Accommodation is in twin share tents. These 3 man tents are quite spacious and easily fit 2 adults. Pillows and sleeping mats are provided but sleeping bags are not.
Campgrounds are clean, spacious, safe and modern and are of the same standard as those in the west. Really! All have TV's to watch the games (that’s if we aren’t at the fan zones), BBQ's and are well away from the centre of town making them a bit of a haven for our group. A few other travel companies will be staying in the same campgrounds as us so expect loads of fun and frivolity!
Many people don’t realise that all hostels/hotels are already full for the dates of our trip. That’s why we are camping! Same applies with trucks/vans and flights. I should know, I've contacted over 100 different local companies over the last month, and believe it or not all were full even before the draw was released! Read=not enough accom in SA. This is not Germany 2006!
All local operators have doubled, or even quadrupled their prices. Dorm beds that normally cost 25 AUD per night are up to 100 AUD. Insane! All are full now anyway.
The Fanatics (hmmm...) release their tours on Jan 15th and I can tell you that this trip will be much better value than theirs.
If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Big Kev

Okay promote yourselved but it was the same 8-10 songs in the same order over and over, yeah it was a bloody good night in that square, the atmosphere was sensational, the local germans added to the festivities, but yes, it was a tented area selling beers, then as a result of the win against Japan and what it meant and the manner in which we won, the atmosphere was as I said sensational, I took some pgotos from the window updatirs in Burger King, where almost everyone there had a piss, gooneroz wrote:ahaha 9 songs....

Yeah the Aussie songs went down an absolute treat, and kudos for you if you had the ipod or CD, but to say you organise that or even scripted it, it promoting yourself too much,
If you had organised events, where were your Munich (brazil Game) and Stuttgart (Croatia game) events or What about when back in K-Town, as surely if you organised something leading up to the match, there would be something on after the Italy game ?????
like me saying my cheering against Croatia was what helped Harry equalise !!

Re: Cheer on the Socceroos at the 2010 World Cup!
where did anyone say they organised these events...
all that is stated is that we were responsible for the entertainment..
spontanious and unorganised.....thats what made it so good....
this trip however is organised...well planned...safe and extrememly budget friendly...unlike the $10k + being charged by other tours...

Can I blame the fat guy who stood up in the Japan Game, to start a "Stand up for The Socceroos" chant, when Japan scored, as that was spontanious and definately unorganised. I mean credit where credit's due

If you can organised better entertainment than that, then you can brag

Re: Cheer on the Socceroos at the 2010 World Cup!
The Fanatics Tour
Day 1 – Thursday 10 June 2010 – Arrive Durban
Arrive at Fanatics HQ today for the start of your 16 night football extravaganza. Upon check in you will go through a bio-metric security process that will include fingerprint scanning which will be your way of entering in and out of the stadium for your stay.
We’ll then show you the way to your pre-erected tent. You’ll have the rest of the day to kick back in our chill out zone or head to the bar to meet the incoming tourists. If you are a little jaded why not head 800 metres down to the beach to blow away the jet lag.
Tonight we will be kicking things off with our opening party at Fanatics HQ so make sure you’re back in time for the entertainment.
Overnight: Durban
Day 2 – Friday 11 June – Opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and potential Socceroo Training
This morning we’ll be running through a tour of the facilities including and introduction from your tour hosts.
Mark Bosnich and Mel McLaughlin will be on tour with us from today up until the match in Nelspruit when they will change over with Charlie Yankos and Frank Arok who have been with our Cape Town passengers. Charlie and Frank will then join us as hosts for the 2nd half of the tour.
12:00 midday: Each day our hosts will be running a football panel to discuss the upcoming matches. Join them for their unique insights and what will be an open forum for your questions and feedback. Then kick back and enjoy a drink with our hosts as we watch the opening match of the tournament.
Subject to FIFA access rules and team management there may also be an opportunity to see the Socceroos train today or tomorrow in Durban. While there is no guarantee that this is taking place we are already in discussions with team management about this and we will know more details when we release the final itinerary in May.
4:00pm: The opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ kicks off with South Africa playing Mexico. Either head into the live site which is starts down the road from Fanatics HQ or watch it on the big screens at Fanatics HQ.
If you are looking for something to do locally this morning why not take the opportunity to cast an eye over Durban, and get the full cultural experience early in your trip at ‘the Vic’, the Victoria Street Market. Open daily; the markets will be transformed in time for the FIFA World Cup to accommodate the influx of tourists vying for the huge section of foods, spices and souvenirs available.
Overnight: Durban
Day 3 – Saturday 12 June – Six-a-side then Powderfinger and Electric Mary
Durban is most famous for its sandy stretch of breathtaking beach called the Golden Mile which is less than 800 metres from the front door of Fanatics HQ. While it will be cool in many cities north of Durban during your visit to South Africa, Durban is sub-tropical and the Golden Mile is known for its warm sea temperatures and constant sunshine. Because it is on the Indian Ocean, warm currents mean that winter in Durban is like summer so why not spend the morning down the beach.
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
This afternoon we will be playing a six-a-side tournament at the park outside Fanatics HQ. We will be posting some info on the forums in the lead up to the event so you can get a team together.
Tonight Fanatics HQ will be the epicentre of Australian football fans as Australia’s next big band; Electric Mary kick off tonight’s entertainment before the biggest band in Australia, Powderfinger, play an exclusive concert in the big top at Fanatics HQ.
Buckle up for what promises to be a massive night!
Overnight: Durban
Day 4 – Sunday 13 June – Australia v Germany in Durban
Today the Socceroos kick off their 2010 tournament against the 6th ranked team in the world, 3 times Champion Germany at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
In the morning if you are looking for something to do to beat the nerves you could walk down the beach promenade to the top tourist destination in Durban.
Sunshine Casino and Entertainment World is so exclusive, it holds its own private beach. The casino itself is a sight to behold, while the complex as a whole houses eight movie theatres, a steakhouse called the Havana Grill which is frequented by sport teams visiting Durban, and a host of trendy bars and restaurants including the infamous Café Vacca Matta where you can party until the early morning.
Head back to Fanatics HQ for the panel which will feature all the hosts on Fanatics tours.
We are so close to the ground that we will be holding our pre-match function at Fanatics HQ - we’ll be inviting all the Cape Town passengers and hosts to join us as we crank out the tunes on the Kingsmead loud speakers. Then 2,000 Socceroo fans will walk on masse down to the stadium – how good is that going to look!
The match is on at 8:30pm so it’s going to be a big day – make sure you don’t run your race too early.
8:30pm: Australia v Germany - Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban
Overnight: Durban
Day 5 – Monday 14 June – Township tour
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
This morning we will be heading to the townships of Durban for a day with the locals.
We are planning a big afternoon including a match on the fields where Nelson Mandela cast his vote in the 1994 South African general election which marked the end of apartheid. We will need a Fanatics XI and we will post info on this in the Fanatics forums in the lead up to the event.
For those of us fortunate enough to live in relative luxury in Australia, today will be an eye opener. We recently toured the townships in preparation for your tour and we were emotionally touched.
We are sure this will be a highlight of your 2010 tour and we look forward to providing you with the experience.
Overnight: Durban
Day 6 – Tuesday 15 June – Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve and Durban Pub Crawl
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
Over the next 4 days (15, 16, 17, 18) we will be running tours to the magnificent Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. You will have the option to book your preferred day to travel when we get closer to the departure date.
The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve is the oldest game park in Africa and is home to the ‘big 5’: lion, African elephant, African buffalo, black rhinoceros and leopard, and is also the most likely place in the world to spot a cheetah. You will be guided through the rough terrain on a safari where you can see all the animals made famous through photographs right there in the flesh.
This evening we are planning a pub crawl from Fanatics HQ. Full details will be available on the evening.
Overnight: Durban
Day 7 – Wednesday 16 June – Optional Spain v Switzerland and Fatboy Slim
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
Today world number 1 Spain takes on Switzerland in Durban. Torres, Iniesta, Xavi and Villa will be coming to town and here is your chance to be a part of the action.
4:00pm: Spain v Switzerland - Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban
Late tonight we will be partying the night away with the world’s number one DJ, Fatboy Slim bangin’ out the tunes until the wee hours. Get set for the ride of your lives!
We are looking at an option here for an early morning departure this evening to Johannesburg for the Argentina v Korea match at Soccer City. This will be a transfer to and from the ground and return back to Durban at the end of the match to arrive back the morning of the 18th. More details will be available on the website in regards to this option.
Overnight: Durban
Day 8 – Thursday 17 June – Optional day tour to Zulu Battlefields
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
For the history buffs we suggest taking the optional tour to the Zulu Battlefields today.
The KwaZulu-Natal has a rich history and is the home of the largest group of Zulu people in South Africa. The Zulu Battlefields have been the site of some of the most brutal battles in history, and your guided tour will take you through the struggled the Zulu warriors faced throughout the 19th century.
This will be a fascinating walk through one of the bloodiest periods in African history, as you will discover the tactics and heroes that have graced this scared part of land.
Overnight: Durban
Day 9 – Friday 18 June – Optional uShaka Marine World and Shark Diving then Fanatics night at Durban Races
12:00 midday: Football panel previewing today’s matches.
Today is a free day so we’ll be offering a few optional tours. If sharks and dolphins are your thing, use the day to visit the uShaka Marine World. Boasting one of the biggest collections of sharks in the world, the aquarium is also known for offering snorkeling and a 1200 seater dolphin stadium.
If you want to continue partying beachside, make sure you pop into Joe Kools, a popular restaurant/bar/nightclub with spectacular views of the ocean.
There is an option to dive with the sharks at Ushaka but if you want to be serious then a trip to the Aliwal Shoal is the thing to do. The Shoal is the remains of an ancient sand dune, a rugged rocky reef with pinnacles, gullies, caves and swim-through. The Aliwal Shoal was named after the 3 masted-vessel the "Aliwal" which struck the Shoal and sunk in 1849 under the captaincy of James Anderson.
Forming part of a Marine Protected Area, the shoal lies approximately 5km offshore and is only accessible by boat. The reef is a fascinating site with an abundance of soft corals, sponges, and hiding places and plays host to more than 1200 species of tropical and subtropical fish, as well as turtles, rays, sharks and dolphins. Migrating humpback whales may also be encountered on your way to and from the dive site a t this time of the year.
Scuba diving with Tiger Sharks and occasional Hammerhead, Zambezi, Dusky and Black fin Sharks with no cages! This is without doubt the experience of a lifetime for qualified divers. They require proof of recognised dive qualification, proof of 20 logged dives and last dive within past 6 months, good buoyancy control. Unfortunately sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Durban is most famous for its sandy stretch of breathtaking beach called the Golden Mile which is less than 800 metres from the front door of Fanatics HQ. In the morning if you are looking for something to do to beat the nerves you could walk down the beach promenade to the top tourist destination in Durban.
Sunshine Casino and Entertainment World is so exclusive, it holds its own private beach.
