Under 11 Comets Coach , Massive Tool

Post by Well In »

I was watching a relative playing at the Comets V Western Strikers u 11 or 12 (U 11 I think) on the weekend. The Comets coach was standing right out on the pitch. The bloke from the Strikers asked him nicely to get back behind the line. He just launched at him swearing at him and telling him to F off. Asking him what difference he was making.

The guy nicely asked him again and he just refused and continued to abuse him. He did not move until a parent physically dragged him back.

A big congrats to him for showing kids how to behave! What a tool.

That does appear to be the general consensus. I notice there is no one from the comets defending him on here!

The sad thing is the kids are scared of being dropped and the parents are scared of their kids being dropped you can see it on their faces any little mistake and they shit themselves.

Sad for kids that age.

U11 no ladder and coaches still carry on like that. How are the kids going to have fun?

I said it a couple of comments ago, no one from Comets has come on here to defend him, that says it all I think.

Well there are 2 coaches for the U11 teams at the Comets, so I don't know which coach you are talking about.
Let me assure you people, that BOTH coaches for the Comets are good people and good coaches.
As for West Adelaide Blues and Rider the under 12 coach has taken his team to the Cup Final, ok he may get angry but he is getting the results and developing the kids.

Sorry mate you are not a good coach if at the U11 level you swear at your players and carry on like that. That is NOT good coaching.

I also saw the U12 coach a few weeks ago. Every time the opposition got any sort of momentum he would call a substitution. Whilst that might help him win it is NOT good coaching as the kids are not learning.

On the bright side at least someone from Comets is defending their coaches! Even if they are wrong.

Do we need threads like this here? Would be better in the Wild West.

I'm not sure that threads like this does anyone any good. The coach may be a tool, but we've only got one side of the story and all it does is diminish the respect for the game.

Just my two cents.

Firstly Devils Advocate I am preety sure both the Under 11 coaches HAVE NEVER sweared at any of his or the opposition players. If they have done this they should not be a coach, but I am preety sure that both off them would not do that.

Secondly there are 2 Comets U11 coaches and previously working with one of them I can assure you and the rest of you people that he is a great bloke and looks out for his kids.

Lastly The Under 12's coach is a marvellous coach and has taken TWO teams to the Cup Finals (one this year, one last year) All of the parents know that he is a little "over enthusiastic" but that is his way of coaching and the parents respect that and to ALL you people saying to that he does not develop the kids come out to a training night and see how the kids train.

Now this stupid arguement has started over that the U11 coach did not go behind the line during a football game and was swearing at the person that tried to move him. Now I am preety sure the only people that should tell him to move are the Ground Steward, The Linesman and The Refferee.

Sounds like the Comets had a few problems on the weekend.

Unfortunately there is not enough action taken against clubs that continually infringe, so it just goes on and on.
FFSA need to start handing out some penalties instead of "warnings".

I would say the parents are poor if this is the case, the coach would be well aware of how to speak to children if it was my son.

What parent would let another adult speak to their child that way, pretty soft if you ask me.

If this is true that is.

Mate it was the Ground Steward who asked him to move and he just launched at him swearing his head off. Heaps of parents and the kids who were subs sitting right behind him.

Stand by my original post. The guy is a tool.

I didn't see the incident as my two boys are now a bit older but, in general, it's a real fine line that coaches have to tread between being uselessly soft and overly tough.

Swearing at the younger kids is obviously not on, but the attitude of some parents that their kids are superstars already and must always be praised is also wrong. I just wish parents would put less pressure on youngsters to win at all costs and more emphasis on enjoying the game and learning. At age 12, the result is immaterial and you definitely learn more from a defeat than from belting teams 10-0 every week.

Well mate your U11 coach told the official from strikers to F%#K off several times very loudly with the subs from both teams sitting meters away.

All this because the guy asked him very nicely to stand behind the touch line where he should have been standing anyway.

As I said at the start he is a MASSIVE TOOL.

Well In you are entitled to your opinion, but as I know the U11 Comets coach, he is a very nice guy and a good coach.

Also this "arguement" or "fued" or whatever you want to call it started when the Strikers steward told the coach to step behind the line, I for one am a coach any many times have I stepped over the line to talk to my players or to signal to the referee for a sub and I havent got in trouble. In an U11 game surely there is no harm of stepping over the line.

Oh also to Bruce I'm never wrong
