Thoughts about the league structure?
Afer the last delegates meeting a couple of us were talking about how the league could be changed in a way to improve along the lines what teh FFSA would like as most teasm don't seem to like the 'div 2' set up compared to the reserves?
In my opinion here is a formular that may work?
The divisions could be made up like the following;
Premier league with a reserve league. Prems and division one teams kick off at 3.00pm
Division one league with a reserve league. Reserve grades all kick off at 1.00pm
Division two
Division three
Division four. Keep going as many leageus as you need after this.
The prems league and division one leagues have reserve sides, if a team is promoted and or relegated from prems to division one then the reserve side follows t othe same division, exactly the same as the men.
To move from division two up you have to have two senior sides.
To move up or down between division two, three or four you only need one side.
The FFSA could look at teams coming up from division two must have at least one junior team maybe two as well as two senior teams. This way the league knows that the club has growth and also players to fall back on if number problems.
This would surely assist clubs, as at the moment no club in real terms are going to move from division three to division one with the current league set up because if all prems reserves teams are in division two, which most ar, then this means the teams coming up from division three would have to be so much stronger to beat such quality teams. which is a near impossible task. Look at the ladder, currently in division two bottom two teams were division two teams from the preivous year where the rest were reserves teams.
This in my opinion, it my help FFSA get some structure for the leagues and keep a lid on teams coming and going from the competition.
Just an opinion!

Re: Thoughts about the league structure?
Good work and some thought provoking suggestions AP and delagates.
Will it work and will it contribute to "kick starting" the comp once again? For mine, these are my thoughts.
1) Your suggestions re: Prems and Reserves timing of games
2) The W-League Lady Reds needs to have far better coverage than it did last year. Media coverage needs to be better so the profile of the comp can increase.
These steps will contribute to the women's comp once again getting the kudos it desrves. Its been dying a slow death the last 3-5 years

Hey AP, I like it!
It makes perfect sense
In that case it has probably no chance of being adopted then!

Well done adelaidepie. If there are delegates reading this, then let's make sure the suggestions that were submitted are brought up for discussion, because they seem to make a great deal of sense.

a simple system that will work easy and makes perfect sense.

Re: Thoughts about the league structure?
Recieved the fee structure for 2010 yesterday, thought this was interesting to have it distributed already (though maybe that is standard for FFSA?) thuught maybe it was to stop some clubs discussing a move to a SASSL womens league again?
As one of the main reasons for the want to move to a different league is pricing, and from what I could read (which may be wrong! ) is that the registration fee for the lower div's is dropping next year??

Re: Thoughts about the league structure?
nice work adelaidepie
although i still see a problem with division one teams being promoted to prems.
there's still no way a div one team will be competitive in prems. imo

Clubs who are already there shouldn't have a divine right to stay there either.ecky_8 wrote:nice work adelaidepie

Re: Thoughts about the league structure?
I think this is the part where it comes back to the top div 1 teams, and the bottom prems teams having a match before the season begins, to allow FFSA/SAWSA to decide where each team should be placed.
give a team a break!
