i just watched this on setanta, good old setanta replaying games 5 times over, anyway you can clearly see he raises his hand to stop it going out, then taps it infront of him to be able to poke it to gallas, squilacci is offside but is not active so that is not an issue, however, this is where i really get annoyed, collosus says henry tells the ref? when does he does this as he does a run behind the goal then runs to gallas while the irish are around the inept ref and linesman... it is deliberate handbal and cheating no two ways about it... the whole ref team should not go near an international for at least a year after this... i see fifa turned down the fai's request of a replay, on the grounds that the laws of the game state the referees descision on the pitch is final, no matter how bad it is, but then how does this explain the eduardo situation or the recinding of red cards?
technology may have stopped this goal, but wouldn't it be up to the ref to refer it for review, so not sure that is the answer here either...

too many ref's get caught up in the moment of the game and lose sight of the fact that they are they to do a job. It's a world cup playoff in extra time, all the excitement etc prob got the better of them. No excuse for the oversights that led to the goal, joke that they missed it.
