Everton's Fellaini out for season

Post by toonarmy#9 »

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to miss the rest of the season after being told he needs surgery on the ankle he damaged in the Merseyside derby.

The 22-year-old Belgian was substituted in the February 6 fixture after a crunching tackle with Liverpool's Sotirios Kyrgiakos, who was sent off.

Everton manager David Moyes believes Fellaini will be absent for around six months, meaning he could return for the start of next season.

Moyes told the club's website: "He's not good. He's going to have an operation. He's got a similar injury to Robin van Persie and it's probably going to keep him out for six months."

Arsenal striker Van Persie suffered ankle ligament damage in November, while on Holland duty, and has not yet returned to action.

Moyes added: "Fellaini is not good. He has an injury similar to Robin van Persie and that could keep out for six months. We will not be sure until the operation takes place.

"He has played really well this season and been part of the reason behind our improvement. He has been a big miss to us already."

Kygriakos is a pitiful player by EPL standards. You would hope he is out for as long as possible.

your reference to "great form" is a relative concept. If he played for some of the bit part EPL teams from recent years like Barnsley, Bradford, Palace etc then his form may have been acceptable. However he is completely indicative of the average standards Liverpool have been accepting and why thay have failed to win a Premier League crown. Search your history mate he's not fit to lace the boots of Lawro, Hansen, Thompson, Gillespie, Beglin etc etc crikey I'd rather have Glenn Hysen!

for fucks sake i cant believe the level of debate on this over and over and over and over again, the concept is not hard to undertand at all.

HE WAS BOUGHT AS A F-O-U-R-T-H CHOICE CENTRE BACK!!

he plays now and then, why?
Glen Johnson is injured, Cags moves to RB.
Skrtl is having a barry of a year.
Aggar is doing his best impression of Darren Anderton this year.

1.5m
over 50 intl caps for his country
wears heart on his sleeve
bargain in anyones language for 4th choice.

He is not to be compared with Vidic, Terry & Gallas but more like Johnny Evans or De Laet, Silvestre or Sol Campbell (yes he is about 4th choice eh!) and Chelsea's 4th choice centre back Bruma who ive never heard of.

This should finalise all debates on worthyness...........

You must have low expectations of your team if you are happy having a player like Kygriakos. Just another really bad signing by Benitez.

Don't Chelsea have Terry, Carvalho, Alex & Ivanovic as their first 4 choices? Means this Bruma fella would be at least 5th choice

Why buy Kyrgiakos ?

Should have just kept Hyypia surely?

He's playing well, but it seems like an unnecessary purchase..

Hyypia wanted a multi-year contract. Not sure if its prudent for a 34 year old.

This post really should have ended all discussion. He's right, with the possible exception of Bruma being 4th choice CB for Chelsea. Whilst Ivanovic is normally a fullback, hes capable of playing CB and would surely be picked there ahead of Bruma or any other unknowns.

Thank You. You don't have to be a natural CB to play CB

Probably. Dissapointed such a loyal servent didnt get the additional year he wanted.
However, that is beside the point.

But when an experienced defender who's 4th choice leaves, expectedly he will be replaced like for like.

And as above:
1.5m
over 50 caps for greece
plenty of european experience
lower wage than hyypia and 4 years younger.

good move.
