I know its a bit premature, but I'm really looking forward to this match.
Possible line-ups, predictions, discussion, etc..
Hope Gareth Bale starts

If Spurs can overcome the mental problem of not having won at Anfield in living memory (mid 80s anyway), I fancy them to get at least a point. Certainly they'll never have a better chance. Liverpool were rubbish at Pompey, didn't impress against Wolves and were then outplayed by Villa but got lucky.
We've got to keep any eye on Torres and Gerrard but not too concerned about the rest, and hopefully we'll have Ledley back and I fancy our front 4 to give your defence plenty to think about, even without Lennon.

Hopefully on matchday, Keano will be where his performances deserve. I hope all of them, minus Skrtel start as well. Although I think he will due to Johnsons absence.Nice One Cyril wrote: I hope Skrtel, Agger, Aurelio and Lucas start And our top scorer against Pool should be playing - Carragher

Love watching Crouch play, so I'm right up for this game. Can't wait!

Since when do we think we are invincible? I think you're mistaking that with on form...id much rather tottenham lose though as they think there like invincible
Shame this one got called off, that has its benefits for both clubs, Lennon will most likely be back for the replay but Liverpool will have Mascherano back and will have probably signed Rodriguez. I still think we could have taken them without Lennon, Kranjcar is doing a great job. This one could have easily gone either way.

Re: Liverpool vs Tottenham
I don't know why eveyone expects Maxi to be their saviour. Wasn't Aquilani the first Messiah? Fat lot of use he turned out to be.
Fact is, throughout the history of the EPL, very few European players have come in and made an immediate impact. The game is different in England and it takes them time to adjust their game. I very much doubt that Rodriguez will add too much in the rest of this season. Having said that, he could hardly be worse than that pseudo-Brazilian Lucas.

Re: Liverpool vs Tottenham
Aquilani has been written off waay too quickly by Liverpool supporters and most people in England, he is a qualiy player and needs more time to firstly overcome his injuries and get used to the speed of the premier league. As far as Maxi goes, he's struggling at Athletico and cant even gt a 1st time spot so who knows what he could do t Liverpool..

Re: Liverpool vs Tottenham
Please show me where any real (and not Madrid) supporter has written Aqualini off?
Liverpool's current (temporary) plight has nothing to do with the quality of the squad, those players are good enough, as they proved last season.

I dunno about the real ones, but certainly some on this forum and on other forums seem to think he's a waste of space. Even the english media have written him off and thats dissapointing, surely Rafa knew what he was getting into when he paid £20 million for a player with a well documented history of injuries especially when he bought him when he was injured aswell. In my mind it was a poor move by Rafa and their season has suffered because of it, surely they could have looked at signing a player that could come straight into the team instead of having to wait for months on end, especially in a position that is so critical to any team let alone Liverpool.

to be fair to rafa, aquilani was only meant to be out for a few weeks not a few months. can't really fault him there and the game was postponed due to the conditions on the outside of the pitch, not because the pitch is frozenSpursOnTheRise wrote:I dunno about the real ones, but certainly some on this forum and on other forums seem to think he's a waste of space. Nah, he was expected to be out for months, he had ankle surgery in May, you dont recover from that so easily.totsreds08 wrote:to be fair to rafa, aquilani was only meant to be out for a few weeks not a few months. can't really fault him there and the game was postponed due to the conditions on the outside of the pitch, not because the pitch is frozenSpursOnTheRise wrote:I dunno about the real ones, but certainly some on this forum and on other forums seem to think he's a waste of space. "Liverpool's new signing Alberto Aqulilani could be sidelined for the first two months of the new season despite passing a medical to seal his £20m switch from Roma to Anfield. The Italian international underwent ankle surgery in May and is only expected to be fit in the next "four to eight weeks".
Therefore bad move by Rafa, he cant say that the owners didnt give him money, he should have used that £20 more wisely and used it to buy more than one player to cover his ass, instead of blowing it all on an injured player...foolish.

i was just thinking then wouldnt 2 10 mil consistent performers be of much more use to liverpool than 1 guy who might not be great and injured half the season..

Arshavin is one of the few that have managed it better than most, although without Cesc by his side he hasn't been as impressive lately.

tbh he doesnt need to score much. hes great at providing opportunities, and with that you have gerrard, benayoun and torres to finish what he started. i rekon he should be pretty good there.arxidia wrote:maxi not a good signing tbh

What exactly did they prove last season e-football?e-football wrote:Liverpool's current (temporary) plight has nothing to do with the quality of the squad, those players are good enough, as they proved last season.
That they can be in the box seat and fail (again) to win the league?
That they can beat United Home and Away and it count for nothing?
That their players are not fit to wear the shirt?
That their players do not understand the "history and tradition" that should drive them on?
Please enlighten us e-football about what the "good enough" players proved last season...........

Re: Liverpool vs Tottenham
Neither side really impressed tbh. Kuyt's goal was fortunate in that Dawson slipped which allowed Kuyt to win the first header, then his tackle on Aquilani happened to go to Kuyt. Good finish though.Kunta Kintay wrote:Tottenham huffed and puffed but had little end product.

Game really hinged on a refereeing decision which for my money he got wrong. At 1-1 with 30 minutes left it's all to play for.
Always tough to get decisions at Anfield. Unless you're Liverpool of course.
