Closest teams to the Yorke Peninsula?

Post by Flud »

Hi all,

Wondering if someone can tell me where I might find a team to play next year. Played Sat Div 4 this year for Murray Bridge (A and B Grade) but i am moving to Kadina in a week or so and would be interested in playing maybe sunday mornings for either an over 35 team or a amateur side with a B,C or D grade. I really dont care what standard and might struggle to train midweek so would be just happy getting a kick somewhere..

I am thinking Port Pirie might be the closest option but no idea what teams are there. Is it only in Adelaide that I will find an over 35 league?

Any advice would be appreciated, other than telling me don't move to Kadina of course!

Oh and please don't tell the wife, I convinced her I was retiring as it was the only way to to get her to move house!!

Pt Pirie is still miles closer than those two to Yorke Peninsula.
I would say they will in either the amateur league next year or their districts league with plenty of players too.

if you are that keen maybe you should try and start up a team from the york peninsula, surely there would be enough interest and it would be a great away weekend for teams travelling from adelaide

I could look into starting a team but doing that as well as going through the messy divorce which would surely follow might be a little much to handle at one time!

Appreciate the responses guys, will see how I go...

The Northern Demons based in Pirie have a young lad from Kadina playing in their under 19s side which won the state league title this year. A very talented and committed lad who travels to training every week, you might be able to arrange something with this lad.I think his surname name is Warren.

Yeh I would say pirie would definately be the closest. The Demons had a strong combination last year. So if you played amateurs you would probably be better going to pirie city. Not sure whats going on with them next year though. I know they're not in State league but havent heard anything else. Maybe playing in the country?

There have been a few raised eyebrows when I ask the question locally about a team but that said I have located a greek fella who used to play in Adelaide and there will be an indoor comp locally..

Might look into the Pirie idea.. Although I was hoping for a C grade team full of fat old fella's like me so I hope it's not all 18 yr old's playing Federation standard!
