Re: january transfer window
I'm so happy that you all agree. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling of being loved. I have sent my CV to Messrs Hicks and Gillett but heard nothing yet.
More seriously, I don't expect any manager to sign only stars, irrespective of how much money they have, but Rafa's problem is that his signings have pretty much either been brilliant or awful with not much in between. So if his brilliant players are injured, out of form or whatever, the rest look pretty ordinary. It's hard to overestimate how much difference a fully fit and flying Stevie G makes to that team.
The strange thing to me is, just about everyone I know, who's not a Pool fan, has been saying for a couple of seasons that they were a two man team (we didn't realise either how important Alonso was), but Rafa seemed to just ignore it or be unaware of the impending problem. I do think he's trying to address this with the purchase of Aquilani and Rodriguez but he's left it late. They are the sort of players (not superstars but solid pros) he should have been buying 2 years ago.

Baptista to Inter!
Bit of over kill IMO, signed a better striker in Pandev, dont really need him.

Re: january transfer window
Ok, im sorry to add more comments about Liverpools poor form and management but i feel i have to! Rafa looks like he is going to be swaping Ryan Babel for Kenwyne Jones of Sunderland!!! What is his problem?? Yes, Babel has not been the greatest but exchanging him for a mediocre striker from a mediocre team?? Surely not! Is he completely blind when it comes to picking quality for a team that should be challengig for the title!!
Re: january transfer window
TBH I rate Kenwyn Jones. If it was a straight swap, Babel for Jones, I'd go for that. Babel is a donkey, Jones is quality IMO.Ian_Wright wrote:Ok, im sorry to add more comments about Liverpools poor form and management but i feel i have to! I hope Liverpool get to keep Babel and get Kenwyn Jones and then make an offer for Geoff Thomas to come out of retirement and maybe Carlton Palmer, Darius Vassell, Keith Curle and all the other crap players that have disgraced other teams then we may get our wish and see "history and tradition" playing for the last bit of league silverware they won - in the Championship!!!!!
Never argue with an idiot - they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Re: january transfer window
so sick of this liverpool forum
everything just turns into talk about rafa and more people saying Alonso this, Alonso that
simple fact of the matter is, a quality team will continue to win games when they lose a big player like Alonso
take Man United for instance, Ronaldo is a far more dominant player then Alonso, yes they dont play in the same position but how can one man be responsible for your poor form
you got lucky last year, cant see you getting anywhere near the top 2 with the current coach, imo he is the reason you guys are playing poor, not Alonso or the injuries (you won without torres and gerrard last year)
rant over

Nothing official has been released and can only hope it stays that way. I can't see what he could possibly add to our squad.INTERISTA wrote:Baptista to Inter!

I don't like lies. I have understood your market where sometimes lies sell more than truth. This is your life and I don't like it. I understand your work and I have to work with you, but the protection of my group is much more important than you

Re: january transfer window
ronaldo was prolific in scoring goals. if it weren't for players like scholes, giggs, fletcher, carrick he wouldn't of even gotten much of the ball. the reason why liverpool can't win games or kill them off is because we don't create many chances as lucas isn't as good as alonso. you can't win games unless you create chances and for the last time no we were not lucky, we had character. we fought to the end in most games and got the result. we played brilliant football and we had confidence. something we lack this year. liverpool is a big topic on this forum because most non pools supporters like to give us shit as they envy just how great our club has been in the pastChelsea4thewin wrote:so sick of this liverpool forum

thats what i have said. in big games alonso was always up for it regardless of his form/confidence whereas lucas gets nervous if he isn't playing well. he also drops his head if we fall behind while alonso would lif the team.MUFCBOY wrote:totsreds08 wrote:ronaldo was prolific in scoring goals. if it weren't for players like scholes, giggs, fletcher, carrick he wouldn't of even gotten much of the ball. the reason why liverpool can't win games or kill them off is because we don't create many chances as lucas isn't as good as alonso. you can't win games unless you create chances and for the last time no we were not lucky, we had character. we fought to the end in most games and got the result. we played brilliant football and we had confidence. something we lack this year. liverpool is a big topic on this forum because most non pools supporters like to give us cabernet as they envy just how great our club has been in the pastChelsea4thewin wrote:so sick of this liverpool forum

Back on topic but still about Liverpool. Hardly a scoop but reports in England say that Rafa will sign Kenwyne Jones on loan from Sunderland today.
I must say, I'm a bit surprised that Bruce would let him go tbh.

Aronica has been keeping him out of the side, and Datolo was keen for game time to push for a World Cup spot.

Re: january transfer window
what is it with these average joes that rafa is looking at?
is he saying "okay, don't give me more money, i'll sign what i can for what money i'm allocated"?

my point is - just because u play for a mediocre team, doesn't mean u cant be good .. those players are the top 3 scorers for few seasons and they play for midiocre team !!A-Mac wrote:Your point?ronaldo07 wrote:Kevin Philips, James Beattie, even Doyle once become the top 3 scorer in EPL few seasons ago .. and where are they now ??
Re: january transfer window
I've always rated Kenwyn Jones as a player with a huge amount of potential, that hasn't fulfilled it - much the same is Ryan Babel.
Tommy: We've lost Gorgeous George.
Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?
