I hope not because I'm hoping to find a loop hole next year that allows me to play SAASL on a saturday and "Over 35's" on a sunday.

I might have to finally admit my real age in order to do so though. Do you have to be 35 by the start of the season or just by matchday?

I don't think the SAASL allows dual registration, although if you ask me they shouldn't have jurisdiction on what you do elsewhere.

No they don't but seeing as they are basically not talking to each other. How will they ever know?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I intend playing Sunday morning over 35's this year but don't know a soul playing for any team so I though I might advertise my services here (ooer missus, nooooh MATRON!!)

Anyone here playing this year who thinks their team might need players please drop me a line..

I live Yorke Peninsula so won't be turning out for any mid-week training sessions though :?

Some points discussed was that
1/ If you play O35s then thats where you play, not eligible to play Cs Bs As. (who would want to anyway)
Not sure I like this rule suggestion too much, sometimes you need these older guys to make up team numbers on certain weekends.
Just stick with the age rules suggested.

i agree with swany if your over 35 you should be able to play for any team. what happens if your playing a's or b's and get dropped and your club dont have a c team? cook the barbie!!!

Ok heres what was discussed, and will be put forward to the committee,
1) All OVER 35s that will play in the over 35s division will have a different coloured card (yellow?), they can play As Bs Cs or Over 35s if they wish.
2) Maximum of 2 players can be added but must be minimum 30 yo or over and doesnt necessarily have to be same players each week, but must have a card available to be sighted (if need be). Obviously these will be original card colour.
3) Cup games, all the above applies but if ANY player plays up in other cup games (as in As & Bs) then they are no longer eligible to play in any further O/35s cup matches.
4) Cup quarter finals, all players must have played at least 6 league games for the team during that year.
5) All cards must be available for each player on the day (for any objections). If not available then the game CAN still be played but the offending team will assume a forfeit.
6) Any teams that cannot abide by these new rules can nominate for the C team league.

Other things discussed was.
1) Bs and Cs will now acknowledge goal scorers
2) Cs will now have interchange to allow all players to get a fair run.

I have tried to explain it the best way I can, and if we are to have a true Over35s league then this seems the best way to control it.... so........... what do you think. :D

Hi Lefty, there was a whisper there could well be 2 Divisions, dont know how true but, apparently a few of the Over 35 teams from "the other league" may want to come over ? Be good if comes together.

Pretty much everything I said that should happen. Good ideas re the cup but maybe 6 league games to play in the quarters is a bit high. I would of thought 4 was fair.

I did take in what you were suggesting in your previous replies Jay, so I noted everyones input and we came up with this scenario. So you can be happy that you do write common sense........... sometimes !
Agree with Pecker also about the 1130 kick off times, but I think it is only Modbury Jets Old Boys that are at 1.30pm ??? I hope. Think we will look at playing them on a friday or saturday night game at our ground, if that was in their interest as well.

The 11.30 KO will be a problem with pitch availability at some clubs like ours where the E&D juniors have pitches booked until 12pm. We have U14's & U15's (9am KO) & colts (1030am KO) not to mention senior women & u15 girls who also play sunday.

With having mens A,B & C teams as well I think our over 35's would be looking for a 1215 or 1230pm KO.

And if this was to go ahead which teams can get together a full o/35s team ? This was what I was asked last year from the League, and now has asked me to call them back this time of the year to organise it for next year. No point getting it organised and have 4 or 5 clubs able to be available ! Would need at least 6 to 8 to start with would say??

what about the 18 0r 19 year old kids that dont want to have the shit kicked out of them in the c grade comp , but luv to play the game for fun .... we,ve all played them in the past .... for anyone playing in the over 35,s for medals or trophies or league titles go back to c grade your to young . i mean we all want to win but when your 6 nil up and your sweeper traps the ball on the edge of your 18 yard box and turn,s around and puts the fucking in the top corner ... and we,re the only 2 th laughs ... thats what im talkiung .

So you think it is totally fine for a 19 year old kid to be chasing around a 45/50 year old man or vice versa?

If the kid needs to play in the over 35's, he needs to pick another sport. People play O/35's to enjoy playing against other men there age, not little 19 year old whippier snipers. That is plainly bad sportsmanship.

Are there many 18/19 year old that get kicked to pieces in a game? The C comp is for guys who either don't train or can't make the B's. O/35's are for those who can talk a better game that they use to play

Just read the new rules and I agree fully. I was getting sick of chasing :clown: young lads around the field. Also agree with the cup rules. Well done I say.

Now that clubs have sent in team rego forms it will be interesting to see how many teams there will be in O35's. By memory there were 14 teams last year & there's been some discussion about 2 divisions this year how might this be worked out.
