Australia striker Scott McDonald linked to one-year loan with Wigan
From correspondents in Glasgow, Scotland
August 29, 2009 Australia striker Scott McDonald has been linked to a spell in the Barclays Premier League on a one-year loan to Wigan according to his agent.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly been impressed by the Celtic forward and is keen for the move to go ahead before the transfer window closes at the start of next week.
The move is being put together by agent Willie McKay, who believes Premier League experience could send the valuation of the Socceroos international soaring.
McKay told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record: "Negotiations are at an early stage.
"Roberto is a big admirer of Scott and believes he would score a lot of goals in the Premier League.
"A loan might not sound like the ideal situation but if Scott goes down to England and makes his mark, his value will shoot through the roof."
seems like wigan clutchung at straws, celtic don't have enough back up to let him go, plus mcdonald is a life long celtic fan, don't see him going, maybe words twisted around by the media, anyways don't reckon it will get passed the rumour stage

He'll struggle in the Premier league just like he does when he plays for the Socceroos. No disrepect to Scottish football, but a bit different playing against Man U, Arse, Chelsea, etc...than Falkirk, Dumbarton, Partick Thistle...

Reading between the lines his agent couldn't give a stuff - all he's worried about is the commision he'll get out of any future sale.

that's what all those parasites are like. Always in the player's ear about moving on.

Re: mcdonald linked with wigan
seems like martinez wants him and his agent is looking for a bonus, doesn't look likely as i mentioned earlier, mcdonald is a life long celtic fan and is currently the leading scorer and the clubs best forward, and why would you leave celtic to go to wigan while your first choice striker
Re: mcdonald linked with wigan
He's going nowhere. it's his agent who is trying to get the transfer happening. This Willie McKay is an idgit.
Scott Brown has just dropped him as his agent, and funny enuf Scott Brown has been linked with a big money transfer fee to Spurs and Everton. Now scott Brown has come out and said he isn't going anywhere and is free of any agents.

i would expect mcdonald to do the same, they said tonight that donati is on his way to bari, not happy as he has been our best player so far this year, they also said brown and samaras were linked with moves...
i think mcmanus is nearly match fit as he is in the scotland squad be interesting to see what happens after international break

Re: mcdonald linked with wigan
There is still a large ?mark over his ability at the top and international level which can only be answered by a move to the Premier League or Serie A.
The older I get the better I was.
