s division will have a different coloured card (yellow?), they can play As Bs Cs or Over 35s if they wish.
2) Maximum of 2 players can be added but must be minimum 30 yo or over and doesnt necessarily have to be same players each week, but must have a card available to be sighted (if need be). Obviously these will be original card colour.
3) Cup games, all the above applies but if ANY player plays up in other cup games (as in As & Bs) then they are no longer eligible to play in any further O/35s cup matches.
4) Cup quarter finals, all players must have played at least 6 league games for the team during that year.
5) All cards must be available for each player on the day (for any objections). If not available then the game CAN still be played but the offending team will assume a forfeit.
6) Any teams that cannot abide by these new rules can nominate for the C team league.

Other things discussed was.
1) Bs and Cs will now acknowledge goal scorers
2) Cs will now have interchange to allow all players to get a fair run.

I have tried to explain it the best way I can, and if we are to have a true Over35s league then this seems the best way to control it.... so........... what do you think. :D

any news on this subject?

I know there arent ALOT of over 35's running around in the C teams we played last year but there were PLENTY of unfit guys struggling to make half time... Surely 'interchange' should be allowed in C team competition

It was mentioned that some from the Masters League may come over to SAASL.

should just merge, would make it easier and a better stand alone competition inside the saasl banner

typical, the year i may play +35's because im too fat and unfit they change the rules, with me being 33, hope we don't have to many boys underage if i play, but just have to work hard in pre season and hopefully get myself a good bit fitter than i am now and still try to get a game in the ressie's, it's hard to change the drinkin habits though, lol. But the rule changes are good to keep the 18-30 year olds out, suming wrong with ye if yer 18 and wantin to play +35's anyway.

Question regarding the fixturing of the Over 35's ...

Does anyone know whether the cup matches are going to be over two legs or anything like that ??

In fact does anyone know the exact dates that have been pencilled in for cup matches for the over 35's

I have checked the "league diary sheet" and the SAASL website, but cant seem to find anything, maybe a swanny would know ??

Just trying to get the fixtures together for our website and I have hit a brick wall

According to the League's website Modbury Jets Over 35 side has been left out altogether. :? :o
Anyone know why? We definitely are having a team so something is not right.

OVER 35’s RULES – SEASON 2010
Player passes for Over 35’s will be marked accordingly, this
however, will not preclude the players for playing in the higher
grades for their respective registered club.
Substitutes – player interchange is allowed.
A maximum of two underage players (min 30 years of age) will be
allowed in any one game.
Any players having played in a Challenge Cup or Reserve Cup round
will not be eligible to play in any subsequent Over 35’s Cup.
Goal keeper remains as per current Cup Championship Rules.
To qualify for the cup round after and including the quarter finals, all
under age players (min 30 years of age) must have played a
minimum of six minor round games.
All games will be of two 40 minute halves, in the case of cup rounds,
in the event of a draw, there will be no extra time, and will be
decided on penalties.
What if these players have missed games due to injury or been at the world cup or something similar?

I cant see any markings whatsoever on the player passes for O35 players, they are no different to anyone elses pass. The only way they can police if someone is eligible is to check every pass before a game and which club ref's are going to do that in all honesty :?: :?: :?:

The club ref will check if the team asks them to. Especially if they see a team with half the guys looking barely twenty. Finally those guys looking younger than their actual age are wishing they looked older :)

The Amatuer league is going to check all game sheets and they have said if it is found that the rules have been broken then that team will be removed from the cup, whether its 1 or 2 weeks later!! This is one question I had brought up at the meeting. Also any player who is registered for the over 35s league will have a completely different coloured rego card. So in a O/35s game all the player passes will be and should be the same colour, if not then someone shouldnt be playing ???  Small hint..... Check the cards !!!

Referees do not police card checks, it is between the 2 teams !

I still think 6 games is excessive to qualify for the cup,

and team sheets can be checked, how do people know if the players actually took the pitch, if their name is on the match sheet?
