No1 rule for skull games is there are no rules. If you look at someone you skull, if you talk to someone you skull, if you breathe you skull, if you dont breathe you skull. basically everything you do will result in a skull. I will have to skull for posting this comment! its gonna be a long day at the Downs.

first and foremost, great day at the downs. hopefully the lad that went off in the bs is ok, his ankle looked proper *uc&ed! barbe was top notch (i went back three times) and felt very welcomed. good contest in the first team and it will be even better next week for the final.also over heard that in 66 West Ham won England the world cup and that was that. the same guy was over heard ordering $60 of chinese for himself, maybe he had one or two to many?

Chris doolan would be one that could fit into 1st div comfortably... munno para show some quality at times. Goober is a great signing who will bring goals and added depth to the downs.

Agreed, but conversely sometimes luck also flatters a team. Whilst poor finishing or failure to close out games or whatever may have cost Para in some games, a crappy run of injuries, crucial decisions and just rotten luck would have contributed in others. It was a fairly luckless season. I am not trying to make excuses or whatever, I agree that MP didn't deserve to stay up, but I would contend that MP were not dwarfed in standard by the other teams or out of their depth and indeed I don't think that the gap from division 3 to division 2 is anywhere near as large as the gap from division 2 to division 1.

Just a side note re: seasons going pear shaped, didn't the Gardens almost drop out of Div 1 the same year as they won the cup?

I'm sorry, exactly how many games have you watched Munno Para play? That is kinda like me saying that your posts are the worst posts on the entire forum, when I have not read anywhere near all of them. I would be just guessing (But i bet the odds would be pretty good).

Regardless I think that you'll find that we have never been "A grade div 1" and last I checked there was not a thread called "All the Para players that think they can play A grade Div 1". So exactly what is your point? Do you realise your post is three shades of stupid? If MP, or any other team were to make it to Div.1, as mentioned by others, they would generally be able to entice more players to the club.

That sir would be another fail.

Dont forget theres a band on after sundays finals as well, Graftin Blues they tell me.
Marooned you have to skull for making me sit there sober while you, tit and tim were reminising about the good old days at high school and all the sexy women you three never got to kiss or fondle.
Also good to see the big fella coach have a run as well and was quite funny when he just brushed off the defender and danced his way into the box..Grove had thier chances with Benny A making a few cracking saves to keep it at 0-0. Finals next week will we see the return of the mighty banya who was rested....

Luck had very little to do with last season for MP. It came down to attitude a lot of the time. And whilst MP showed that could match it in Div 2 for periods of time, they were not good enough, consistently enough. Div 2 should have tought MP that you can not let you guard down for 5 minutes or you get hurt. If the first game of the year did not teach them that, then surely TTG would have. Injuries are something all teams have to deal with and MP were not hurt that badly by them!! It simply came down to desire, discipline and hard work and whilst it was there from some, sadly, others simply just didn't show enough of it.

I agree with most of what you said and as mentioned I don't think MP deserved to stay up either. My point about luck was just a generalised one in response to the comment that "good teams find a way to win when they are playing badly". My main point about MP were that that they were not dwarfed by the competitions standard and player for player they had just as good a team as most others. Something certainly didn't fall into place and attitude is certainly a percentage of that 'something' but not the only factor.
Regarding injuries: finishing in front of goal was a major issue at times and there were significant problems keeping strikers on the field so I would suggest that they had much more of an impact than what you suggest (especially when the difference between staying up or going down was only three points),

Not from what I saw...!! It was an issue but there are bigger issues that need to be resolved before MP find their way back to div 2  . But anyway, good luck. I'm sure I will pop in and sew a game every now and then this year again.

Unsure why Reevesy played but did and played well. Barney played and came off with a injured ankle. Sam played a full game in reserves coming back from a driver injury if im correct. Goober started also up front.

so you played c2.1 this year or what 3 quid?

Yeah cheers for that marooned I picked it up from old marys house last night and me and the missus dont even drink scotch..I am sure I can get rid of it at a network night. Swannsong it was work related had to stay sober as I was on call. Next time I will definetly give it up and drink as I never quite realised how boring some of my mates really are..Timmy its your shout this week...
Also heard theres a dvd of the adventures of downslow man in darwin..
The band apparently is called "fusion" like the drink Marooned loves so much not graftin blues as previously mentioned. I sincerly appolagise for mentioning "graftin blues" in a thread relating to the downs soccer club, it was not my intention to have the name graftin blues associated with any illegal activty that may occur or to cause embarassment to anyone associated with "graftin blues"     I must of been sober..
