Portsmouth website shut down
Portsmouth have confirmed that their official club website has been shut down because of payment problems.
Pompey, who are bottom of the Premier League, have failed to keep up with instalments to Juicy, the company that runs and maintains the site.
The electronic perimeter advertising boards were switched off for Tuesday's game with West Ham for the same reason.
A club spokesman said: "Our website is down because the club failed to keep to the plan agreed with our provider."
Supporters attempting to access www.portsmouthfc.co.uk are greeted with the message Website Unavailable.
The site will continue to be offline until all outstanding payments have been made to Juicy, who have refused to comment on the matter.
Portsmouth still have £60m of debt and face a winding-up order in the high court on 10 February that could result in the the south-coast outfit becoming the first Premier League club to go into administration.
An embargo on transfers was lifted by the Premier League on Tuesday, although Portsmouth will only be allowed to bring in free transfers or loan signings.
Pompey have also failed to pay their players on time on three occasions this season, while they were only able to name five out of a possible seven substitutes against Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday because of injuries and absences in their squad.
Staff at the club have also been warned that their January wages might be late.
Meanwhile, Pompey fans are planning another protest march against the way their club is being run.
Supporters have chosen the next home match against Stoke City on 20 February for their latest demonstration.

Pompey's new chant: "PAY UP POMPEY, POMPEY PAY UP"
Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”
60 goals, never to be equalled.

To be honest, I can't really see how they're unable to keep the site going! The costs can't be that much like Ronaldo said.Scudetto8687 wrote:Yeah its as simple as that you mental case.

Most of the EPL club websites are quite complex and have integrated ticketing systems hanging off them that need regular updates and maintenance. If the company that hosts and maintains the site is not getting paid as agreed - whether its 10 squid a week or 10,000 - then they have every right to withdraw that service.
It just highlights how badly the club is being run.

Time for some righteous indignation

Sadly the pending collapse of Pompey, is sadly reflection of the endemic in he English game. The overseas investors who use the EPL as a play ground ultimately don't care about the mess they leave behind, think this will be the first of many.
