It was not for punching ...it was for an intentional bad tackle ... your player received a yellow for punching .... should have got a red though..but he didn't cos it wasn't gonna influence the outcome of the game anyway and it was late in the game too...

Bodes - agree with your analysis of the a game - both sides had chances to win it in the second and Theo finished well. I would've thought Bosa would be the last club to be critiquing B team refs. Let's remember they're only doing it because the league can't supply them and the way your b side whinged - at least he didn't give you any marching orders and they can play next round.Bodes wrote:On the ball Kitchimo. Wanderers 1 - 2 BOSA (2-0)
A's
A tough fought game with some odd ref decisions. I think that he and the B's ref shared a crack pipe this morning. BOSA opened the scoring with great team build up and a very good finish from Patto. The ref awarded a fair enough penalty in right at the end of the first half. The Roo put it way sending the keeper the wrong way.
The second half was typical of Wanderers Vs BOSA. Lots of niggling behind play with tough challenges all over the park. The Wanderers keeper pulled off some good saves and gave his usual verbal abuse of the opposing team. I can normally deal with that but a fingers to face slanty eye gesture to one of our players is racist and beyond normal match banter. Poor form! It was almost justice with him getting a one on one put past him by Theo in the dying seconds.
A memorable win for BOSA.
B's
A fair result that was poorly refereed. He wasn't biased but just had no idea. I was lost and confused at many of his decisions. The Wanderers being familiar with this ref used it to their advantage and played the game very physically and at some times dirty. To my detriment I started throwing in bad tackles myself. What did happen though was Wanderers ability to intimidate our side. We didn't play our normal game and was beaten by a better side on the day.

wrong the villa player got a yellow for pushing the africa player. the clown threw the hay maker hence a red card. this was the referees explanation! It was not for punching ...it was for an intentional bad tackle ... your player received a yellow for punching .... should have got a red though..but he didn't cos it wasn't gonna influence the outcome of the game anyway and it was late in the game too...
but anyway we will take the 6 points and move on to wanderers in a couple of weeks.
Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 2009/08/01
During my analysis I was going to credit the Wanderers B's for not whinging and complaining as mentioned by other teams in the past. I hardly think that we were whinging as opposed to questioning bad decisons. It is completely out of character for our side to complain. That ref, as agreed by more than one of your players as being embarassing, made bad choices. It is unfortunate that we don't get league refs because these comments from you and I wouldn't exist. Good win and I look forward to our encounters in the future.Fresh Football wrote:Bodes - agree with your analysis of the a game - both sides had chances to win it in the second and Theo finished well. The one allowed to speak? Another football myth!Lucas Leiva wrote:...when the captain told him that he was the captain (thus indicating he was the one allowed to speak...
"I'm the captain...". Well big far-king deal. None of the 17 Laws of the Game provide any special privileges or rights to the captain. It sounds like the guy was being dissentious to the Referee and was therefore booked for it - correctly.
Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 2009/08/01
The player that pushed the referee got the red card first. It was his second yellow. After that he pushed the referee. We as a club do not think that kind of behavior is acceptable and we will deal with the issue.Just like we did when we played against Sturt. Players and spectators got banned and punished for their actions.Things like that happen even in the best leagues in the world.blind_spot wrote:CrappyKeeper wrote:All good news then. With the other results it's looking better we'll hold second in the reserves. Funny with all the reds though because the Africa guys didn't seem that bad when they were playing at our ground. Must just be issues when they play at home. Will be interested in Blindspot's opinion on it all.diegom wrote:Sorry to hear that mate, but still come out to ourgames! AV b team won 2-0
Africa player received a red for punching our player! Their club ref did a good job
I think the referee didn't do a great job letting a lot of things go. Didn't have control of the game really. Two players deserved the reds but the first one was pathetic. Defender clearly got the ball. Looking at the way the game was going with Villa players going in hard and doing even worse tackles than that I thought that was unfair. Really whoever the ref was,he
let things get out of control and only booked Africa players which made things worse. You
can't allow one team to play rough and punish the other for everything.
R u serious???
What game were u watching??
All 3 red cards were for late tackles, the ref even called over ur captain and advised him to tell ur player, no to settle down after he reacted to a tackle from our defender! But surprise surprise, he kept reacting! And susequently got a second yellowfir a very late tackle! Ur first sending off was because of two yellow cards! And the fact that ur no35 pushed the ref and told him to "suckhiscock" just shows how bad ur players attitude towards authority is!
And with the quick freekick, he allowed ours cos hedealt with the situation, whereas he pulled ur teams back because he was still talking to ur player, for wait for it ............ Talking back!
Ps, not to mention the abuse our linesman was getting from ur players!
and no2 for us is our captain, Rick. His job is to talk to our players but when ur no14 started abusing him and givin him crap, he gave it back!
maybe if ur team spent more time actually playing football and less trying to break legs, u wont b struggling to win points!

Not a good day today for OISC either, B Grade and E Grade title chances are pretty much gone, and A Grade will need a minor miracle to go up. Let's just say some interesting referee decisions in the A Grade match
Results I've heard:
Division 1
Wanderers - BOSA 1-2 (2-0)
Division 2
Salisbury Villa - OISC 1-0 (4-1)
Southern Breakers - FC Adelaide 4-2 (0-4)
Division 3
MA Hawks - Mt Barker 5-0 (1-0
Division 4
Torrens Valley - OISC (2) 3-2
Strathalbyn - ACU Falcons pp (4-1) - apparently ref didn't rock up for first team match
Division 6
Mt Barker C1 - FC Adelaide 0-6
Salisbury Villa - OISC 2-1
As for the serious stuff, some of today was pretty poor - your supporters/linesman idiotic in some of their offensive, stereotypical comments towards opposition players...having said that most of the playing Iggies lads were good and gracious, even after a heart-breaking defeat like that
but PS that linesman in the 2nd half... make sure he learns the rules before the next time he picks up the flag, and tell him to keep his thoughts to himself... i heard he called the corner taker a fat c**t in the last minute (real mature of him if true)...but funny because he was able to put the ball on his team mates head for the winner...

Uni played the better football, and definitely had the chances to win it in the first half, but we kept firing wide. Bringing on a quick striker (no. 10) up front gave jets a bit more going forward. Both teams went in hard, Jet's best chance probably in the first half where off a free kick, a player found themself unmarked in the box but instead of burying it, kicked the ball in to his own face.jets no.7 wrote:jets 0 uni 0 pretty average game, draw a fair result!
I'm all for banter from the sidelines, but some of the stuff coming from the sidelines of the ejts was jsut stupid. Monkey and donkey sounds everytime uni players were on the ball, trying to put off our players on free kicks etc. Bit silly and continuous calls of uni fa***tts was uncalled for. Like I said, I don't mind banter from the sidelines, but there's a line, and I think some of the Jets supporters crossed it.

Rob, as a ref, I'm sure you allow players to ask you "what was the infringement", right? Well, the point I was trying to make is that this ref was one of those (all of which are a bit too common these days) that don't allow players to even say a word to themselves. The captain stepped in to stop a fight, and when the ref called him over, he said "I was trying to keep the peace", with which the ref said "you're not allowed to speak", with which the captain replied "but aren't I the one player you let speak, I'm the captain."Rob Lozza wrote:The one allowed to speak? Take the scenario into context Rob before labelling anyone dissentious. And if none of the 17 Laws state that, the why the fark are refs telling captains who can speak before games? Be consistent and I'll be quiet.

As for linesman talking, perhaps the Salisbury linesman in that game should've been watching the game and not drinking beer, eating chips, and trying to provoke spectators (Which is odd, because I would've thought that someone who attempted to be a ref in the earlier game would know to focus on the match. Oh, wait, he was too busy checking his phone when his own side was about to take their penalty.............)

You won so why are you stirring shit?
Didn't like being called 'Judas'? It's all part of the game, Alex. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. No one from OISC jumped on here to bag your linesman for doing the things he was doing or for his performance as referee in the earlier game until you decided to make a comment (the old saying 'practice what you preach comes to mind'). We copped it, and have moved on.

Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 2009/08/01
It's not a square-up. I said in my first post that I didn't make any decisions that weren't there. There were only 2 decisions that were questioned by the Villa players.
1 was a ricochet of 2 players legs, so basically a 50/50 call. I though it came off their player last.
2 was when I wasn't in the best position to see if the Villa player had dribbled the ball out for a goal kick. Although I wasn't square on the touch line, I could tell the ball was out.
If someone's going to have a go at me, then I bloody well have a right to defend myself. He can't be all high and mighty about how good the Salisbury ref's are, because obviously it's not as much of a club as OISC, where players come out and support the other teams, otherwise he would've seen the worst single display of refereeing in a match, where a ref hand's out cards during the game, only to not officially write them down, not because he's a nice guy, but because questions would be raised about why there were 6 yellow cards handed out to a visiting in probably every match he ref's

2 was when I wasn't in the best position to see if the Villa player had dribbled the ball out for a goal kick. Although I wasn't square on the touch line, I could tell the ball was out.
If someone's going to have a go at me, then I bloody well have a right to defend myself. I wasn't there nor am I accusing you of anything.
I just commented on your post which read as if you had a preconceived notion on how you would call because of an earlier game.

Even if I did (even though I didn't), how dare the refereeing be of an equal standard across different games......Franco UnAmerican wrote:I wasn't there nor am I accusing you of anything.

Not a good day today for OISC either, B Grade and E Grade title chances are pretty much gone, and A Grade will need a minor miracle to go up. Let's just say some interesting referee decisions in the A Grade match
Results I've heard:
Division 1
Wanderers - BOSA 1-2 (2-0)
Division 2
Salisbury Villa - OISC 1-0 (4-1)
Southern Breakers - FC Adelaide 4-2 (0-4)
Division 3
MA Hawks - Mt Barker 5-0 (1-0
Division 4
Torrens Valley - OISC (2) 3-2
Strathalbyn - ACU Falcons pp (4-1) - apparently ref didn't rock up for first team match
Division 6
Mt Barker C1 - FC Adelaide 0-6
Salisbury Villa - OISC 2-1
That Linesman would be me. I didn't make 1 incorrect decision (unlike the 50 that went your way in the other matches)
Hmmmmm.... well maybe I should tell you if a striker makes a run from behind or is level with a player at the time a ball is played, it's onside...
I'll have you know that unlike many opposition linesman, S/Villa's actually does keep up with the play and isn't flag happy, he's honest... often hammered by his own players for not wanting to just raise his flag in favour of his own team (as many do)...
and if you did call the striker what I was told you did, that's pretty poor and irrelevant to the task at hand...
as for the provoking of supporters, they didn't need it...I heard first hand that their comments were made on their own accord, not from opposition taunts
You won so why are you stirring cabernet?
Didn't like being called 'Judas'? It's all part of the game, Alex. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. No one from OISC jumped on here to bag your linesman for doing the things he was doing or for his performance as referee in the earlier game until you decided to make a comment (the old saying 'practice what you preach comes to mind'). We copped it, and have moved on.
Leave it on the field mate, that's where it belongs.
Well said Kitchimo, and I must say Villa definately left it all on the park, 3 from 3's a great effort and Iggie's put up a great fight in the A's & B's match. Unfortunately didn't see the C's play so won't comment on that match.
What I will say is firstly, Kitchimo, you say that adriano10 started all this by making the first comment, however I kindly ask you to review your earlier post in which you were infact the first to comment, and I quote "Not a good day today for OISC either, B Grade and E Grade title chances are pretty much gone, and A Grade will need a minor miracle to go up. Let's just say some interesting referee decisions in the A Grade match". Hmm, leaving it on the field indeed . Surely adriano10 has every right to retort to this provocative statement made by you and would I be misguided in assuming you got the response you were fishing for?
Secondly, not much to say to pernunz besides I personally think you did a fairly good job. Sure there was the odd disputible off side call, but I think it's fair to expect this from any linesman be he a professional or weekend warrior. As for the alleged name calling I can't comment on hearsay however we all know as adults that this kind of behaviour is frowned upon and shouldn't happen in society itself, nor the confines of the weekend football match. I'm sure that if this did occur you surely regret it and in the end if this unfortunate incident happened let's say just desserts were served with the alleged victim playing a huge part in that incredible final second goal and resulting win which as Kitchimo was kind enough to point out earlier, puts Iggie's in real strife and boost Villa ever so closer to promotion next season.
I must say however pernunz, for someone who claims to have been ever so focussed on his task at hand, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you may have spent much of your time watching our linesman as it seems that you are able to recall his every movement. Alas, it is then evident, and somewhat fair, to expect that you may have gotten it wrong on the odd occasion due to your irresistible urge to gaze at the every movement of our linesman, whom I will say, has that affect on many a people although they have previously been women, but hey, who am I to judge.
As for your comments regarding our linesman provoking your spectator's, well, an interesting statement indeed. Now we're all big men presumably, so I will say that banter from the crowd is expected and I myself do not get to disturbed when comments are thrown my way as I respect the right of all men to say what's on their mind as long as they are open to debate. Now during the B's match your group of spectator's were giving it to the linesman (now playing) all game with more then a few choice words and this continued as he passed the crowd while running the line for the A's match. Now as you would have noticed, as you have stated that you watched his every move, he did retaliate and surely we agree that he has every right to defend his honour in doing so. Would you have done the same?? Or would you have been too focussed on the task at hand.
I leave you all with this thought. My father once said to me, "He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones", which I kindly replied, "Why the f@%k would someone build a glass house?"
"If you only play the ball and not the man!!"
A's Salisbury Villa 1 - OISC 0

Re: SATURDAY LEAGUE RESULTS - 2009/08/01
im glad you said some of the jets supporters crossed the line the line because the majority cannot always control the minority. but that can happen when you have a crowd not that you guys would know that. not having a go at yz but is it because you have a transient team from year to year ? it would be hard to build a supporter base if this was the case.anyway good luck for the rest of the season and see you next yearBillyBob wrote:Uni played the better football, and definitely had the chances to win it in the first half, but we kept firing wide.

Yes, you made my point quite well. I'm allowed to have a dig at the referee after the 93rd minute penalty decision There's no point arguing over whose linesman was better or worse because at the end of the day it doesn't change the final score. What happened on the pitch stays there, occasionally you get idiots who don't understand that. Most of them play 7-a-side at Athelstone during the Summer

Seeing as I don't believe it's been posted yet. How much did St Peters get up on Gleeson by? MB? Anyone?
