Although it can be influenced by a club having two teams playing in the same age group.Zeljko Jurin wrote:u13-u17, top 2 go up, and top 2 go downJock wrote:Can someone tell me how the promotion and relegation system works in the JPL?

Thanks for that.
In the situation where a club wants to enter a second team into the same age group does the second team go into the C's?

So, for example Salisbury and Campbelltown finished last and second to last respectively in the U16A's, do they get relegated to U16B or U17B the following year?

Unless of course you are an ethnic club with lots of money and influence.
In this case, it doesn't seem to matter where you finish.

Bit of a rough call. Perhaps you should be more specific? The Boss wrote:Unless of course you are an ethnic club with lots of money and influence.

What happens to the U17's? How do they get promoted for finishing top or second...where to they go?

Absolutely zippo happens. That's the end of Junior football which is why a lot of kids try to avoid 17s and jump straight to 19s. Most of them aren't really ready for it but hey ho, parents know best!Jock wrote:What happens to the U17's? How do they get promoted for finishing top or second...where to they go?

Making the assumption that only the best of the U17's go onto play U19's (with the exception of those closely related to club officials) its a shame that those playing in the B's and C's are lost to the game at this level.

A lot of them probably go and play true amateurs somewhere and certainly some come back within a couple of years when they've matured a bit.
Not everyone can be a pro or semi pro but I guess if you love the game for itself, you'll play at whatever level suits your game at the time.

A Super League side may have its U17 playing Cs (Raiders) so there are still opportunities for those 17Cs that are capable of playing 19s to get a gig.Jock wrote:Making the assumption that only the best of the U17's go onto play U19's (with the exception of those closely related to club officials) its a shame that those playing in the B's and C's are lost to the game at this level.

16C's finished 2nd this year, hence 17's next year are 17B'sStitch This wrote:I'm confused - you were only 4th in the C's this year?Zeljko Jurin wrote:Sorry, we're 17B next yearStitch This wrote: A Super League side may have its U17 playing Cs (Raiders) so there are still opportunities for those 17Cs that are capable of playing 19s to get a gig.

Hmm... Based on them playing in the 17Cs and only coming 4th you'd have to think that not too many of them will be ready to play Super League U19s next year.Stitch This wrote:A Super League side may have its U17 playing Cs (Raiders) so there are still opportunities for those 17Cs that are capable of playing 19s to get a gig.Jock wrote:Making the assumption that only the best of the U17's go onto play U19's (with the exception of those closely related to club officials) its a shame that those playing in the B's and C's are lost to the game at this level.
