DOWNS Coaches 2010

Post by Rexie »

It is with great pleaseure that I would like to announce that former Championship Captain- Tony Reeves will be coaching the Downs first team for 2010. We are very pleased with the announcement and look forward to see what Tonys experience and knowledge will bring to the club.

Also glad to appoint Lenny Vella as the Reserves coach for 2010. He will take the reins of a very successful team, and with his past coaching experience we hope this will continue. He will also work closely with head coach Tony in ensureing the development of the furture players of the club.

Training will start early in the new year, dates yet to de confirmed, but all players are welcome to come out. We wil post dates in the new year.
I think my drinking club has a soccer problem.....

Congrats to Tony and Lenny on there appointments. So where does this leave Bert? Playing still...Going to Salisbury? And also what about Andy Dreyer just having a year off?

yep same guy has to be - he is a Celtic supporter and I do believe he has been with inter in recent years so it has to be the same guy. Was also involved with the Broadies many years ago also

I might just catch a Downs ressie game to catch up with him

Yeah, he started last season with The Beach ressies but things didn't work out for him. Best of luck to him for next season with the Downs.

Bit of motivation for us when we play ED :D

in regards to the quote me being given first option as senior coach that's completely wrong i was told my services would not be required for next season by the chairman the only excuse was the executive committee didn't want me, i still don't completely understand why? :?

In regards to this quote, im not sure why the last chairman would say that to you bert seeing as he wasnt continuing on wiht the job. However if is was said it should not have been. However you were never not wanted by the executive committee, you were just asked to re-aply again. As is the case every year with the coaches. We thought you didnt want the job.

Best of luck though where ever you end up. Youd be the fittest bloke out at Salisbury at the moment doing that run. haha.

I am guessing Reeves is a man of leisure these days and has plenty of time for Football.

Coach of the Downs Senior team.
Named as a Joint Coach of the U/16's at Modbury ( according to their website ).
Was seen at Salisbury's training on Thursday Night.

No bad "Big Fella"

Joint Coach Modbury Under 16's: YES (With Shane Ferdinand Senior Coach of Eliz Grove)
Was seen at Salisburys Training Thursday: YES and NO. Tony (and Shane) and the Modbury Under 16's were at Carisbrooke Park (Where Salisbury were running, running, running) as part of there pre season.

Spoke to the big fella last night at the Might Downs u11 netball training and he is pumped for the job ahead he has got the full support of the most important people in all of this the family and he is itching to go. As for Lenny I reckon I slurred him a couple of time when he was at inter and it will be good getting to know and bagging him at presso night.
I agree with kenny there bert it would be great to see you playing in the downs colors again next year....Dont you just love the off season, play the season all year round come on fellas....How much boring cricket can a man try and watch
There is no I in team, but there is a u in suck...

that is quite staggering from a communication point of view between a committee and its head coach that has just guided the club to runners up in the league / cup and ressies?? suggests more to it than that statement surely.
