liverpool should be ashamed at themselves

Post by Hawkesy »

all 11 players surrounding the referee to ensure a wolves player is sent off. I despair at the modern game, I was always taught that you don't ask for a booking or a red card.

It sums up how far the game has changed and can only really blame the foreign influence.

hang your heads in shame sniverpool.

Foreign influence is the reason English teams compete in Europe.

How wrong you are, they were protecting the ref from an embarrassing situation and didn't want the wrong player booked, They all deserve honouring for sportsmanship.

It worked though. So long as players (from all teams) know they can influence the referees then they'll keep on doing it.

They were struggling to beat 11 so I don't think it's the end of Liverpool's woes by any means. A stay of execution for the Fat Waiter.

I agree but if you saw a team mate get walloped/punched in full view of an official and nothing got done (as I have witnessed in amateur league some years back), would you not at least remonstrate with said the official? That incident I refer to, the players that saw it actually didnt remonstrate, but retaliated with the offender later on and he ended up needing an emergency visit to the dentist. Funnily enough, the official saw the second incident and gave a red card and to this day, it is a perfect example why I say that not ALL refs are legitimate fair adjudicators. I believe this ref still runs around attempting to adjudicate games these days. OK, EPL is far too professional for this to occur in comparison, but just wanted to make a point.

Foreign influence is the reason English teams compete in Europe.
Because english teams never competed in europe before that?

Go through the records Scud I believe Liverpool, Villa, Forrest ect all won in europe before the invasion.

So no scud foreign influence isnt the reason english teams are dominating in europe as they were winning before.

amazng how they forget the English dominance in the late 70's/early 80's. If it wasn;t for UEFA getting scared of our dominance and banning us then we would have severely taken the piss. Wasn;t it something like 8 european cups in 9 years.

Back to the original incident, can't condone it at all. I think Mark Lawrencen on Match Of The Day summed it up best. The Liverpool captain quietly saying "are you sure you booked the right player ref" is one thing but to get the whole team surrounding him is very poor. Even Pepe Reina ran ¾ of the length of the field to get involved.

Thats right, before the 70's/80's it was one scottish team dominating in Europe, CELTIC.
Yes Hawkesy, Celtic was the 1st British club to win the European Cup,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Trouble is, Celtic have done nothing for 35 years or more.

Easy big fella, I remember when Liverpool, Forest and that other team won and won well, but even after English teams were allowed back in europe, it took nearly ten years to re-establish any influence.

Foreigners have certainly helped the EPL more they have hindered it, contrary to what the Millwall thug might think.

they have helped the standard but ruined the game.

The other team, is that man u or villa. Of course it took 10 years, players weren't used to playing a european style if we hadn't been banned I'm pretty sure our dominance would have continued but that's something we'll never know because UEFA got scared.

quarter finals or better, i don't see too many teams having this record
and i find it rich that you give celtic grief when millwall are so rubbish they are only known because of the noteriety of their fans, not because of winning trophies or playing good football, you can't even dominate league 1

How am i giving celtic grief by pointing out that you never dominated. It's a basic fact!

You have only made the semi's 4 times and you dominated

As for Millwall, well we do not dominate and never have but at least I am enough of a realist to not pretend they have.
