This kid got unbelievable pace !! which could tear up some of the defence in EPL team ...
anyway, his finishing and passing need to be improve ... w definitely not world class player, but one of those kind of player to look into for future !!

Pretty harsh and did you see every minute of every Arsenal game? I think that Wenger is best to judge on whetherWalcott has got what it takes. He must have because he hasn't loaned him , which he has done with other young talent.
Re: Unimpressive Walcott
waddle hit it on the head as his main problem is mental, he has the touch and pace, but doesn't make the right runs and often doesn't know what to do with the ball when he gets it in good positions, has too many bad games to a good game, i see arseanal selling him if he doesn't step up next year and cement a spot

Re: Unimpressive Walcott
he has been inconsistant but lets not forget the spate of injuries (two lots of surgeries in the last 2 years) he has gone through over the last 24 months he has missed a lot of football and is only 20, when given consecutive runs in the team he often plays well down the right hand side but every time he plays a few good games he gets injured. i remember 2seasons ago his run v liverpool in champions league game, was incredible.
has a lot of maturing to do and yes he isnt mentally sound YET but he is only 20 to many people forget that! most people were saying the same about song over ther two years and now majority think his been excellant this year and he is only 21. to say he never plays well is a joke and your probably only taking it from the couple of times h has played your team (most people will only watch and rate players this way which is ridiculous seen as it only occurs for the most part twice a year)
given a solid run of game time without injuries im positive he will find consistancy

If he is such a world class player why has he spent so much time on the bench? There is no doubting the potential but he is far from being world class.
Re: Unimpressive Walcott
Well if he can't take on payers that are slightly rough then every time he will play in the future the opposition will play rough with him. Players like Ronaldo and Messi get their legs hacked every week yet seem to kill teams. If Theo can learn to deal with it he will become world class player everyone seems to think he is.ozzie owl wrote: Great idea put him in the Championship side and watch sides kick the crap out of him and lump long balls over his head.

Look at henry at 20.. nothing. Wenger bought him at 22, and then he started to impress.
Walcott still has time to mature, but the question really is, does he have the mind for it. At the moment the answer is no (according to the article).

Re: Unimpressive Walcott
henry was played out of position in his early days as a winger and no one could get the best out of him, wenger played him in his favourite role as a striker and thats all he had to doLitmanen wrote:MUFCBOY wrote:Tony Adams wrote:he has been inconsistant but lets not forget the spate of injuries (two lots of surgeries in the last 2 years) he has gone through over the last 24 months he has missed a lot of football and is only 20, when given consecutive runs in the team he often plays well down the right hand side but every time he plays a few good games he gets injured. i remember 2seasons ago his run v liverpool in champions league game, was incredible.

I still think everything about his time at Arsenal is working against him. They simply don't play a wide game, and that is his strength, i think it's similar to Joe Cole, Yuri Zhirkov, and Malouda at Chelsea to be honest, I know Joe is supposed to play at the top of the Diamond, but those three are natural wingers in a 4 midfield system ( not 4 3 3, where they're forced to defend more)
I think if Man U had bought him he'd be alot better than he already is, simply because Ferguson uses pace on the wings so much more ( much like Hiddink started to do at Chelsea).

for starters cesc and rooney had no where near amount of injuries and surgeries by the same age so where able to see a lot more football.Litmanen wrote:MUFCBOY wrote:Tony Adams wrote:he has been inconsistant but lets not forget the spate of injuries (two lots of surgeries in the last 2 years) he has gone through over the last 24 months he has missed a lot of football and is only 20, when given consecutive runs in the team he often plays well down the right hand side but every time he plays a few good games he gets injured. i remember 2seasons ago his run v liverpool in champions league game, was incredible.

what about guys like drogba, van persie, berbatov, plus the 100's of other quality footballers that hit there strides at a slightly later age?
he is 20 has fuck all football under his belt and yes has a lot 2 grow before being world class but if you have actually seen him play more than a few times u'd know the potential is there.
