Diego is only set to be sidelined for 15 days – but Juventus are still likely to be without him for a minimum of four games.
The summer signing from Werder Bremen picked up a thigh problem in the first half of the club’s 2-0 win at Lazio on Saturday.
The £21.5m capture has since then undergone a series of tests which have ruled out a significant problem, but the setback will keep him out of action for two weeks.
As a consequence the Brazilian will miss Tuesday’s Champions League game against Bordeaux and Serie A encounters versus Livorno, Genoa and Bologna.
At this stage, the South American has been pencilled in to return in Europe against Bayern Munich on September 30 or domestically in the Week 7 trip to Palermo four days later.
Diego suffered a similar muscle problem during pre-season which restricted him to just a few warm up games.
Diego, with two goals in two League games, is set to be replaced by the young Sebastian Giovinco as the ‘1’ in Juve’s new 4-3-1-2 system.

Re: Diego out for 2 weeks
There is good news for Juventus fans after it was announced that Diego will only be sidelined for seven days – rather than the 15 originally predicted.
The Brazilian limped out of the club’s 2-0 win at Lazio on Sunday with injury and it was feared that he would miss four games.
However, the Turin giants have this afternoon released a statement which has eased anxiety amongst the Bianconeri faithful.
“This morning Diego underwent magnetic resonance tests under Professor Faletti at the CTO of Turin,” read an official note.
“The tests did not show any muscular lesion to the right thigh but a simple semi-membranous muscle strain which entails seven days of recovery time.”
