Re: 13/9 results
A.City won
Metro lost (again?)
C'Town lost
P.Hills lost
So it should be:
A.City: league winners with 12 point advantage (I'm pretty sure).
Metro: lost the plot in the last month or so.
Olympic: third very close to Metro. Great result IMO.
Fulham, Cumby and Sturt all more or less together
C'town: save at last. Congratulations.
P. Hills: relegated, good luck next year.
How was the Metro game? Did Sturt have a full team or what happened? Did Metro have many injuries? Maybe they were resting many players for the final...?

Re: 13/9 results
Olympic started so well but somehow fell short.
IMO it was a very haphazzard year. Results were all over the place and those was reflected where teams finsihed on the ladder. Congrats to City.
Well done to all the players, coaches, officials and everyone whom came out to support the teams. Hopefully 2010 will be the year that kick starts the women's comp on to bigger and better things.

Re: 13/9 results
I think the league was pretty good this year.
The fact that many results were surprising means that there was more balance and that the league was more exciting. Until a couple of weeks ago AC and Metro were both running for the title and the other teams always gave everyone a good run for their money. Sturt and Cumby were inconsistent but still pretty good teams IMO, Fulham finished very well and Olympic yeah were strong all season. Also C'town and PH had their good moments. I feel sad for PH being relegated but I guess that's football.
Strange to see Metro not winning though after their start and seeing their players...but there's nothing to say with City winning the league, they totally deserved it. Until Metro lost with Olympic and Sturt they were also the only team that was able to beat Metro.
Now let's hope A. United can have a good year too.

Re: 13/9 results
from what i heard metro rested 10 of their players!!
played with a few under 15's...
so yeah, not taking the win away from sturt coz it was an excellent result for them but metro rested most of the team

Re: 13/9 results
They've just rested their team so that they are fresh for the final.
Metro has to win, otherwise their season becomes a big disappointment.
They are also cup holders, so this time they have to deliver.

Re: 13/9 results
isnt that interesting no pressure on city to win the double even tho they have been the best team all year??

Re: 13/9 results
perhaps that just cuz its expected they're gonna win.
and if for some unforeseen reason they dont, then people will start asking "what happened?" "who were they missing?" etc etc.

Re: 13/9 results
It's not about pressure on Metro or City.
Being a final, pressure is on both.
What I meant is that AC already won the league (against Metro being hot favs at the start), therefore their season is already a success.
Metro finished 12 points behind...so if they don't deliver in the final, well, you tell me I guess.

Re: 13/9 results
I'm happy for PH! I think they are probably better than any other D1 team.
But what happens with D1? Is anyone joining the prems or it's all a big joke?

Re: 13/9 results
With all respect to Para Hill and Gawler there is a question here which needs to be answered.
At the start of each season there is an understanding bottom team relegated from Prems top team promoted, correct? So why can the top team say no to promotion or why has the bottom team been allowed to stay up?
If this is correct and I believe it is then this makes a mockery of the whole, lets improve the league situation. Surely any team playing in Prems and Div 1 are there because they want to play at the highest level. How can a team decide that they don't want to go up?
The situation should be addressed.
I say this in regards to information being alleged. I have no beef with Para or Gawler but this does make a mockery of teams pushing for promotion. Teams are in the league knowing that promotion / relegation are a fact of life.
In the lower divisions 4 or 5 you can have in place an agreement for this to happen (no promotion / relegation if need be) but not the top two tiers of the league. In affect the clubs should not have the ability to make this decision there would have both been aware of the consequences of finishing top or bottom therefore the process should take place.
As said the FFSA are trying to improve the completion and yet here is a situation where the process and leagues ultimate decision is not being adhered to. I really can not understand why the FFSA would allow this to happen. Maybe clubs need to express what their intentions are at the start of the season and then the FFSA make soem rulings, therefore teams are ware that, 1 they may not be a relagation or promotion if teams A, B or C finishin in certain positions?
This is my opinions only but I feel this takes away from what the FFSA are promoting with the women's league.

Re: 13/9 results
Everyone seems to be proceeding on the assumption that the standard of play bewteen Prems and Div I, at the bottom of Prems and top of Div I is of similar quality and that the top div I team could go up to Prems and hold their own, and the bottom Prem team could drop and have challenging games in Div I. Is that the case?

Re: 13/9 results
I certainly am not trying to say that, however if the process is one up one down then that is what should happen. No different to teams being promoted into the EPL Most will struggle and most have to recruite, ditto here. Div 1 teams need to recruite and normally have two seasons up, (Except toros) which most need.
My comment is more about the fact that this is a known fact and yet no change is taking place, so when does a one up one down actually happen? Flinders were not promoted last year when they have an argument for not being promoted. Toros were supposed t ohave two seasons and didn't receive it and here is para suposedly swapping with Gawler adn it appears again this is not going to happen.
So how do teams recruite in div 1 if they are not assured of promotion if they win and also why should para recruite if they have no fear of being relegated?
PS I know Para would keep trying to improve and so my quote above is a comment not a fact.
Just doesn't make sense, I feel we are running a little of cart before the horse? EG is the club dictating whether they shold go up or not?

You make some strong points, adelaidepie- my question was directed more at the whole thread, rather than your comment specifically.
