Sunday Premier League 2010 Preview
Just a bit of a write up on each team with my thoughts etc and the rumours so far. Feel free to add to it.
Salisbury Florina
2009 Finished: Champions
Rumoured In: Michael Brooks, Jamie Hart, Ross (Vale Res GK)
Rumoured Out: Evan Dimitridias, Trevor Elliot
Azza took over Florina and gave them what they needed, some discipline. A very strong attack saw them score plenty of goals and a defence built around Hoey and Hullsy saw them score more than they conceded to win the league. This year is different thought, no one will underestimate them, no one will wait for them to self destruct and everyone will want to beat the champions.
The Burning Question? Can they repeat it in 2010 and apply themselves with the same manner after breaking through for the first major trophy.
Elizabeth Downs
2009 Finished: 2nd
Rumoured In: Michael Cartwright,
Rumoured Out: Benny Alridge, Bert Fuda, Chris Orange, Danny Hain, Red Andrews.
Tony Reeves takes over from the powerhouses of the SAASL. A few rumours of players following Motts to Salisbury but no doubt they will be easily replaced if true. Money to burn, a new president, new enthusiasm and new coach but can they continue the high standard they set for themselves.
The Burning Question? How many players will actually leave and who will they bring in? Tony will have plenty of contacts so it might be a big year for the Downs again.
Ingle Farm
2009 Finished: 3rd
Rumoured In: As if I would say . Not looking for very many as we feel we have a good squad.
Rumoured Out: Lee Cockrill, Rob Greenwood
3 years in Div 1 and three years of having a chance to win the league but not quite getting there. The only team Farm didn’t beat last year was Florina. A four week period where we took only 2 points from the bottom 4 teams ended our championship hunt. Winning the cup was great but the league is still the aim
The Burning Question? Can Farm show consistent winning form over the full year.
Fulham
2009 Finished:4th
Rumoured In: Robbie Sareceno (Spelling)
Rumoured Out: ?
A slow start last year but had a real purple patch to finish higher than most would of predicted. A core of experienced, skilful players always make them a danger and if they can gain a bit more depth, they could push for top 3. A run of injuries and suspensions could see struggling.
Burning Question? Can they fill the couple of holes they need to challenge for the title? Can they not have an argument after training about Poker?
Para Hills West
2009 Finished: 5th
Rumoured In: Colin Griffiths, Michael Cartwright
Rumoured Out: Doran, Russell Harris,
The wheels fell off towards the end of last year as a bit of interest seemed lost. Picked up some creativity in the midfield and with Griffths signing on, they will have some good strike power. New coach with new ideas may add some extra class to their ranks to go along with their determination. Club room extensions should be completed by the time the season starts
The Burning Question? A coach fresh out from England, will he be able to attract some quality players, will he be able to give Westies a different edge to again challenge for the title.
Elizabeth Vale
2009 Finished: 6th
Rumoured In: Chris Nicholls, Armstrong brothers
Rumoured Out: Michael Brooks
Will they continue the rollercoaster ride of the last few seasons. The 2008 champions lost a lot of quality players in 2009 and promoted a lot of youngsters. Whilst still learning the game, they gave their all and helped Vale to a respectable 6th when the season could of been much worse than that. Credit must go to Brooksy for that.
The Burning Question? Nicholls will score them goals, can he attract some other players to solidify their midfield and defence
Pontian Eagles
2009 Finished: 7th
Rumoured In: ?
Rumoured Out? Paul Pezos
Destined to be the 2009 whipping boys, Paul Pezos came to the club and gave them some belief and a game plan. It paid off as they moved from bottom to finish 7th. Can they continue to build from their second half of last season?
The Burning Question? Will Pezos stay after taking on a coaching role at Federation and continue the good work he started.
Parafield Gardens
2009 Finished 8th
Rumoured In:
Rumoured Out: Mohammed
At their best, Parafield are in the best 3 in the league, at their worst, they are terrible. I saw both the good and the bad last year and as the season went on, the worst it looked for Parafield. After the hype at the start of 2009, Parafield appear to be much more reserved this season and I think they will be the big mover of 2010. With Paul Ebomo in the middle, they have someone they can build a team around.
The Burning Question? Can they have a year were they aren’t decimated with injuries and find the consistency to beat the teams they should be week in and week out.
Adelaide Vikings
2009 Finished: Champions of Div 2
Rumoured In: ?
Rumoured Out?
I don’t know a lot about Vikings. I painfully sat through their Reserves Cup Final Victory and they had a couple of first teamers who looked like they had some good touch. Very hard to come up from Div 2 to Div 1 and depth is the key. Some clubs may take them easy and this could work to their advantage.
The Burning Question? Who is coming to them and do they have enough depth. Wouldn’t surprise me to see them in the top 4-5
West Beach
2009 Finished: Runners Up
Rumoured In?
Rumoured Out: John Manca
The Beach Boys bounced straight but up into the Premier League after their relegation in 2008. Always a hard working team with a strong core group of players, a consistent goal scorer is one of the things they have missed. No coach at the moment isn’t a good sign but they are a club that would rally against something like that so I don’t think it will have a huge effect.
The Burning Question? Can they sign enough to give them some early points to avoid another relegation scrap? Will Longbomb finally make his presence felt in a game rather than just training. Hopefully they have a good season as they are a great little club.
These are just the rumours I have heard and my opinion. Feel free to add yours

Re: Sunday Premier League 2010 Preview
Hi Jay hope you had a good new year.
I would say B A will def be stayn in goals for the Downs.
Dont know about Jarrod for gdns. He is workn really hard to get a spot up front for Sails.
As for teams and how they will go Im sure Aaron will make sure he has the men to continue his run.
Wont talk about Downs......
I think all Simmo needs is a couple more players to climb that little bit further he is almost there.
I dont beleive Westies are good enough for a hole season thats only my opp.
Fulham have the side that i feel will give it a shake this year if they get the players iwas told there gettn theyll be up there.
Vale, well i wish CHRIS all the best but he has to find some sponsors and get some experienced men to work with his youngsters and make sure he has another good year in front of the onion bag.
Gdns boys def need a lot of work they have a couple of good players in paul and kaffa but apart from that not much to talk about if there loosn Mohamad thats a big loss because if he got the shit out of his game a great damaging players theyre a no for me.
Pontians have not heard to much about them execpt Paul leaving but we new that last year another hard side to pick for me.
West beach always work hard and great bunch of lads wish them well for this year.
Vikings are a huge question mark im sure there going to be a very good side coming up to the premier league i have been told by several people they wont be easy beats and knowing a couple of them theyll be a hard group to break.
Dont take anything to heart guys enjoy your year . ps whats Brooksy doing are you out there bud.

I would assume Ginger might follow Dallas back to the Vale.
What is Rusty Harris doing?

Johnny Manca is still at West Beach.
He won't be coaching West Beach as he will coaching at Pirates on training nights.
But he will be playing.
Great asset.

Big commitment but good for Pontians if he does. They looked a much better side with him in control from the sidelines. Is Paradiso staying?BWB_12 wrote:Paul will be coaching Pontians this year

Heard that Pontians will be playing from Ferryden Park all year which is a great ground especially for amateurs!
Pezos will coach and might get a few lads from Olympic if they dont make the seniors there. As for Paradiso not too sure heard he hasnt been at training yet?
