Tough hit out for the boys yesterday. Pontians were up to the challenge and walked away with the three points. The weather didnt help much with the wind picking the ball up and taking it where ever it wanted. Would have been the same every where else though so no excuse. Pontians took the lead with a diflected shot midway thru the first half, with both teams not having many shots in the first stanza. I would say that was the only real shot Pontains had in the first half with Mark Kelly for the Downs winning a nice header in the box only to headed straight at the Keeper for the Downs only real threat in the first half. Second half saw the game open up a bit more with Pontians putting the Downs on the back foot early. Once again though no real clear cut chances. Then about the 75th min mark Pontian took a two nil lead with a close range shot to Benny A near post. Just prior to that though i must make note that Benny A made ANOTHER couple world class saves to keep the Downs in the Game. With 15 left to play the Downs finally put some forward moves together that nearly got them a sausage back with Chris Orange hitting the crossbar and a Tom Radford free kick that hit a few legs on its way to goal only to narrowly miss. Radford then scored a late consilation goal to make it 2v1.
Well done to Pontians, wanted it more on the Day and thanks for the food and hospitality afterwards...

Farm showing their credentials? time will tell. But Florina sitting top, and u chasing! oh did i forget to mention u lost to Pontian on the weekend and u think u can beat Lion who romped Parafield 4-0, and Farm beating a Westies team that has no confidence at the moment.
