Don;t know about lamb on the spit, but I have heard about points being deducted for playing ineligible players 2 weeks ago.

So two weeks ago, that would be against Flinders?

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

All players registered and listed in team sheet were eligible to play, as they have been all season, in accordance with the league rules.

nicely worded

I'm sure the players listed on the team sheet would have been registered and eligible to play, you'd be an idiot not to be.

BUT did the players listed, match those on the pitch? If my source is correct, then no they didn't.

Perhaps you're confused with Lionel Messi starting instead of Gabriel Batistuta?

I can't believe anyone would believe the TOP TEAM would play ineligible players against the BOTTOM TEAM.

God is an Englishman, stop being unsporting on the final week. Our club is enjoying our most exciting period and you're creating a negative atmosphere that is completely unwarranted.

Just because your "source" saw a player they didn't recognise, doesn't mean they're not a registered player. Your source is not an oracle.

GIAE just finds it hard to believe that he was WRONG so he can resort to the typical thing a baby would do and claim we cheated.
God Is An Englishman on 13/08/08 wrote:I'm yet to read anything of wit and intelligence from you. Perhaps you could explain where exactly Vipers are going. Looking at the league table, i would suggest they are going precisely NOWHERE!! next year they will still be playing football in division 3. Perhaps they have found a couple of dollars together and will be moving out of the western suburbs.
a) GIAE was wrong as we played Division 2 this year
b) He was wrong again as we are going to Division 1, or the Saturday premier League as it is now referred to.

Nobody has looked like beating the Black and Whites for weeks and the pressure is placed firmly on the Vipers. Now it's just about the final round - what a cracker with the top4 in battle. That third spot is still crucial.
Tough words! But I disagree. If the referee had correctly given OISC a penalty in the 92nd (it was 47 minutes on my watch) minute against you guys, we could have been 1-0 up and then it would have made a dogfight to the end. Instead, you went up the pitch and scored from the resulting goalkick and the whistle blew about 5 seconds after the kickoff. Such are the breaks.

Unless a team folds or moves to the State League to replace SASI or PPC, then third place means nothing but the prize money.
It's just an attempt from adriano10 to play mind games.
It's not mind games, Crue Head.

For the people suggesting Vipers would play an inelligible player against Flinders, well that's a bit silly. I highly doubt they'd do that to their title/promotion chances at that particular point in time, especially against a team they were highly-likely to beat and help relegate.

Congratulations to the boys from Salisbury! Saw the Vipers vs OISC game and thought that the Vipers had enough chances to win three matches. :x Full credit to the OISC keeper, absolutely outstanding. I must admit the Vipers have had the most trouble playing against OISC and whilst Villa won the league the Vipers can hold their heads high and think, "2010, they are in div 1" Not bad for a team 4 years old. Should've won the championship yesterday, but that's football. Kitchimo, the atmosphere at the ground was excellent and far from euro 2004 as most of the players and supporters of the club arent Greek  . Ella re vlaka:lol:

Has been a great year - quality throughout the side and if the player/coach doesn't win the division best and fairest (or go extremely close) i'll be very surprised - ripped it up as one of the league's leading scorers playing from centre mid.

The 1 point final difference is only part of the story relating to how close Vipers and Villa were... two draws and goal difference only broken away from being level in the final fortnight.

The round 1 game at Vipers was the most unbelievable amateur league game i've ever seen - 5-5. Top-corner pingers left, right and centre and a goal pretty much from kick-off. Vipers coming twice from 2 goals down at 2-0 and 4-2 to level it and then take a 5-4 lead before a last-gasp - and i mean last-gasp - goal made it 5-5.

With a little bit of decent recruiting both sides should be ok in Div1 2010 - a fair effort to go straight from Div3 to Div1 in 2 seasons.

Salisbury Villa B's won against Budapest, I think the final score was 6-0.

3rd spot finish then for the Villa B's. Respectable finish however a little dissapointing considering the title was ours to lose, and a string of 3 consecutive loses threw it away at the crucial stage of the season.

Congrats to FC Adelaide, definately the toughest team we played this season and well deserved winners.

Just like to mention it was good to see some of the Budapest boys joining the Villa boys for a beer after the game and being very gracious in defeat and congratulating the Villa boys on their league win. After a less then friendly past between the two clubs and a firey A's & B's clash, it's good to see it can be left on the park after the whistle and a beer and a yarn can be enjoyed afterwards. The way it should be.

Congrats again to our boys Villa, definately the best team in the league and well deserved winners. Look forward to our future endevours in Div 1.
