promising young talent moving overseas
i beleive there has been quite a few players moving overseas in search of a professional career ie. Bradden Inman, i would like to see peoples opinions on how necessary this is at such a young age.

Nothing wrong with chasing a dream at any age. The reality is you need to be exceptional to make it. I might add you also need a little luck too. So, in my opinion go for it.... but keep your feet on the ground and take it for the experience it offers. Take on board as much advice as you can and make your own valued decision on whether to have a go or not.

This topic points out what I have been trying to comment on in several other topics. The most talented and driven of our youngsters will leave at an earlier and earlier age, to join an academy in the big time European market is always going to be seen as more benficial to a chance of having a career than it is to stay in Australia and have a chance to play A-League eventually.
People calling for AUFC to sign up Burns and Djite on long term contracts need to get a dose of reality into them. These guys have potentially already missed the boat , we will seldom get to know the new breed of youngsters, before they set sail for foreign shores.
I know of Bradden through Little Athletics, but others who have played with him are the only ones who know him , and good luck to him when he gets to Europe I hope things work out.
The most important thing in this process is that there is someone guiding these people , for the ones that do not make it far outnumber those that do, and someone has to be around to put their lives back on track when the news hits home that they are not the next big-time pro they have been brought up to think they are.

this forum was not started about one individual player, i believe the focus was on whether people believe that it is necessary or not to leave overseas at a young age to play football for all players in general. So please feel free to discuss this matter but maybe not the one regarding this player.MegaBonus wrote:why would any1 want to bag a 14yo for doing what he loves. he's not the type of guy to diss it out, so why the agro?????

if opportunity is there why not take it, as long as it's what the kid wants. Sometimes it may be what the parent wants, and the kid goes along for the ride trying to please the parent. The parent has to be with the kid until a certain age in Europe anyway, so what's the big deal about age? If any kid is good enough to be invited to trial/play overseas they would be daft or not driven enough to say no, as long as it's legit of course.
As long as there's no youth league (or Reserves) comp in A-League the kids will be leaving our shores, left right & centre - no opportunity here at that age, not for everyone anyway. What an opportunity for some of the elite 14 or 15 year olds to play in a National Youth league each week instead of just once or twice a year in State Champ comps! I'd rather watch elite local youngsters playing against other state youngsters than say the NZ Knights A-Leaguers! or most of the other clubs in A-League for that matter. Especially if you know some of them!
The players in the A-League squads that miss out for 2 or 3 weeks, how do they get their match fitness? F%$#n difficult, so after sitting on bench, come on for 15 mins and expected to score goals - it's a joke this A-League setup IMHO. It's a fancied up Phillips League of the 80's, but still no real National Youth comp.
And you wonder why the kids leave our shores so early. The passionate ones HAVE to leave otherwise they'll end up on those A-League benches and waste away.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching the A-League, but when you mention the youngsters comin up - most of them hit a brick wall, and don't know which way to turn.
I think that every kid that's serious about their football would be praying at night that they are approached from an overseas football agent.
is that more to the topic T.H.14

 I wuld just like to say that
a) none of you can comment on the choices Bradden or any other young person has made and will be making but himself..so i think bradden wuldn't have of gone overseas if he didn't want to go!
b) the majority of u that think he is 'soft', it's funni coz i would rather watch a SKILLFUL player than a hot headed, hogs the ball, gets yellows, no sportsman ship player. well thats my opinion.
c) You need to realise that he is a young boy that is following his dream and the peoples that are bagging him must be jealous coz their not the one's over there, he is following HIS dream!! :!:
Oh yer how do any of u really noe wat his parents think, how do u noe bradden doesn't want to live there and not come back to his supposed called 'friends' and how do u noe he wasn't invited out - coz he was so peoplz get ur facts rite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which club did he go to? Does anyone know?
I have an 8 year old son, played club football for last 2 years.(above his age) technically very good for his age but small physically.
At this age i think its all about technique. Other aspects of the game can be learnt later. For the next 3 years i want to work on his technique, passing/receiving, shooting with both feet, dribbling, imporve his juggling.(did almost 300 juggles at 7 years of age) loves practicing especially shooting on goal playing small sided games.
Hopefully he'll make the new ffsa academy because at the moment there is nothing here for talented kids untill they're at least 11.
what do you guys think about this new ffsa academy thats happening next year.

I think fun for the lad would be a priority, wouldn't it?
yer, dats the way 2 go at this stage, dont want to over do it, otherwise the kid may get sick of it after being pushed at such a young age.Nova wrote::? Hmmmmmbeskid wrote:Which club did he go to? Does anyone know?

promising young talent moving overseas
Once again the topic seems to have reverted back to Bradden Inman. All I can say is this kid must be good for such a general topic to be based on him.
Megs-69 I don't know who you are son but it sounds like you've eaten a lot of sour grapes in your time - jealousy is a curse sunshine.
Its funny how all you "tough guys" out there are willing to bag a young boy for having drive and ambition - maybe something you are all lacking, are you committed enough to make such a massive life changing move??? Or let me guess, you've never been offered the opportunity.
And I must say congratulations to James Troisi for being picked in the Newcastle squad - now this boy is 18 and has been overseas for how long now??? At least 3 years now which means he would have started his journey at the same age as Bradden and I don't see any of you questioning his decision.
When did Bradden go overseas? From what I hear he has been gone for a few months now so he must be doing alright, and a Premier League club such as Newcastle United would not just let a mum "find a phone number" or pull some strings - they have to want him to be there, which quite obviously they do.
All of you boys which have played football with Bradden and I'm sure have also called him friend why don't you show him some support for his decision and wish him all the best rather than want to see him fail.
