Olympiakos 1-0 only because they have to win and Arsenal couldnt seem to give a rats.....

Where did you get that info from Kop??? A win by AZ Alkmaar over Standard Liege or even a draw in that match and we are through regardless of our result buddyThe Kop wrote:Tom Cruise at the back for Arsenal?????

Re: Olympiacos v Arsenal
They are through to the next stage and players like Fabregas and Van Persie will miss out the opening game of the knockout stages if they are booked in this fixture so its got more to do with looking towards their next game rather than not taking the game seriously. If they werent taking it seriously they wouldnt be worried about Van Persie and Fabregas getting booked But yes, its not a team your likely to see to many times this Arsenal season and we aint complaining let me tell youruud wrote:arsenal obviously taking this game seriously with that squad....A-Mac wrote:Arsenal squad for match.

Re: Olympiacos v Arsenal
Also dont know where A-Mac got the Arseanl squad for the game since the final squads havent been released as yet but the Team News i have came from the UEFA.com website:
Team news
Olympiacos
Out: Matt Derbyshire (groin), Andreas Vasilogiannis (cruciate ligaments), Diogo (ankle), Vassilis Torosidis (swine flu), Cristian Ledesma (knee), Ieroklis Stoltidis (chest), Michał Żewłakow (groin)
Doubtful: Jaouad Zairi (thigh)
Suspended: none
Misses next match if booked: Raúl Bravo, Dudu
Arsenal
Out: Tomáš Rosický, Nicklas Bendtner (both groin), Johan Djourou (knee), Robin van Persie (ankle ligaments), Gaël Clichy (back), Abou Diaby (calf), Kieran Gibbs (broken metatarsal), Eduardo (thigh)
Doubtful: William Gallas, Armand Traoré (both hamstring), Emmanuel Eboué (not specified), Andrei Arshavin (ankle)
Suspended: none
Misses next match if booked: Gaël Clichy, Cesc Fábregas, Robin van Persie
Seems we have just as many key players out as them which will hurt us alot more than it hurts them but the result in the other game will probably decide the group anyways id say. Nil all draw at the Karaiskaki

arsenal will win. bout 2-0. vela with both. the kids will wanna run riot regardless of the signifigance of the game.
Re: Olympiacos v Arsenal
Infact the other game has no significance if you draw.COLOSSUS wrote:Where did you get that info from Kop??? A win by AZ Alkmaar over Standard Liege or even a draw in that match and we are through regardless of our result buddyThe Kop wrote:Tom Cruise at the back for Arsenal?????

However, you will know, if you play for a draw you may as well be accepting defeat and are prone to coping a poutsa.
So even though they only need a point, I think they'll go out looking for a win.

Good luck Olympiakos... greece needs some points. sick of our league looking like a joke even though we have some strong clubs and many big names. compared to scotland and romania anyway.

love watching the kids play.
even though this game isnt important i think it is towards some of the players forms.
especially vela and a couple others need to have a bit of form as they get called upon in first team games.

Re: Olympiacos v Arsenal
not a bad effort at all by our young guns.
pretty much controlled them all over the park and arguably should of taken more from the match but it didnt matter.
only thing lacking tonight was our finishing vela and walcott struggled but other than that pretty impressive away in the cl to a decent side.

Re: Olympiacos v Arsenal
Good result even if it were a 2nd rate Arsenal team, gee they have some good youngsters coming through the ranks. Im actually surprised we got anything from this game considering we have had our worst injury list in 20 years. I honestly thought wed be lucky to finish with any points let alone qualify for the 2nd round after the amount of injuries we copped from thereafter we played Arsenal the 1st time around. Welldone to Zico, he has turned this outfit into a more attacking unit and they are now good to look at. We dont sit back in the typical Greek style of play and we actually go for it which is refreshing. It will cost us against better teams but at least we have a crack and at least our opponents know that we have the capabilities of scoring. 1 nil v Arsenal is fantastic and we'll take it, you can only play the team the opposition coach puts out on the park. Bring on the knockout stages
