Vale were asked early on in the piece late last year when the ball started rolling, and they weren too keen as they had already booked in trial games for Feb and also Chris Wasnt too keen on the early start.

He was in full support of the comp though and said it was a great idea but the timing would not suit what he was looking for.

Really looking forward to it now after lots of talk with the council and SAASL. Council are actually putting up $1000 prise money for the winner!

Same question for you too - will the 4 team tournament at Veneto Club that Wanderers are holding have games re-scheduled/cancelled when it starts late Feb?

Heard a rumour that 1 of the 4 teams had pulled out???

No problems with Rexie organising it that way after all it would seem that it has actually been his hard work that has got this tournament up and running hopefully as something for the calendar every year that will see all clubs involved reap the benefit.

I don't think so redfred I believe that all teams will take it in turns. It was I believe the Downs idea to resurrect it and they did all the work to get it up and running so we can't begrudge them hosting this year.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they will still go ahead. They might play 20 minute quarters if its too hot!

Should be a good day out on Sunday for the opening round - games start at 10am and the last game kicks off at 4pm - bar and food available and some very fine athletes on show - particularly I am told on the Downs reserves bench! Good luck to all the teams involved.
