Raptors safe, Munno Para down.... or are they??

Post by andyb »

ISC RAPTORS 18 5 3 10 29 47 -18 18
MUNNO PARA 18 3 6 9 24 38 -14 15
SAN MARCO 18 4 3 11 14 38 -24 15

will Munno Para dispute the decision by SAASL not to deduct 3 points from Raptors for playing an 'ineligible' player against Southern Knights during the season? If such a dispute was upheld and the 3 points were deducted it would keep M.P in Div 2 and see Raptors relegated...

Under section 4(C) of the disciplinary code a player is suspended immediately for one match and the league will send a notice for completeness. However, the SAASL disciplinary committee can impose and fine of no more than $300 and/or award the match to the opposing team.

It also goes on to say that any club found guilty of fielding one or more suspended/unregistered players during a league championship match, the club shall, in addition to any other penalties imposed, forfeit league championship points from whatever league the offending player was fielded.

Similar incident last year with Croatia, and they were deducted 3 points and in theory cost them div 2 status as they were relegated.

I think they will ask the question, how far they take it I dont know.

IMO, SAASL shouldn't need to be waiting for a dispute & should deduct ISC regardless of who finished where!

i would have thought that only southern knights could challenge the result, as they were the team against raptors the day an "apparent" suspended player was played. para wouldn't to know about this if it wasn't put on this forum
You go on the p*ss all day, you've ballooned out like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
You could go to jail for this! What sort of system am I going to play then? Three across the middle and one in bloody Pentonville? *Mike Basset*

Regardless of how MP found out, SAASL should deduct the points (if true) - even if Southern Knights do not dispute it.

IMO of course!

Croatia fielded an ineligible player against us last season & it took us a while to get an answer if we we're awarded the 3 points or not. We we're awarded the points in the the end but god it dragged on.

S.A.A.S.L are a joke I reckon let's be honest.

Even if Munno Para protest I don't think it would make any difference to the relegation issue.
If Raptors were deducted 3 points and lost 0-2 they would be on the same goal difference as Munno Para but, having scored more they would be positioned above Munno Para and avoid relegation.
No sorry, I am wrong Munno Para would be -14 and Raptors would be -22

If points are not deducted from Raptors then Croatia would have grounds to go at the SAASL as they could argue loss of revenue etc.... It could get ugly for SAASL if they do not stay consistent with their punishments!!! :D

Knights won't challenge, as already mentioned I believe it was an honest mistake - strange the league has decided it this way however given previous decisions

It should not require any team to lodge a complaint. If any team submits a team sheet with an ineligable player (for whatever reason) they should automatically lose points and face further sanctions as determined by the SAASL.
