Mark Hughes
Rumours on Sky Sports this morning have suggested that Mark Hughes is going to be sacked regardless of todays result. Would be very interesting, i wonder who would replace him? Surley anyone out there could do a better job than him with the squad they currently have.
Currently 3-3 against Sunderland at home.....Not looking good!

Re: Mark Hughes
rafa>hughes. most people blame the coach in crisis times but rafa can't be blamed for most of our problems. okay some of the team selecion is his fault but what can he do? he can't buy more quality players because he has no cash to spend and the team is obviously lacking confidence which rafa can't do a whole lot about. we just need cash to strengthen our squad in january.Red-4-Life wrote:if Hughes got the sack...how the faark hasnt Rafa? :?

Re: Mark Hughes
What a load of cobblers. He's had the cash and spunked it on no-use wankers who can't play to his non-existent system, and now he wants more. If he didn't have Torres and Gerrard, Pool would be mid-table at best.totsreds08 wrote:rafa>hughes. most people blame the coach in crisis times but rafa can't be blamed for most of our problems. okay some of the team selecion is his fault but what can he do? he can't buy more quality players because he has no cash to spend and the team is obviously lacking confidence which rafa can't do a whole lot about. we just need cash to strengthen our squad in january.Red-4-Life wrote:if Hughes got the sack...how the faark hasnt Rafa? :?

Re: Mark Hughes
spend the cash , must get results.......but to be fair to sparky the least amount of losses in epl , 6th spot, most citeh fans would normally be happy with that but when you spend you must deliver..............at least mancini never played for the out of town reds welcome roberto

to be fair to rafa, the cash he spent on duds was only small amounts. the big cash he spent out were buying players who were really good/world classNice One Cyril wrote:What a load of cobblers. Apparently he was hitting the so called "targets" that were set for him, so i suppose that is pretty harsh. Think your doing ok but then your gone in an instant.

Re: Mark Hughes
Bit tough on Sparky especially as he had seemed to have more success than others in the role that weren't "from the out of town reds" - Alan Ball hardly set the world alight did he?
Having said that there is a higher expectation to deliver when you have spent all that cash very publicly and I reckon the beginning of his downfall was the very public chasing of Lescott only for him to come to City and really not prove to be much of a great success. I always liked Sparky and believe him to be an honourable man, certainly some of the stories I have heard would back this up, he'll be back somewhere and do very well, I hope so anyway.

£20 million for Aquilani says otherwise.totsreds08 wrote:to be fair to rafa, the cash he spent on duds was only small amounts. the big cash he spent out were buying players who were really good/world class
As for City, apparently Mancini isn't much different, and is reportedly aiming to bid for some of Europe's best players (Torres, Henry, Aguero, Ribery, Mascherano, et al), and plans on dropping some of the recently-signed players, like Kolo Toure (who's not happy with the way Hughes was sacked).

Re: Mark Hughes
Comment by Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp said the trend of ultra-rich overseas owners taking over at English clubs meant that the shelf life of most Premier League managers was destined to become shorter and shorter.
"It's different now. You've got multi-millionaire owners who all want to be number one, and they're not going to understand that they can't all win," he said.
"In their life, they've made so much money and they do what they want because they're so rich.
"The more that come in, the more you are going to see managers come and go. The merry-go-round will be even worse because they're all disappointed they're not top of the league. They won't understand it."
IMO he's spot on. They all want to be number one but obviously that's not possible. "Not possible" are two words exceptionally rich men don't understand (along with my wife).

Re: Mark Hughes
Ibrahimovic & Kaka were twelve classes above everyone else. That's why the two best teams in the world bought them. Serie A won't have a Ballon D'or contender for another 10 years now.

Gone are the days now where a manager was a revered figure, the one doing the hiring and firing. Now they're the most dispensable people in football.

Re: Mark Hughes
A little respect for Rafa please, the man delivered a UEFA Champions League and FA Cup title, the only thing he has failed at is the Barclays Premier League title, and he was also the manager that took Valencia to a Spanish League title breaking the hegemony of the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. He is definately a top quality manager who has proven his ability across different leagues and different types of competition. Rafa should definately stay, even if this season is a bit of a throw away in terms of the league, you still have the ability to win a trophy or 2.
In terms of Mark Hughes, really don't understand the sacking, Manchester City were going through a little bit of a rough patch with 7 or 8 consecutive draws or whatever it was, but surely he isn't expected to crack the top 4 within 1 season no matter what players you've bought, you still have to gel all the signings into a team and construct a brand of football that will work for that particular team, this takes time. Look at Barca 2 seasons ago...0 trophies and then the very next they won the treble...good football takes time.

the managers of these super rich clubs are just puppets, they are never in complete control. even mourinho wasnt happy at chelsea after guiding them to the league title
