Biggest player loss from last season

Post by Giallorossi »

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on which player is the biggest loss from a squad from last season

i think cristiano ronaldo from man utd - as this year man utd have lost/drawn games compared to last when ronaldo saved their bacon and came up with goals over and over again

or maybe xabi alonso cos liverpool have lost quite a bit without him controlling the middle and making the passes
thoughts????

The Guardian did the analysis of Ronaldo's loss to Man utd - from my memory of it there was actually only a couple of games where he directly had an influence that saved their bacon, or pulled out match-saving performances. Of course, when you have a defence concentrating on a single player, it creates a few other gaps...

Xabi Alonso directed how Liverpool played, and there's been a big difference this year. Going from second to what, sixth, is a pretty big drop, so I'd nominate him. That and I'm wondering how Werder Bremen are going without Diego?

Xabi Alonso...Liverpool have not been able to replace him and his absence has been shown...not much creativity in the midfield without him, Lucas is nothing compared to him.

+1

Liverpool look lost in the mifield without him. He added the touch of class to go with Gerrad.

Tuncay leaving Boro has hurt us. So has losing Robert Huth :(

alonso- was a mature experienced player but wasn't a confidence player like lucas. he was amazing and lucas who can sometimes be good will drop his head if we are in trouble whereas alonso would find something extra to get us over the line. also alonso is top 3 of his position imo

alonso
we miss ronaldo ofcourse
but we r 2 points behind top spot, roughly where we were last seaosn without him

alonso is the biggest loss
gerrard n torres upfront were deadly, now gerrard has 2 go bak 2 mid 2 cover the loss of alonso
