Sorry Florina Champions dont play like that!

Post by marooned »

To see Aaron Westevellt play for Florina C team in an attempt to win the div 8 title seems to me a lttle bit of a cheat as he has been a first team regular all year. Hats off to you guys for winning the prem div but to stoop to that seems to have taken the shine off your season. My opinion only what others think may differ.

Its a tricky one Marooned, ITS NOT CHEATING THOUGH, its within the SAASL rules more to the point theres no rules saying where you can or cant play. If he is registered he can play Div 1, Ressies and or C Team.

Azza made a promise to the c team that if the first team won the league he would play one game for the c team.

And true to his word, he played Sunday.

And I don't think ull find one person who didn't enjoy Azza playing. For us it was motivation to play well and play next to a class player and person.

For the Downs, it provided extra motivation to beat us in what was a dead rubber for them. And let's be honest, Downs played awesome yeaterday and probably deserved a point.

PS, don't know who the ref was for the c game but he should be commended for an outstandig performance. The best 'away' ref all year, on par with Fulham and USC.

I refused regular 'A' team players y'day and my boys ran out winners.
Its a matter of dignity and personal integrity in my opinion, win it with pride
and and honour and you gain the respect of your fellow players/coaches.
I'm surprised at Aaron for doing this, mind you I'm always surprised when
clubs "stack" their teams for certain games, maybe its a back handed compliment.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

Appreaciate what ur saying here but what noone understands is Azza promised us one game. He is a man of his word and hence played on Sunday. He even left his fathers' day breakfast early to play.

We could have stacked when we hit the top of div 8 four rounds ago to ensure the title but our team sheets will show that only Azza, on the last day of the season, when we were two points behind USC, played one game.

Fair enough, Aaron is a man of his word an someone I respect and to be fair he could'nt have played over the last few weeks
with the Prem title still on the line.

Yes indeed the ref did a great job and it made for a good game - with 7 goals it was certainly one for the neutral. It was good for the game that Aaron played and he was certainly worthy of his BOG drink!

just for the record, we were chasing the league. USC needed a draw or a loss to Inter. Inter had won just three games all year.

Anyway, congratulations to USC - it's a shame to see them go down. Would have loved to have renewed rivalries next year...

And as post script to this subject Aaron played for the first team too.

Not whinging just putting things into perspective. We didnt win the league because we didnt win games that we should have. Head to head with the Champions this year ended in a 6-1 result to the Downs.

Are you kidding me? Fulham ref was a complete joke. He even played advantage on an obvious foul in the penalty box, yes even called advantage even though no florina players were anywhere near the ball? The USC ref was just as bad, he didn't seem to even have an understanding of the rules of the game.

Best two away refs we have had all year by a long way have been the one at Pontians, and the one at the Downs, I felt he did well on Sunday to control the game, even did well to prevent things from getting heated at one point.

To be honest as far as the C's go, I would have to rate Eddie from the Vale better than the two that you previously mentioned.

Ah Marooned, winners are grinners aren't they. Mind games finished last week when we won the league. Yes u won yesterday, beat 10players that i would say dominated 20mins of the second half and tired at the end. Beat a team that had trev out, and Aaron playin sweeper and 3 others were out from the first team, beat our goally who was playing up front with his brother in the first half until the :clown: got sent off. If you think we took that game seriously, we wouldn't have taken the piss with our goally playing upfront. So i suggest you worry about this week, and don't worry that you beat the champs twice this year, cause the only thing that gets remembered is who won the league. But as u said, only ur opinion. Calling aaron a cheat or whatever, that's funny. Stoop low? like i said b4, mind games finished last week. So ur calling all of Florina cheats then cause the prez knew what was going on. U calling him a cheat? Comon mate as a prez of a mighty club like the downs, i would expect better words to come out of your mouth, or should i say keyboard. but thanx anyway and good luck in the cup. ur boys deserve some accolade for the year they had. as for you? well back to manners school u go. :D

If I played for Florina in the C grade and the a grade coach came and played the last game of the season I would of been ecstatic. To get the chance to play with someone of that standard and to try and learn a few things from them is brilliant.
I think that in a lot of clubs and with a lot of A grade players their ego's would stop them from trying to help out the c grade.
I was lucky to get the chance to play a game for our C grade this season when they were short a player and really enjoyed having a game with a new bunch of players and having that bond with them for the rest of the season.
There should be more of it.
Congratulations to Florina on the div 1 title
and well done to USC's C grade on the div 8 title

During our presentations nothing was mentioned as it was not the right moment as we welcomed you in and applauded the Champions rightfully. Maybe cheat was too stong a word. But if it happened in any other league it would be deemed as unsportsmanlike would'nt you agree. Promise or no promise. Seems to me the only people thinking all is ok to do that come from within your club.

lol @ ppl bagging florina for this, nothing wrong with slipping 1 or 2 higher standard players in to win the league in the last game, smart move, the club is bigger than individuals and a div 8 win would happily go with the div 1 title,
sounds like the same old sour grapes being eaten again by the usual suspects

I agree and so long as the league competition rules are followed, which was clearly the case here because it was NOT a catch-up fixture - see extract below. End of story.

Rule 14(b): No club shall use in its Reserve or Thirds team, a player who is a regular first team player.
For the purpose of interpreting this sub-rule, a regular first team player is one who has
played 80 per centum of games in the first division as at the time of completion of 80 per
centum of the prescribed fixtures, (calculated to the nearest whole game). Where there is
good reason to suspect a breach of this rule the club will be charged with misconduct and if
the Disciplinary Committee finds the charge sustained the offending club shall forfeit the
match in which a player is used and may, in addition, be subject to additional penalty or
penalties. This rule is only applicable to catch up fixtures where the senior team is not
playing.
