Kyrgiakos did indeed..I was extremely pissed off when Agger went off, but credit to Krygiakos, he was very good back there, despite being turned by Wright Phillips for their second goal.

Skrtel went from hero to zero in that game today
Puts us ahead with his first ever Liverpool goal, loses Adebayor for the equaliser and is no mans land for City's second. Scores one, but is at fault for both of theirs..

still think hes shit :P
i though Benayoun as always had an impact tonight and Skrtel was good too. Kyrgiakos i thought had a solid game in defence. having to make 2 very early subs i think hurt liverpool as well

Oh great another onethat uses Lucas as a scapegoat whenever things go wrong..
Lucas has been one of our most consistent performers this season. And he wasn't bad against City either. Granted he should have scored that header at the end, but these things happen. I'm not a huge fan of Lucas myself, but I call it as it is, and Lucas has been one of our better players this season.

Don't know about great, but he's certainly a shitload better than most 'supporters' give him credit for.

How so? Yes he scored, but he immediately followed that up by being at fault for both of City's goals..
The first he let Adebayor get away from him for a free header..
The second he was in no mans land while Ireland was free in the centre..Yes this could also be attributed to Mascherano/Lucas not tracking back, but Skrtel lost the ball in the first place and then ball watched from that point onwards until the ball ended up in the net..

And in general, Kuyts form has been atrocious recently..he needs to be dropped or 'given a rest' if you want to put it nicely..

Likewise, think he's gonna be a great player for us. It will be interesting to see when he gets handed his first start..Seeing as he didnt get a run tonight, I doubt he'll start on Tuesday, though he could be a possibility for next weekend.

i agree with Kuyt.

Skrtel was alright i mean up until he screwed up in defence. I thought besides that he wasnt too bad. Given's save in the first half was great as well. Gerrard was quiet and N'gog did sweet F.A., Babel should have played through pain, we are missing Torres' presence, skill and finishing ablilities and so on. still have Johnson to come back as well as well as Aquilani to return to full fitness

Nah I thought he was rubbish.
Too far behind the attacking midfield trio.

Had his hands in maschs pockets all game, masch is that deep bcos thats his role to be the ball winning achorman. Lucas needs to provide more support when we're in possession and linkup play. One of the reasons why Gerrard couldnt get into the game 2nite was he had no one backing him up in possession most times.

But I wont fully throw the boot at him, because we'll never know if thats his instinct to be so deep or Rafa's instructions.
Either way, like the commentary (or Slater/Bosnich/Moustache guy cant remember) eluded to.....its disgusting to be so negatively structured at Anfield.....

I rkn he was good for at least a half tonight, he spent a lot of time warming up.
But Rafa's hands were tied with the injuries and Benayoun clearly no where near 100% fitness.

Damn shame, cos when the game was opening up in the 2nd half he could have made the difference...... :(

I thought Kyrgiakos played very very well yesterday, Skrtl did okay not too bad but I can't workout how Adebayors goal no one was on the back stick.

Admittedly he didn't get into the game as much as he has in recent weeks, but he was rly isolated up top. Whenever the ball got up to him there was only one player even close to him..and as that player was Gerrard he was being marked by like two guys at a time
I think he did what he could up top..He won the freekick which lead to our first goal, and his deflected shot gave Benayoun a tap in..so whilst he may not have been involved as much as he/we would have liked, he certainly played his part in that tie.

Yeah thats exactly it..I've heard so many supporters going off about Rafa not bringing on Aquilani, but with only one substitution left, Benayoun clearly struggling and the game being so close, bringing on Aurelio was the right move IMO. Aurelio is a player who can do a job defensively, is tidy in possession and can provide some killer set peices and crosses. He was the best player to bring on in that situation.
