Bit early to be predicting a league winner already dont you think? You wouldnt even be 100% on which players are there this season...

Are Brahma Lodge still seeking some clarity from the SAASL relating to the fact that they missed out on promotion by 1 goal and the Croatia v Macedonia Round 5 fixture which Macedonia won 1-0, lasted only 7 minutes before being called off..can anyone confirm ?

What do you expect the outcome to be? Replay the match? Not going to happen now...

SAASL are likely to side with the ref which leaves them with two options:
1. Let the result stand.
2. Penalise Croatia in the form of a forfeit - i.e. 2:0 result to Maco's, meaning they get promoted by two goals instead of one.

I assume from what you say that Croatia were responsible for the game being abandoned ?

The game was abandoned because the referee "feared for his safety" after allowing the Maco's goal to stand. One (or maybe more?) Croatia player got in his face a little bit and had a few 'choice' words to the ref, player gets sent off and keeps abusing the ref = game abandoned.
I haven't heard of any disciplinary actions by SAASL against Croatia.

The player should have been banned for 18 games and the club heavily fined. This sort of behaviour ruins the opportunities for the game in this country and puts some people off of the sport. Severely ban the player and the club and this sort of thing will either stop or clubs will go broke.

When the league offices open again for business Brahma will be asking some questions of the committee but the Maco Croatia game is done and dusted.
We will be ready to go next season whatever division we are playing in.
cant wait for the games to begin.

What should happen to the ref when blind Freddy can see he is cheating?

I didn't see the incident, nor am I into having a go at ref's, but my mail is the ref wasn't "intimidated" any more than what most refs cop every weekend from players who question ridiculous decisions. The player who copped the red is as fair as they come - passionate but fair, and wouldn't hurt a fly. The Maco players themselves thought the whole episode was ridiculous.

If the ref was intimidated by anyone, it was the pissed Aussie Rules players carrying on like pork chops at the ground.

Either case, poor form once again by SAASL - the match should have been replayed.

I agree being at the ground and looking on. The croatians were no more intimidating than the macos. The worse offenders were the pissed footy team on the side lines and also on the field ( naked) who would of changed the course of the game. If the game went on and Croatia had of won there would of been different type of trouble. 60 drunk footy players . macos lucky there .

Our oval is a footy club as well as a soccer club. The footy players would not have done anything except keep on drinking. They were enjoying their presentation and would not get involved in any trouble. It would have been a good game to play. The ref did over react, but nevertheless, you can not approach any referee in an aggressive manner on the park regardless of passionate you are about the game. As for the maco's being lucky, i doubt that very much. we were playing good consistent football in the lead up to the Croatia game and I believe we would have won that game if it went the full 90 mins. Good luck to all clubs in all divisions. I hope this season will be just as interesting as the last one.
