Non attendance of referees

Post by Stitch This »

This little gem from today's results circular to junior delegates.
Westpac Junior Premier League Round 14 Results.

Can you please advise me as soon as possible if your match did not have any official referee attend yesterday. It is becoming a concern to me the number of recent non attendances, on the weekend there were only 3 matches not covered but those clubs were advised, all other matches had confirmed appointments so there should have been someone is attendance. Referees are fined for non attendance at matches after acceptance of their appointment.

Regards,

Dimitri Peppas

u12NE2 Campbelltown v Croydon had parents from both sides taking turns refereeing due to no show by ref. Hopefully Campbelltown notified Dimitri.

Nothing stopping Croydon from doing it.

Was a Campelltown home game, not Croydon's place to put in a report as we presume that Campbelltown did the right thing and had a official referee booked for the game.
If the FFSA is asking clubs to notify them maybe they're trying to improve refereeing standards for next year and should get all the help they can.

I don't think that stops you from doing it, plus if you do it you know it's been done.

How could you possibly have parents from both teams referee the one game. Rules are clear. If no referee turns up 10 minutes after kick off then home team appoints ref. If they haven't got anyone then they can ask the opposition to supply one. If still no one game gets called off. You can't have clubs doing a half each.
By the way heard the Croydon coach is still going on about losing a game at WAH over a month ago. Plus his female sidekick was carrying on like a pork chop on the weekend at Campbelltown once again.

I think it is fairer to have one do a half each... everyone's happy... where's the problem...?

Don't know, wasn't there just heard that a parent from both sides refereed each half.

As per WA - not a nice day I hear, especially when the WA assistant coach grabs the Croydon coach around the neck; well that's what I heard & what was put in the full report that went into the FFSA.

How funny is it that FFSA junior teams have this problem and Eliz & Dists dont.

Lets get our facts straight here Johnny. A letter was sent in by a parent/or the coach. FFSA then asked Croydon if they would like to submit a report into any incidents alleged or otherwise. Croydon did not. End of story as far as FFSA & CLUBS are concerned. Now if he was grabbed by the throat then why haven't Croydon or the coach taken it further? You can answer that one yourself. Unfortunately this was one of the worst cases of not being able to accept a loss.
End of story.
Now seeing you are so in touch with all the happenings, explain how Croydon were playing an 11 year old in their U/9 team?

Now this is the stupid & ridiculous behavior that gets clubs into unnecessary embarrassing situations.

Are you talking about the U9 game that two West Adelaide parents attacked the coach at the end of the game while he spoke to his team? And one parent following him to the car park threatening to come after him and fix him up in front of his son?!

That incident came about for the same reason the other did; coaches & parents upset over a loss and demanding a card check after the game.

The first incident you mentioned, in my eyes, was both coaches fault. I spoke to our coach and we sorted things out, that type of incident will never happen again. Out of respect for both coaches & clubs I kept quiet, you on the other hand had to open the can.
Card checks must be made 15 minutes before the game, after that time it's too late. Win or lose remember that you're representing the club, educating the players and respecting all involved.

As for the 11 year old boy   get your facts right. The boy is registered as an U9 (ask the FFSA) and because he is a new Australian citizen he has had a bone density test to determine his age.

You've done well today, what respect I had for your club has been shot down in a few posts.

We shouldn't publicise incidents like this as it's the kids that suffer. It was three or four hot heads on both sides that forgot that the game is for the kids, I'm sure they realise and will alter their behaviour.
I think the two teams will be having another game, I'll try and get down to watch the kids play a good game of soccer.

Please dont go there, I have got a video of a SHOCKING incident involving an 8yo E&D kid, where he was banned for 12 months from a competition for what he did to another kid (who was 7 at the time) :( :( :(
Brings back very bad memories :(

In other words, there is good and bad :( in all competitions, and most of it has to do with how the kid is brought up at home, and nothing to do with the club or the coach.
Even though "most" coaches do try and teach disicipline, and most importantly....RESPECT, when you lose and when you win !!

Under 6-8 is refereed by club refs not official EDRA refs my friend. In the last 8 years we have always had official refs for all U9-Colts games.
