Thankyou! We got up (just like parents and players) at the crack of dawn to come and officiate games without pay but for our own good so we can develop into better referees for the future of the FFSA. We had coaches who were there giving feedback to us with what to improve and we took it on board. Also, most of these referees also took part in the Country Champs in September at Port Lincoln so they are the best young bunch out there at the moment who ALL have potential!rossie wrote:The referees were an academy group ranging from 15 years old to 25 years old. They were not paid to be there. They were there to develop their skills and be assessed by mentors who were on each pitch. If you read the programme it does say that players, coaches and referees are all part of the program for path ways in the sport in different areas.
I thought the refs did an ok job better then some if these 50 yo normally out there just for the money.
Hopefully the referees leary more about the game and their roles and this event aided their development similar to players and coaches.

without us referees there would be no games...think about it before you speak whoever wants to abuse us. we try our hardest as well coz theres a future for us in refereeing just like with all the players and their playing future!

But if that is the case, then Ref's too are open to criticism - just like Players and Coaches. I'm not saying open abuse, though (for the record).

and fair enough because our coaches do give us tips on how we can improve and we take it on the chin, thats how we learn. but when it comes to out of control parents and coaches thats not needed in junior sport

I'm not into abusing refs but there are plenty of games in the JPL lower divisions/ age groups that don't have an "official" ref and just about every amateur b & c grade game has a stand in'swithout us referees there would be no games...think about it before you speak whoever wants to abuse us
Keep up the great work lads

Re: ffsa & state id champs = BS
Official referees are only appointed to u/12 and up. Priority is given to older age groups and higher divisions when appointments are made. Some weeks some refs are unavailable thats why some games arent covered but generally its fine so for the ones who do show up deserve some credit. In NSW their JPL games dont start unless they have 2 official linesman, would you like that to happen here? I think its proof that without us officials, no games!
Re: ffsa & state id champs = BS
Level 4 competency should be applied as a minimum prerequisite to ref these games. Some of those kids were whistling their first game that weekend, and it clearly showed.

red 4 life, Im not having a go you refs mate you do a great job (my lad is in the process of becoming one) , but please dont make statements that are silly. Plenty of games go on without refs (in age groups over under 12's & in A division) fact of football mate, Proof is a funny thing. ![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)

Re: ffsa & state id champs = BS
i was more so referring to the statement i made about NSW then. that it can happen but yes in most cases parents are used if need be.
on the weekend of state talent, every ref has at least been on the system since the beginning of this season, and a majority of them were also at Port Lincoln in September for he Country Champs, so no, none of them had blown a whistle for the first time. At the time i was a level 5 but during the season have received positive feedback from coaches who are in the w-league panel and even a-league with a FIFA badge. But now i am a level 4 heading into the new year. These refs are in fact the best bunch of young referees out there who the FFSA are trying to develop into better referees to benefit for the future of football in SA. And im not saying we dont make mistakes, we all have as a ref and a player, its unavoidable. we do try our best and thats all we want the players, parents and coaches to understand.

Credit where credit is due. That was much better put than any of your earlier posts, imo.Red-4-Life wrote:i was more so referring to the statement i made about NSW then. that it can happen but yes in most cases parents are used if need be.

cheers.
I had time to think about what to write so it would make more sence. Hopefully thats cleared anything up about us refs at STIC that anyone was unsure about.

If I could figure out the bad grammar (with double negatives, and past tense) I think I would say that you are incorrect.Red-4-Life wrote: so no, none of them had blown a whistle for the first time.
