SOCCER MUM
It is going to cost you $400 to play for Adelaide city.
plus playing kit.

this is what is on the web site.

·
Player kit (compulsory purchase for 2007 season for all players)

1 x shorts

1 x playing top with players name and number

1 x training/alternate top with players name and number

2 x socks

1 x training ball

(Approximate cost $180)

· Track suit (compulsory for all NEW players to the club and others requiring replacement)

1 x track top

1 x track bottom

(Approximate cost $140)
so if you plus all the cost it is $720 for a new play to play for Adelaide City.
Curriculum Based Player Development and Training
Under 11 to Under 13 Technical Program

Additional training will be available pre-season and during the year for players wishing to improve their technical skills. This program will concentrate on skills only and is not intended to be team based.
all this is on the web site. It looks good.

what else does Adelaide city have to offer for that sort of money when listed in this forum.

Ron7 said para hill aprox $270.00

rossonero said Enfield city $270.00

I also beleive Modbury Jets is around $430.00 a bit dearer than the other to but not as dear as Adelaide city just curious to why that is.

Cheers

I guess it is like any business; why does one place charge $100 for an air conditioner service and the other $150? Why does that restaurant charge $7.50 for a bowl of pasta and the other $12?

My personal opinion; higher fees should guarantee a better coach via club coaching for the team coach, ie. the coach should be receiving, or actively gaining, extra training &/or qualifications (but high fees are no guarantee). Coaches may have training sessions with senior coaches/trainers.
A trainer is involved to assist the coach in helping players maintain a high level of fitness and other skills, such as; the correct way to run, sprinting from a standing start position, etc. The trainer should accompany the coach to the coaches training.
A manager that receives direction, motivation & help from club officials.
All neccessery training equipment is supplied to the team; this is a lot more than just cones, bibs and balls.

Then there is the bits that don't really matter but cost; individual balls, name on back of tops, track suit, bag, etc.

If you want the best for your son, go visit a few training sessions, ask parents already there, try and find out what is important to the team; winning or development. In junior development winnig isn't important, it's all about developing the skills, as you go higher up the age group it becomes harder, a coach must juggle between teaching/coaching the players and winning the games.
There's no point being on a team where the coach is a great teacher but can't win a game, the kids lose motivation and end up learning nothing.
Then again, there's no point being on a team where the coach only cares about winning at all cost, as only a few kids get any benefit and the rest lose motivation and fade away.

It's a tough call, maybe you should choose a good team with an average cost and spend the savings on a Football Clinic.

I'm lucky, I've got a few more years to research and decide.

Junior Fees

Post by Modgirl »

$400-$600 justifiable, strips, equipment, insurance, affiliation fees, club membership, all other associated running costs and child minding??? Break up the fee into an hourly rate for training (and staying fit), Most clubs keep fees to a minimum but general running costs are getting steeper each year, they money has to raised.

beware, what they advertise isn't always what's delivered. Anyways, the kids are usually happy to make it in a team (any team), unless they believe they are stars and should be in higher grades. Then it gets difficult to get what you or the kid wants. So, even with lotsa resarch you may not have the option with many clubs. At the end of the day (or season) 600 bucks is reasonable value for havin a coach put up with crap all year :)

Good Luck!

well said all,

look i have heard about Adelaide City fees and to be honest i have seen them on a few occaisions all dressed alike, they look like a team and most importantly play like a team. They should be proud. Don't have to win anything to prove it.

Downfall is that if parents cannot afford to pay that much then they may have to miss out. Johnny Dep and Drusetta are right. well done.

Soccer mum is also right, when being honest and constructive the forum posts are good, have a run back through some other topics and see how the first and last post has 'drifted' away from the point. :D
